Download or read book Foreign Direct Investment FDI and Diversity in Tanzanias Economy written by Emmanuel Kasozi and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2013-04-25 with total page 29 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Document from the year 2013 in the subject Business economics - Investment and Finance, grade: none, ( Atlantic International University ), course: Business Administration, language: English, abstract: Abstract The function of Foreign Direct Investment [FDI] in Tanzania is a serious matter which has been uncared for till recently. This came as a result of forcing the Asians to live East Africa especially during the era of Iddi Amini Dada the former president of Uganda after chasing Asians in his country. Most of Foreign Investors scared to invest in East Africa as they feared their property that could be nationalized as Iddi Amini did. For Tanzania itself however, Foreign Direct Investment epitomizes a crucial additional source of the investment capital and make a payment to the Tanzania’s economic growth and development. This thesis denotes one of the initial endeavors to scrutinize the implications of the inflows of FDI and Diversity to Tanzania’s economy. The psychoanalysis of this thesis is undertaken in perspective of the current literature and the efforts which are made by the government of Tanzania to encourage more inflow of Foreign Investors in the country, and people’s opinions on FDI in the country. Also this thesis will focus on the challenges the private investors come across in their efforts to promote investment in Tanzania.

Book Enabling legal frameworks for sustainable land use investments in Tanzania Legal assessment report

Download or read book Enabling legal frameworks for sustainable land use investments in Tanzania Legal assessment report written by Robert Kibugi and published by CIFOR. This book was released on 2015-10-08 with total page 77 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Development Law Organization (IDLO) and the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) assessed the legal frameworks that govern land-use activities and investments in Tanzania. The policy, institutional and legal frameworks are well developed although implementation and enforcement remains weak due to ambiguities in the law and a general lack of supportive incentives. This Legal Assessment report for Tanzania examines four key challenges to the attainment of sustainable land-use investments. These comprise: Enforcement of environmental and social safeguards Tanzania has made progress in implementing the Environmental Management Act by ensuring greater compliance with the Environmental Impact Assessment regulations although exceptions exist in the construction sector, and mining legislation that often enables the government to circumvent important land tenure safeguards. Incentives for sustainable investments in the legal framework A lack of incentives exists despite the creation of the Tanzania Investment Centre, the adoption of an Investment Guide in 2013, and the incorporation of sustainability considerations into laws and policies governing investments in the agriculture, energy, and forestry and mining sectors. Land tenure security Tanzania’s land law framework now includes formal recognition of customary title and the reservation of land under the category of village land exclusively for Tanzanians although improvements are still needed in terms of processes of consultation and compensation. Public awareness and lack of access to information Awareness of natural resources and investment policies, legislation and regulations is generally low amongst rural communities as well as Ward executive officers, village leaders and village land committee members. Rural radio represents their most important source of information

Book Socialist Development and Public Investment in Tanzania 1964 73

Download or read book Socialist Development and Public Investment in Tanzania 1964 73 written by W. Edmund Clark and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 1978-12-15 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With its emphasis on rural development as opposed to urban development, Tanzania has pursued an individual path in socialist development. This work is the first empirical analysis of public investment in matters of agriculture, education, rural health, manufacturing, and commerce, comparing the actual program of investment to the strategy outlined in the Arusha Declaration of 1967. In Socialist Development and Public Investment in Tanzania 1964-1976, Dr Clark finds that Tanzania has been more successful in reorienting its program of social investment than its program of economic development. This failure stems from real differences within Tanzania, and among socialists generally, about appropriate investment strategies for a country at Tanzania's stage of development. In fact, no clear specification of an economic strategy exists and, as a result, policy has been heavily determined by the interests of the dominant political groups. It also reflects the fact that, in its initial stages, Tanzanian socialism was not a mass movement. It was imposed from the top and consequently, the bureaucracy remains relatively immune from the pressures of the people and the poverty in which they live. Dr Clark argues that Nyerere's basic strategy is appropriate to Tanzania at a stage when it lacks the resources to pursue the traditional socialist goal of an integrated industrial economy, but that the implementation of this strategy should and must be improved. Skillfully blending political and social with economic analysis, he provides a provocative interpretation of socialist investment strategy in Tanzania and provides an illuminating perspective on the economics of developing countries.

Book Right to Securities Investment in Tanzania

Download or read book Right to Securities Investment in Tanzania written by Eliud Kitime and published by BookRix. This book was released on 2020-09-16 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Securities industry grows tremendously in the world and in Tanzania now. Its growth is much more associated with development of science and technology as well as global economy interaction. Its growth has both prospects and challenges. Without effective legal and institutional foundations, its potentials will not be realised. Hence, this book intends to examine the legal and practical recognition, protection and enforcement of the right to invest in the securities industry in Tanzania as well as to determine the effectiveness of the mechanisms towards recognition, protection and enforcement of the right to invest in the securities. It is revealed in this book that securities investment is little known area to most people of Tanzania. It is known to some big companies and not individual persons which makes participation to the sector seem to be to it is right by the companies with large capital. However, to some extent the securities laws and institutions recognise, protect and enforce the right to invest in the securities industry in the country. Nevertheless, there are weaknesses within the laws and institutions in making sure the sector reveals its potentials and opportunities to all people in the country. The author makes recommendation such as provision of securities investment education to Tanzanians and few amendments to some laws such as sections 54(1), 135 (1) and 136 (1) of the Capital Markets and Securities Act to mention but few.
