Download or read book Determined Women s Bible Study Participant Workbook written by Heather M. Dixon and published by Abingdon Press. This book was released on 2019-04-02 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Live intentionally and embrace abundant life! Imagine waking up every single day convinced that the twenty-four hours ahead of you are a precious gift to be used wisely. Now imagine that you know exactly how to spend them to be a force for God’s good. All too often we wander through life without appreciating the gift of every moment we’ve been given. The result? An unsatisfying life, missed opportunities to experience the joy of being in sync with God, and days marked with apathy instead of passion. Our time on earth is measured. We should want to make every moment count—not only because we aren’t guaranteed the next one, but also because this is exactly how our Savior spent His time here. How, then, do we walk out unwavering joy-filled faith every day, determined to let go of the things that keep us from experiencing abundant life and fulfilling the plans God has for us? The answers are found in following the footsteps of the One who lived fully, because He was determined that we might do the same. In this six-week study of Luke, we will follow the life and ministry of Jesus as we consider the choices He made on His way to the cross. We’ll intimately connect with a Savior who remained laser-focused on His mission to love the world. In return, we’ll receive a model for intentional living that we can replicate to ensure we are living each day to the fullest and making a difference for God’s kingdom. And together we’ll determine to embrace the abundant life we are promised in Jesus. The participant workbook includes five days of lessons for each week, combining study of Scripture with personal reflection, application, and prayer. It’s time to stop wandering and start living!
Download or read book Irresistible written by Andy Stanley and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2018-09-18 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A fresh look at the earliest Christian movement reveals what made the new faith so compelling...and what we need to change today to make it so again. Once upon a time there was a version of the Christian faith that was practically irresistible. After all, what could be more so than the gospel that Jesus ushered in? Why, then, isn't it the same with Christianity today? Author and pastor Andy Stanley is deeply concerned with the present-day church and its future. He believes that many of the solutions to our issues can be found by investigating our roots. In Irresistible, Andy chronicles what made the early Jesus Movement so compelling, resilient, and irresistible by answering these questions: What did first-century Christians know that we don't—about God's Word, about their lives, about love? What did they do that we're not doing? What makes Christianity so resistible in today's culture? What needs to change in order to repeat the growth our faith had at its beginning? Many people who leave or disparage the faith cite reasons that have less to do with Jesus than with the conduct of his followers. It's time to hit pause and consider the faith modeled by our first-century brothers and sisters who had no official Bible, no status, and little chance of survival. It's time to embrace the version of faith that initiated—against all human odds—a chain of events resulting in the most significant and extensive cultural transformation the world has ever seen. This is a version of Christianity we must remember and re-embrace if we want to be salt and light in an increasingly savorless and dark world.
Download or read book Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart written by J.D. Greear and published by B&H Publishing Group. This book was released on 2013-02-01 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “If there were a Guinness Book of World Records entry for ‘amount of times having prayed the sinner’s prayer,’ I’m pretty sure I’d be a top contender,” says pastor and author J. D. Greear. He struggled for many years to gain an assurance of salvation and eventually learned he was not alone. “Lack of assurance” is epidemic among evangelical Christians. In Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart, J. D. shows that faulty ways of present- ing the gospel are a leading source of the confusion. Our presentations may not be heretical, but they are sometimes misleading. The idea of “asking Jesus into your heart” or “giving your life to Jesus” often gives false assurance to those who are not saved—and keeps those who genuinely are saved from fully embracing that reality. Greear unpacks the doctrine of assurance, showing that salvation is a posture we take to the promise of God in Christ, a posture that begins at a certain point and is maintained for the rest of our lives. He also answers the tough questions about assurance: What exactly is faith? What is repentance? Why are there so many warnings that seem to imply we can lose our salvation? Such issues are handled with respect to the theological rigors they require, but Greear never loses his pastoral sensitivity or a communication technique that makes this message teachable to a wide audience from teens to adults.

Book excerpt: The book consists primarily of interviews between Strobel (a former legal editor at the Chicago Tribune) and biblical scholars such as Bruce Metzger. Each interview is based on a simple question, concerning historical evidence (for example, "Can the Biographies of Jesus Be Trusted?"), scientific evidence, ("Does Archaeology Confirm or Contradict Jesus' Biographies?"), and "psychiatric evidence" ("Was Jesus Crazy When He Claimed to Be the Son of God?"). Together, these interviews compose a case brief defending Jesus' divinity, and urging readers to reach a verdict of their own.

This narrative study explains Gods love and compassion for Rachel and for everyone through the inspired Word of His Son, Christ Jesus. When a terrible accident occurs, however, it changes her faith in the goodness of God and His promises. All the things she learned in her Bible study classes begin to unravel for her. She feels alone and confused, and she has three important questions for Christ Jesus: Why do children die so young? Why do young people get sick? Are we really going to heaven when we die?
Download or read book Crop Circles and Climate Change written by Jerry Lesac and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2008 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Of all of the arguments ever given by science regarding faith and religion that it is really nothing more than conjecture and it would be that God can't be observed to exist. Looking at the topic of climate change and what we are presented with is something altogether different. For according to the bible it makes no bones about the fact that when it comes to the weather and it is Almighty God who is ultimately responsible for it all. Industrial pollution, however it may aggravate the environment in which we live, is not the real reason behind what is happening. Rather it has got everything to do with another kind of pollution that the bible calls SIN. This is what is really happening to our weather and by all appearances {these crop circles now} and it is reaching a place wherein like Noah's generation could have some serious implications for our own. Jerry Lesac is a cook by trade and a layman in the church. Considered by many to have the gift of a prophet he comes to the bible with a unique perspective born not out of any formal education but rather taught by God. In fact if there was one scripture that could possibly sum up this man's life it would have to be what St. Paul said to young Timothy; "Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message." {1Tim. 4:14} That and perhaps what St. John said as well; "As for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as His anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit -just as it has taught you remain in Him." {1 John 2:27}

As an open-minded skeptic, he assumes that all extraordinary events, no matter how baffling, can be explained rationally, given enough information. When a strange, hallucinatory encounter prompts him to investigate a haunting, he does so convinced the alleged ghost is at most nothing more than a rare optical phenomenon. But what he discovers will shatter that conviction, overturn all his assumptions about reality, and ultimately send him off on a desperate journey to- and beyond- the furthest reaches of our Universe. Before it is done, Edward and the woman he loves find themselves crossing unimagined dimensional barriers into bizarre other realms of existence while fighting for their very lives against an ancient, inhuman evil. Shortly afterwards a friend commented that there was something different in him: the old anger and aggression had been replaced by joy and peace. The following day, walking through the fields, his friend gave his life to his new-found Saviour. -He was the first person I had ever led to Jesus Christ,- recalls Angus. -I was an ambassador of Jesus Christ. I was new at it, but He gave me the words to say. All I had to do was to be obedient and share with my friend. The Holy Spirit did the rest.- Over the years Angus has striven hard to become an effective ambassador for his Lord. A popular speaker and author, he has addressed hundreds of thousands at rallies, and counselled people one by one, helping them to find faith and grow in spiritual stature. The core of his ministry has been his daily time alone with Jesus, usually in the very early morning, before the demands of the day push through his door. In this collection of daily devotions Angus shares the insights and convictions that have come to him as he has spent time with his Lord. It will help you to live a victorious Christian life in the power of the Holy Spirit.
