Book Improving Workforce Development and Organisation Performance Benefits Gained by Embedding Workplace Based Training in the New Zealand Health and Disability Sector A Report Prepared for Careerforce Community Support Services ITO Ltd

Download or read book Improving Workforce Development and Organisation Performance Benefits Gained by Embedding Workplace Based Training in the New Zealand Health and Disability Sector A Report Prepared for Careerforce Community Support Services ITO Ltd written by Rose Ryan and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research on workplace learning has commonly focused on the achievement of learning outcomes by trainees. Less attention has been paid to the benefits accruing for organisations from having their employees (trainees) learning in the workplace. This qualitative research looks at the implementation of an embedded training model for care and support workers in the health and disability sector in New Zealand. Care and support work has traditionally been perceived as low skill offering minimum wages, casual employment, and little job security. Based on the experience of five workplaces chosen as case studies, the research found that embedded training not only resulted in learners achieving national qualifications, but also delivered improved quality of care, higher levels of quality assurance, and better outcomes for service users. The research found that because the training takes place in a workplace context, the costs of training are often not recognised by funders. It is clear from the case studies that embedded training promotes trainees' personal development and timely achievement of national qualifications, and also contributes significantly to organisational development. Table of contents: * Introduction * The Context (The New Zealand health and disability support services sector. Training models for the 21st century) * The Careerforce Embedded Training Model (The background and context for embedding training. Researching embedded training models in the health and disability sector) * Findings * What is embedded training? * Models of Embedded Training (Why have employers adopted the embedded model? Training delivery. Customising and evolving the embedded model) * The Costs of Embedding Training for Workplaces (The supports needed for successful implementation of embedded training. The costs of embedding training) * Benefits of Embedded Training (Service delivery benefits. Organisational benefits. Employee benefits) * Conclusions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In April 2015, the Minister for Social Development in New Zealand established the Modernising Child Youth and Family Expert Panel to oversee the development of a new child-centric operating model for the department. This interim report presents initial findings from the review. Child, Youth and Family is one of the government's most important agencies, and central to our collective aspiration that all children and young people deserve to be nurtured by loving families. However, as this report shows, this aim is not being achieved, and a significant number of children and young people in New Zealand continue to experience distressing levels of abuse and neglect. This review focuses on the extent to which CYF's current operating model improves outcomes for children and young people, and any wider changes required to legislation and services provided by other agencies.

This book was released on 2003-01-01 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Maori mental health workforce development is a high priority area for the mental health sector in New Zealand. It is evident from various reports that Maori are under represented in the mental health workforce area, particularly in the specialist professional occupations. This report, undertaken by Moko Business Associates for Te Rau Matatini, reviews relevant literature pertaining to clinical career pathways and associated core competencies for nursing in New Zealand. The review identifies and analyses existing clinical career pathways (CCPs) for nurses and mental health workers in New Zealand, paying particular attention to the content, structure, strengths, criticisms and applicability to the development of a CCP for Maori registered nurses to work in Maori mental health (NGO organisations).
