Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Upon publication, the first edition of the CRC Concise Encyclopedia of Mathematics received overwhelming accolades for its unparalleled scope, readability, and utility. It soon took its place among the top selling books in the history of Chapman & Hall/CRC, and its popularity continues unabated. Yet also unabated has been the d

Book Spiritual Mathematics

Download or read book Spiritual Mathematics written by John Dunne-Brady and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2014-02-13 with total page 462 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book opened an entirely new vista for organizing and using basic numbers. It investigated standard linear numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ....), and how they adversely affected our thinking and actions. It carefully described a circular number system, in which numbers were placed on concentric circles, rather than on straight lines. This new arrangement might very differently and beneficially affect our daily thought processes and activities. The key discovery involved a series of ten mandalas (circular patterns) made from everyday numbers. The book correlated these new breakthroughs with ancient spiritual patterns and practices found in the I Ching, Yoga, Kabala, and in both Pagan and Christian mysteries. These older teachings included the chakras, tree of life, tarot cards, and sacraments. Spiritual Mathematics gave a scientific explanation for many spiritual values and sacred phenomena. It also emphasized the underlying spiritual realities encountered within modern scientific dogmas.

Book 3D Printing in Mathematics

Download or read book 3D Printing in Mathematics written by Maria Trnkova and published by American Mathematical Society. This book was released on 2023-11-07 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is based on lectures delivered at the 2022 AMS Short Course “3D Printing: Challenges and Applications” held virtually from January 3–4, 2022. Access to 3D printing facilities is quickly becoming ubiquitous across college campuses. However, while equipment training is readily available, the process of taking a mathematical idea and making it into a printable model presents a big hurdle for most mathematicians. Additionally, there are still many open questions around what objects are possible to print, how to design algorithms for doing so, and what kinds of geometries have desired kinematic properties. This volume is focused on the process and applications of 3D printing for mathematical education, research, and visualization, alongside a discussion of the challenges and open mathematical problems that arise in the design and algorithmic aspects of 3D printing. The articles in this volume are focused on two main topics. The first is to make a bridge between mathematical ideas and 3D visualization. The second is to describe methods and techniques for including 3D printing in mathematical education at different levels— from pedagogy to research and from demonstrations to individual projects. We hope to establish the groundwork for engaged academic discourse on the intersections between mathematics, 3D printing and education.

Book General Spatial Involute Gearing

Download or read book General Spatial Involute Gearing written by Jack Phillips and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 507 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It has been hard for me to escape the imprint of my early, strong, but scattered trains of thought. There was, at the beginning, little to go by; and I saw no clear way to go. This book is accordingly filled with internal tensions that are not, as yet, fully annealed. Subsequent writers may re-present the work, explaining it in a simpler way. Others may simply invert it. I mean by this that, by writing it backwards, from its found ends {practical machinable teeth) to its tentative beginnings (dimly perceived geometrical notions), one might conceivably write a manual, not on how to understand these kinds of gears, but on how to make them. Indeed a manual will need to be written. If this gearing is to be further investigated, evaluated and checked for applicability, prototypes will need to be made. I wish to say again however that my somewhat convoluted way of presenting these early ideas has been inevitable. It has simply not been possible to present a tidy set of explanations and rules without exploring first (and in a somewhat backwards-going direction) the complexities of the kinematic geometry. There remains, now in this book, a putting together of primitive geometric intuition, computer aided exploration of certain areas, geometric explanations of the discovered phenomena, and a loose sprinkling of a relevant algebra cementing the parts together.
