Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the ideal textbook for those students who want to sharpen their mathematics skills while they are enrolled in a physical chemistry course. It provides students with a review of calculus and differential equations which will enable them to succeed in the physical chemistry course. Features: * Completeness: contains all of the mathematics needed in undergraduate physical chemistry * Clarity: Every sentence, every example, and every equation have been constructed to make it as clear as possible * Applications-oriented: Designed for applications of mathematics, not for mathematical theory; written for a chemist who needs to use mathematics, not for a mathematician who needs to study the underlying theory

Book Computers and Their Applications to Chemistry

Download or read book Computers and Their Applications to Chemistry written by Ramesh Kumari and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2002 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It's not just test tubes and Bunsen burners anymore. Computers now rank at or near the top of the list of a chemist's most indispensable tools, and it's safe to say that no chemistry student will get very far without a good working knowledge of computers and the concepts of computer programming. Designed specifically to ensure undergraduate chemistry students have this basic proficiency, Computers and Their Applications to Chemistry introduces the fundamentals of computers, then builds a solid foundation in programming using the BASIC programming language and simple examples from chemistry. The author's straightforward approach moves smoothly from simple to complex ideas, from elementary input/output statements through data string manipulation and searching methods to graphics and numerical methods. The last two chapters discuss a variety of available software packages particularly useful in chemistry. Each chapter includes a number of solved examples followed by a set of review questions that reinforce and stimulate interest in the ideas presented.

Download or read book Chemistry by Computer written by Stephen Wilson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computers have been applied to problems in chemistry and the chemical sciences since the dawn of the computer age; however, it is only in the past ten or fifteen years that we have seen the emergence of computational chemistry as a field of research in its own right. Its practitioners, computational chemists, are neither chemists who dabble in computing nor programmers who have an interest in chemistry, but computa tional scientists whose aim is to solve a wide range of chemical problems using modern computing machines. This book gives a broad overview of the methods and techniques employed by the computational chemist and of the wide range of problems to which he is applying them. It is divided into three parts. The first part records the basics of chemistry and of computational science that are essential to an understanding of the methods of computational chemistry. These methods are described in the second part of the book. In the third part, a survey is given of some areas in which the techniques of computational chemistry are being applied. As a result of the limited space available in a single volume, the areas covered are necessarily selective. Nevertheless, a sufficiently wide range of applications are described to provide the reader with a balanced overview of the many problems being attacked by computational studies in chemistry.

Book Introduction to Scientific Programming

Download or read book Introduction to Scientific Programming written by Joseph L. Zachary and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Introduction to Computational Science" was developed over a period of two years at the University of Utah Department of Computer Science in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Energy-funded Undergraduate Computation in Engineering Science (UCES) program. Each chapter begins by introducing a problem and then guiding the student through its solution. The computational techniques needed to solve the problem are developed as necassary, making the motivation for learning the computing alwasy apparent. Each chapter will introduce a single problem that will be used to motivate a single computing concept. The notes currently consist of 15 chapters. The first seven chapters deal with Maple and the last eight with C. The textbook will contain 20 to 30 chapters covering a similar mix of concepts at a finer level of detail.

Book BASIC Programming for Chemists

Download or read book BASIC Programming for Chemists written by Peter C. Jurs and published by Wiley-Interscience. This book was released on 1987-10-02 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Teaches the fundamentals of the BASIC programming language by description and example, and presents over 50 chemically oriented BASIC programs that can both teach about the language and be useful in their own right. The first part of the book introduces the reader to programming in the BASIC language. The second part of the book consists of 52 example problems, divided into 44 topics, concerning chemical problems. These problems progress in difficulty in terms of the chemical concepts, mathematical models, and programming operations involved. The reader can work the problems, then copy and run the programs, and compare the results. The given programs can be modified to suit the reader's needs, or new ones be written using the techniques presented in the text.
