Due to Coronavirus (COVID - 19) thousands of entertainment workers have lost their jobs and are in dire financial need as bills are beginning to mount up. Despite the public perception, the vast majority of performers, stage managers and creative practitioners working in the entertainment industry earn modest sums and this sudden loss of income is devastating. “When days become so busy As along life’s road we tread We all need a friend like nothingness To have peace inside our head.”

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Newbery Honor and Coretta Scott King Author Award winner Renée Watson, the first book in a young middle grade series about Ryan Hart, a girl who is pure spirit, kindness, and sunshine. Ryan Hart can be and do anything. Her name means "king", that she is a leader, and she is determined to keep growing into the name her parents gave her. She is all about trying to see the best in people, to be a good daughter, sister, and friend. But Ryan has a lot on her mind. For instance: Dad finally has a new job, but money is still tight. That means some changes, like moving into a new (old) house, and Dad working the night shift. And with the fourth-grad talent show coming up, Ryan wonders what talent she can perform on stage in front of everyone without freezing. As even more changes and challenges come her way, Ryan always finds a way forward and shows she is a girl who knows how to glow. Acclaimed author Renée Watson writes her own version of Ramona Quimby, one starring a Black girl and her family, in this start to a charming new series. Download or read book There Is Sunshine After the Rain written by Patricia A. Saunders and published by Bookbaby. This book was released on 2018-01-28 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As I stare at the sky and wonder, why am I here? Why is the world spinning and I feel left out? I have gone through so much losing loved ones, wearing a fake smile to cover up the pain. And, as I take one step forward, I slip back two steps. I have gotten up and dusted the dirt off my shoulders and decided I am going to make it. I am determined to see the sunshine. I am on a journey. I am reminded after the rain has washed away my tears, that there is always sunshine after the rain.

Book Writing on Napkins at the Sunshine Club

Download or read book Writing on Napkins at the Sunshine Club written by Kevin Cantwell and published by Mercer University Press. This book was released on 2011 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Writing on Napkins at the Sunshine Club includes a poet laureate of Georgia and of the United States¿and the poet who read at President Clinton¿s second inauguration. The oldest was born in 1905 and the two youngest in that ominous year of American history, 1968. The Pulitzer-winning Stanley Kunitz wrote a famous poem about the Indian Mounds. Miller Williams, father of the Grammy winning Lucinda Williams, lived in Macon in the early 1960s and became a friend of Flannery O¿Connor. In the late 1970s, soon after his Mercer days, David Bottoms writes the poems for Shooting Rats at the Bibb County Dump and wins the Walt Whitman Award. Jud Mitcham wins the Devins Award for his first book, Somewhere in Ecclesiastes, and Seaborn Jones is doing his stint with Mister Rogers¿ Neighborhood and would later connect, in San Francisco, to one of the last pure lines of surrealism in American expression. Several poets came out of Macon or arrived in Macon soon after. Between Mercer University and Macon State College the activity of poetry in Macon thrived. Adrienne Bond wrote her seminal poems and started up the Georgia Poetry Circuit. Judith Ortiz Cofer passed through Macon State at the brink of her position at the University of Georgia and in American letters as an important artistic spokesperson for women¿s experience. From Bruce Beasley and his hybrid poetics, to Stephen Bluestone and his learned craft in the lyric poem, this book presents a selection for all students of Southern Literature some of the best poems of other poets, too, like Anya Silver, Amanda Pecor, Marjorie Becker, and the late Reginald Shepherd who was as well-known at his early death as any poet of his generation. Many of these poets studied with and knew the important poets of their time. The poems, nevertheless, speak for themselves.

Book Flowers in the Sunshine

Download or read book Flowers in the Sunshine written by Sarbajit Roy and published by . This book was released on 2021-05-28 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Poetry is a picture expressed in words. Every picture or photograph presents a beautiful framework for poetry. Each picture of Nature is a vision and expression of sublime poetry. A picture or photo of a person, a ruined or dilapidated building, visual portrayals of seasons, rivers, seas, mountains and hills, the dawn, the sky, a stream in the woods or the woods themselves, cities and rural areas, forests and deserts are a vast repertoire for sublime poetry. "Flowers in the sunshine " brings forth themes expressing Nature, rustic life, and Lost ream.s such as "The Lost River", "The Lost City" and "The Lost Deity", "The Lonely Tree " The Tree of Destiny", "The Village Road". Rustic life is expressed through a little girl as she, dressed in shabby clothes directs goats along the village road: " Far from the mansioned rich she lives and plays, In rustic lands where sunshine is free, Her shabby dress is rich in life always, Her village the abode of freedom be." The poem "The Mind " elucidates the freedom of the mind. 'The body is unable, but the mind can fly, Fetters of life it breaks open and soars To heights, in the realms of the sun and sky To distances, along known and unknown shores." Some poems have voiced the eloquence of Nature such as "The Lonely Tree" Lonely tree, for aeons have you stood, And watched the world and time fly pass, Your roots have rested in the soil so good, And nourished the dew on the growing grass."

Book excerpt: A small-town baker uses her magic to confront a post–vampire apocalypse world in this award-winning fantasy Neil Gaiman called “pretty much perfect.” Although it had been mostly deserted since the Voodoo Wars, there hadn’t been any trouble out at the lake for years. Rae Seddon, nicknamed Sunshine, head baker at her family’s busy and popular café in downtown New Arcadia, needed a place to get away from all the noise and confusion—of the clientele and her family. Just for a few hours. Just to be able to hear herself think. She knew about the Others, of course. Everyone did. And several of her family’s best regular customers were from SOF—Special Other Forces—which had been created to deal with the threat and the danger of the Others. She drove out to her family’s old lakeside cabin and sat on the porch, swinging her feet and enjoying the silence and the silver moonlight on the water. She never heard them coming. Of course, you don’t when they’re vampires. Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Sookie Stackhouse will cheer for this tough and quirky heroine. In Sunshine, which won the Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for Adult Literature, McKinley has a vampire novel that is “a smart, funny tale of suspense and romance” (San Francisco Chronicle).
