Book Invariant Distances and Metrics in Complex Analysis

Download or read book Invariant Distances and Metrics in Complex Analysis written by Marek Jarnicki and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2013-06-26 with total page 880 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As in the field of "Invariant Distances and Metrics in Complex Analysis" there was and is a continuous progress this is now the second extended edition of the corresponding monograph. This comprehensive book is about the study of invariant pseudodistances (non-negative functions on pairs of points) and pseudometrics (non-negative functions on the tangent bundle) in several complex variables. It is an overview over a highly active research area at the borderline between complex analysis, functional analysis and differential geometry. New chapters are covering the Wu, Bergman and several other metrics. The book considers only domains in Cn and assumes a basic knowledge of several complex variables. It is a valuable reference work for the expert but is also accessible to readers who are knowledgeable about several complex variables. Each chapter starts with a brief summary of its contents and continues with a short introduction. It ends with an "Exercises" and a "List of problems" section that gathers all the problems from the chapter. The authors have been highly successful in giving a rigorous but readable account of the main lines of development in this area.

Book Complex Analysis and Geometry

Download or read book Complex Analysis and Geometry written by Filippo Bracci and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-08-05 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume includes 28 chapters by authors who are leading researchers of the world describing many of the up-to-date aspects in the field of several complex variables (SCV). These contributions are based upon their presentations at the 10th Korean Conference on Several Complex Variables (KSCV10), held as a satellite conference to the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) 2014 in Seoul, Korea. SCV has been the term for multidimensional complex analysis, one of the central research areas in mathematics. Studies over time have revealed a variety of rich, intriguing, new knowledge in complex analysis and geometry of analytic spaces and holomorphic functions which were "hidden" in the case of complex dimension one. These new theories have significant intersections with algebraic geometry, differential geometry, partial differential equations, dynamics, functional analysis and operator theory, and sheaves and cohomology, as well as the traditional analysis of holomorphic functions in all dimensions. This book is suitable for a broad audience of mathematicians at and above the beginning graduate-student level. Many chapters pose open-ended problems for further research, and one in particular is devoted to problems for future investigations.

Book First Steps in Several Complex Variables

Download or read book First Steps in Several Complex Variables written by Marek Jarnicki and published by European Mathematical Society. This book was released on 2008 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive introduction to the field of several complex variables in the setting of a very special but basic class of domains, the so-called Reinhardt domains. In this way the reader may learn much about this area without encountering too many technical difficulties. Chapter 1 describes the fundamental notions and the phenomenon of simultaneous holomorphic extension. Chapter 2 presents a fairly complete discussion of biholomorphisms of bounded (complete) Reinhardt domains in the two dimensional case. The third chapter gives a classification of Reinhardt domains of existence for the most important classes of holomorphic functions. The last chapter deals with invariant functions and gives explicit calculations of many of them on certain Reinhardt domains. Numerous exercises are included to help the readers with their understanding of the material. Further results and open problems are added which may be useful as seminar topics. The primary aim of this book is to introduce students or non-experts to some of the main research areas in several complex variables. The book provides a friendly invitation to this field as the only prerequisite is a basic knowledge of analysis.

Book Conformally Invariant Metrics and Quasiconformal Mappings

Download or read book Conformally Invariant Metrics and Quasiconformal Mappings written by Parisa Hariri and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-04-11 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an introduction to the theory of quasiconformal and quasiregular mappings in the euclidean n-dimensional space, (where n is greater than 2). There are many ways to develop this theory as the literature shows. The authors' approach is based on the use of metrics, in particular conformally invariant metrics, which will have a key role throughout the whole book. The intended readership consists of mathematicians from beginning graduate students to researchers. The prerequisite requirements are modest: only some familiarity with basic ideas of real and complex analysis is expected.

Book excerpt: This second extended edition of the classic reference on the extension problem of holomorphic functions in pluricomplex analysis contains a wealth of additional material, organized under the original chapter structure, and covers in a self-contained way all new and recent developments and theorems that appeared since the publication of the first edition about twenty years ago.
