Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the first time there is a Criminal Law textbook specifically geared to Master's level or undergraduate legal studies/law courses on the subject. The book, written by well-known legal scholars, fills a void. Master's In Legal Studies programs have become quite commonplace in the United States, and, additionally there are colleges experimenting with new undergraduate law programs. Faculty teaching in those programs, or teaching in Criminal Justice classes, however, typically have three imperfect choices if they want to use the case method of teaching law: 1) they use a Juris Doctor level casebook but assign substantially less material from the book; 2) they use a simplistic undergraduate or high school level textbook; or 3) they develop their own materials. This textbook, then, offers a perfect alternative. First, each chapter begins with an overview of the law on the subject covered for simple and easy access. The book that contains thought provoking problems designed to stimulate thought and produce interesting classroom discussion. The hypos are woven throughout the chapters and are designed to help students learn doctrine, illuminate trends in the law, and ultimately produce better learning. The book is also meant to teach practical skills to students going into the field. Some of the problems place students in practical situations that they are likely to encounter in a criminal justice career, and therefore encourage students to think about how they might handle those situations in real-life. The book is designed to be a very affordable paperback.

This book was released on 2023-10-10 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past forty years, the approach to legal disputes in England and Wales has experienced some important changes. In many instances, mediation, with its objective of resolving disputes, is favoured over the traditional and adversarial procedure of litigation. Intriguingly, the perspectives of mediators on the practice of family mediation are relatively unexplored territory. This book with its focus on family mediation seeks to reduce this gap by supplementing the existing literature. It will put forward the family mediators’ opinions and my recommendations on how family mediation can be improved from the perspective of models. It aims to contribute, through the practitioners’ lens, to some of the important theoretical issues, discussions and difficulties surrounding family mediation. In addition, the aim of this book is to set out the understanding of family mediators and draw on this to explore important themes such as mediation models, their principles and the nature of the task. The analysis of these themes will reveal many things, from the difficulties and demanding tasks in family mediation, to the satisfaction and reward that can be felt by family mediators who achieve the parties’ objective of amicably resolving a family dispute. Book Introduction to the English Legal System Revision Guide

Download or read book Introduction to the English Legal System Revision Guide written by Özgür Heval Çınar and published by Transnational Press London. This book was released on 2021-02-08 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The real reason for the emergence of this book is that it is hard to find resources to explain complex issues of the EU Law in plain language, which makes it very difficult for those taking an interest, in particular law students. Moreover, many years of teaching experience in this subject and seeing students experience difficulties is the key driver behind this book. This book does not repeat material that is available in many textbooks that are in print. Rather, it endeavours to present every topic in plain language and concludes every chapter with a fictitious explanatory sample case. In other words, it is an introduction to the subject of EU Law, the objective of which is to explain the topic both theoretically and in its application dimension. Additionally, this book will assist students to prepare for courseworks/examinations. At the end of the book there is also a test that summarizes all the subjects contained in the book, which is appropriate to the first stage SQE (Solicitors Qualifying Examination) examination model that will be introduced in September 2021. ‘This is a clear and concise book with many helpful visual aids (diagrams, tables etc…) that make it very easy to follow. The content defines, explains and covers the key aspects of the English Legal System.’ Ms Amel Ketani, Barrister and Senior Lecturer at BPP University ‘Through explanation, questions and application examples, this book compliments traditional English Legal System textbooks in an easily accessible and practically useful way.’ Dr Ryan Hill, Deputy Head of School, Anglia Ruskin University Law School CONTENTS: Abbreviations About the author Foreword. CHAPTER I Introduction: History, Sources and Institutions CHAPTER II Sources of Law I: Domestic Legislation CHAPTER III Source of Law II: Case Law CHAPTER IV Source of Law III: International Law CHAPTER V The Civil Justice System CHAPTER VI The Criminal Justice System CHAPTER VII Legal Professionals in the English Legal System Summary: Sample Test Questions Answers Glossary of Legal Terminology.
