Book Introduction To Random Time And Quantum Randomness New Edition

Download or read book Introduction To Random Time And Quantum Randomness New Edition written by Kai Lai Chung and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2003-05-28 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is made up of two essays on the role of time in probability and quantum physics. In the first one, K L Chung explains why, in his view, probability theory starts where random time appears. This idea is illustrated in various probability schemes and the deep impact of those random times on the theory of the stochastic process is shown. In the second essay J-C Zambrini shows why quantum physics is not a regular probabilistic theory, but also why stochastic analysis provides new tools for analyzing further the meaning of Feynman's path integral approach and a number of foundational issues of quantum physics far beyond what is generally considered. The role of the time parameter, in this theory, is critically re-examined and a fresh way to approach the long-standing problem of the quantum time observable is suggested.

Book Mathematical Analysis of Random Phenomena

Download or read book Mathematical Analysis of Random Phenomena written by Ana Bela Ferreira Cruzeiro and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2007 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume highlights recent developments of stochastic analysis with a wide spectrum of applications, including stochastic differential equations, stochastic geometry, and nonlinear partial differential equations. While modern stochastic analysis may appear to be an abstract mixture of classical analysis and probability theory, this book shows that, in fact, it can provide versatile tools useful in many areas of applied mathematics where the phenomena being described are random. The geometrical aspects of stochastic analysis, often regarded as the most promising for applications, are specially investigated by various contributors to the volume.

Book Non autonomous Kato Classes and Feynman Kac Propagators

Download or read book Non autonomous Kato Classes and Feynman Kac Propagators written by Archil Gulisashvili and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2006 with total page 359 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This book provides an introduction to propagator theory. Propagators, or evolution families, are two-parameter analogues of semigroups of operators. Propagators are encountered in analysis, mathematical physics, partial differential equations, and probability theory. They are often used as mathematical models of systems evolving in a changing environment. A unifying theme of the book is the theory of Feynman-Kac propagators associated with time-dependent measures from non-autonomous Kato classes. In applications, a Feynman-Kac propagator describes the evolution of a physical system in the presence of time-dependent absorption and excitation. The book is suitable as an advanced textbook for graduate courses." "Readership: Graduate students and researchers in mathematical analysis, partial differential equations, and probability theory."--BOOK JACKET.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Creating a rigorous mathematical theory of randomness is far from being complete, even in the classical case. Interrelation of Classical and Quantum Randomness rectifies this and introduces mathematical formalisms of classical and quantum probability and randomness with brief discussion of their interrelation and interpretational and foundational issues. The book presents the essentials of classical approaches to randomness, enlightens their successes and problems, and then proceeds to essentials of quantum randomness. Its wide-ranging and comprehensive scope makes it suitable for researchers in mathematical physics, probability and statistics at any level"--

Book Mathematical Feynman Path Integrals And Their Applications Second Edition

Download or read book Mathematical Feynman Path Integrals And Their Applications Second Edition written by Sonia Mazzucchi and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2021-11-16 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Feynman path integrals are ubiquitous in quantum physics, even if a large part of the scientific community still considers them as a heuristic tool that lacks a sound mathematical definition. Our book aims to refute this prejudice, providing an extensive and self-contained description of the mathematical theory of Feynman path integration, from the earlier attempts to the latest developments, as well as its applications to quantum mechanics. This second edition presents a detailed discussion of the general theory of complex integration on infinite dimensional spaces, providing on one hand a unified view of the various existing approaches to the mathematical construction of Feynman path integrals and on the other hand a connection with the classical theory of stochastic processes. Moreover, new chapters containing recent applications to several dynamical systems have been added. This book bridges between the realms of stochastic analysis and the theory of Feynman path integration. It is accessible to both mathematicians and physicists.

Questions such as the existence of a Big Bang, the neurobiological basis regarding the coexistence of free will and determinism, intercultural aspects of time, mathematical models of time, psychopathological features of time, and micro reversibility versus macroscopic irreversibility are studied. It also provides a truly interdisciplinary study of the problematic 'arrow of time'.

Book Stochastic Analysis and Mathematical Physics II

Download or read book Stochastic Analysis and Mathematical Physics II written by Rolando Rebolledo and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The seminar on Stochastic Analysis and Mathematical Physics of the Ca tholic University of Chile, started in Santiago in 1984, has being followed and enlarged since 1995 by a series of international workshops aimed at pro moting a wide-spectrum dialogue between experts on the fields of classical and quantum stochastic analysis, mathematical physics, and physics. This volume collects most of the contributions to the Fourth Interna tional Workshop on Stochastic Analysis and Mathematical Physics (whose Spanish abbreviation is "ANESTOC"; in English, "STAMP"), held in San tiago, Chile, from January 5 to 11, 2000. The workshop style stimulated a vivid exchange of ideas which finally led to a number of written con tributions which I am glad to introduce here. However, we are currently submitted to a sort of invasion of proceedings books, and we do not want to increase our own shelves with a new one of the like. On the other hand, the editors of conference proceedings have to use different exhausting and com pulsive strategies to persuade authors to write and provide texts in time, a task which terrifies us. As a result, this volume is aimed at smoothly start ing a new kind of publication. What we would like to have is a collection of books organized like our seminar.

Book What Is Random

    Book Details:
  • Author : Edward Beltrami
  • Publisher : Springer Nature
  • Release : 2020-07-30
  • ISBN : 1071607995
  • Pages : 192 pages

Download or read book What Is Random written by Edward Beltrami and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-07-30 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this fascinating book, mathematician Ed Beltrami takes a close enough look at randomness to make it mysteriously disappear. The results of coin tosses, it turns out, are determined from the start, and only our incomplete knowledge makes them look random. "Random" sequences of numbers are more elusive, but Godels undecidability theorem informs us that we will never know. Those familiar with quantum indeterminacy assert that order is an illusion, and that the world is fundamentally random. Yet randomness is also an illusion. Perhaps order and randomness, like waves and particles, are only two sides of the same (tossed) coin.
