Book International Conference on Nuclear Structure

Download or read book International Conference on Nuclear Structure written by A. Van Der Woude and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-03 with total page 542 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International Conference on Nuclear Structure presents the status of research in nuclear structure. This book covers the more traditional topics, including giant resonances, high-spin states, current and momentum distributions in nuclei, and single particle and collective excitations at low excitation energy. Organized into eight sessions, this book begins with an overview of the experiments with low momentum antiprotons. This text then examines the interaction between two free nucleons, which can be described by their scattering matrix, by their scattering cross sections, or by relativistic or nonrelativistic potentials. Other sessions consider the results on neutron-hole states in the Zr, Sn, and Pb region from pic-up measurements. This book discusses as well the progress in the investigation of high-spin magnetic observables in medium and heavy nuclei. The final chapter deals with the methods of performing measurements of neutrino masses. This book is a valuable resource for nuclear physicists, scientists, and research workers.

Book High Energy Physics and Nuclear Structure

Download or read book High Energy Physics and Nuclear Structure written by S. Devons and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 898 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In preparing the program for this Conference, the third in the series, it soon became evident that it was not possible to in clude in a conference of reasonable duration all the topics that might be subsumed under the broad title, "High Energy Physics and Nuclear Structure. " From their initiation, in 1963, it has been as much the aim of these Conferences to provide some bridges between the steadily separating domains of particle and nuclear physics, as to explore thoroughly the borderline territory between the two - the sort of no-man's-land that lies unclaimed, or claimed by both sides. The past few years have witnessed the rapid development of many new routes connecting the two major areas of 'elementary par ticles' and 'nuclear structure', and these now spread over a great expanse of physics, logically perhaps including the whole of both subjects. (As recently as 1954, an International Conference on 'Nuclear and Meson Physics' did, in fact, embrace both fields!) Since it is not now possible to traverse, in one Conference, this whole network of connections, still less to explore the entire ter ritory it covers, the choice of topics has to be in some degree arbitrary. It is hoped that ours has served the purpose of fairly exemplifying many areas where physicists, normally separated by their diverse interests, can find interesting and important topics which bring them together.

Book Nuclear Structure and Dynamics 09

Download or read book Nuclear Structure and Dynamics 09 written by Matko Milin and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 2009-09-10 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume collects the contributions to the international conference "Nuclear Structure and Dynamics", held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, from May 4 to 8, 2009. The conference was hosted by the Physics Department of the University of Zagreb and the Ruder Boškovic Institute. Following the long tradition of nuclear physics meetings on the Adriatic coast, organized by our two institutions, the Conference presented a review of recent experimental and theoretical advances in the physics of nuclear structure and reactions, and provided a broad discussion forum on current and future research projects. The main focus was on the following topics: Nuclear structure and reactions far from stability - Exotic modes of excitation and decays - Collective phenomena and symmetries - Ab initio, cluster model, and shell-model approaches - Nuclear energy density functionals - Heavy-ion reactions at near-barrier energies - Dynamics of light-ion reactions - Nuclear reactions of astrophysical interest - Weak-interaction processes. More than 170 nuclear physicists from over 30 countries participated in "Nuclear Structure and Dynamics". The considerable interest in this meeting was reflected not only in the number of participants but also in the large number of received abstracts. Following the suggestions of the International Advisory Committee, only about half of the submitted abstracts could be selected for oral presentation. In addition to 24 invited talks, more than 80 oral contributions were presented. An evening poster session was organized as part of the conference. An effort was made to provide the opportunity for young researchers to present their work, and selected posters were accepted for very short oral presentation.

Book Nuclear Structure Study with Neutrons

Download or read book Nuclear Structure Study with Neutrons written by J. Ero and published by Springer. This book was released on 2011-10-17 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Conference on "Nuclear Structure Study with Neutrons" or ganized in Budapest between 31st July and 5th August. 1972. was the successor of a meeting held seven years ago in Antwerp. The close links between the two conferences were revealed not in name alone but. more importantly. in the choice of subjects discussed. As in Antwerp. the lectures and contributions to the Budapest Conference could be grouped under the following five main headings: nuclear spectroscopy; the optical model; the statistical model and intermediate structures; the mechanism of neutron capture and non-statistical effects; and, finally. miscellaneous special topics. The invited papers on the one hand summarizing recent developments and current thinking in one of the above main topics. and the other surveying the most important results of the contributed papers submitted to the Conference. were presented on the plenary sessions. Most of the contributed papers were read in full on three parallel sessions. This volume contains the complete text of all the lectures delivered in the plenary sessions and abstracts of the contributed papers. The invited talks were presented at the Conference in a rather random order because of technical reasons, it seemed. however, more sensible to change their order according to their subjects and to print them grouped under the above main headings. Further more we divided the Proceedings into two main parts, the first containing only the lectures of summarizing character. the second including the abstracts of the contributions together with the surveying talks.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High Energy Physics and Nuclear Structure covers the proceedings of the Ninth International Conference on High Energy Physics and Nuclear Structure, held in Versailles on July 6-10, 1981. The book focuses on the processes, reactions, and methodologies involved in high energy physics and nuclear structure. The selection first offers information on experiments on antinucleon-nucleon, baryonium, nucleon-nucleon, and dibaryons and the quark model pion and the goldstone pion. Discussions focus on antinucleon-nucleon and baryonium, nucleon-nucleon and dibaryon, and spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry. The text also ponders on quarks and nuclei, multiquark resonant states, and electron scattering from complex nuclei. The publication elaborates on electromagnetic interactions on light nuclei, electromagnetic interactions with nuclei at high momentum transfer, and inelastic electron scattering at low energy. The book also touches on the dynamics of hadron nucleus interactions, hypernuclei and interactions of kaons with nuclei, and pion-nucleus scattering theory. The selection is a dependable reference for readers interested in high energy structure and nuclear physics.

Book excerpt: The International Conference "Bologna 2000: Structure of the Nucleus at the Dawn of the Century" was devoted to a discipline which has seen a strong revival of research activities in the last decade. New experimental results and theoretical developments in nuclear physics will certainly make important contributions to our knowledge and understanding of Nature's fundamental building blocks. The interest aroused by the Conference among the scientific community was clearly reflected in the large number of participants. These represented the most important nuclear physics laboratories in the world. The Conference covered five major topics of modern nuclear physics: nuclear structure, nucleus-nucleus collisions, hadron dynamics, nuclear astrophysics, and transdisciplinary and peaceful applications of nuclear science. It reviewed recent progress in the field and provided a forum for the discussion of current and future research projects.
