Book Wide Bandwidth High Dynamic Range D A Converters

Download or read book Wide Bandwidth High Dynamic Range D A Converters written by Konstantinos Doris and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-01-12 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: IGH-SPEED Digital to Analog (D/A) converters are essential components in digi- Htal communication systems providing the necessary conversion of signals encoding information in bits to signals encoding information in their amplitude vs. time domain characteristics. In general, they are parts of a larger system, the interface, which c- sists of several signal conditioning circuits. Dependent on where the converter is located within the chain of circuits in the interface, signal processing operations are partitioned in those realized with digital techniques, and those with analog. The rapid evolution of CMOS technology has established implicit and explicite trends related to the interface, and in particular to the D/A converter. The implicit relationship comes via the growth of digital systems. First, it is a global trend with respect to all interface circuits that increasing operating frequencies of digital systems place a similar demand for the interface circuits. The second trend takes place locally within the int- face. Initially, the D/A converter was placed at the beginning of the interface chain, and all signal conditioning was implemented in the analog domain after the D/A conversion. The increasing ?exibility and robustness of digital signal processing shifted the D/A converter closer to the end point of the chain where the demands for high quality high frequency operation are very high.

Book Bandwidth Bubble Bust

Download or read book Bandwidth Bubble Bust written by Grahame Lynch and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2001-07 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Telecommunications was the star industry in the world economy until 2000. But the collapse of NASDAQ wiped hundreds of billions of dollars in value from telecom stocks, heralding a wave of lay-offs and bankruptcies. In this essential book, Grahame Lynch argues that the bandwidth bubble bust was caused by more than irrational exuberance – it was the resultt of a whole range of causes including distorted government regulation, erroneous assumptions about the reality of the Internet and blind faith in global market opportunities. Bandwidth Bubble Bust strives to get behind recent telecom hype and the current backlash, employing a careful consideration of empirical evidence and case studies in industry failure dating back to 1993.

Book Competition Policy and Intellectual Property in Today s Global Economy

Download or read book Competition Policy and Intellectual Property in Today s Global Economy written by Robert D. Anderson and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2021-08-05 with total page 925 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fast-evolving relationship between the promotion of welfare-enhancing competition and the balanced protection of intellectual property (IP) rights has attracted the attention of policymakers, analysts and scholars. This interest is inevitable in an environment that lays ever greater emphasis on the management of knowledge and innovation and on mechanisms to ensure that the public derives the expected social and economic benefits from this innovation and the spread of knowledge. This book looks at the positive linkage between IP and competition in jurisdictions around the world, surveying developments and policy issues from an international and comparative perspective. It includes analysis of key doctrinal and policy issues by leading academics and practitioners from around the globe and a cutting-edge survey of related developments across both developed and developing economies. It also situates current policy developments at the national level in the context of multilateral developments, at WIPO, WTO and elsewhere.

Book Bandwidth Efficient Digital Modulation with Application to Deep Space Communications

Download or read book Bandwidth Efficient Digital Modulation with Application to Deep Space Communications written by Marvin K. Simon and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2005-03-04 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An important look at bandwidth-efficient modulations with applications to today's Space program Based on research and results obtained at the California Institute of Technology's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, this timely book defines, describes, and then delineates the performance (power and bandwidth) of digital communication systems that incorporate a wide variety of bandwidth-efficient modulations appropriate for the design and implementation of space communications systems. The author compares the performance of these systems in the presence of a number of practical (non-ideal) transmitter and receiver characteristics such as modulator and phase imbalance, imperfect carrier synchronization, and transmitter nonlinearity. Although the material focuses on the deep space applications developed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the presentation is sufficiently broad as to be applicable to a host of other applications dealing with RF communications. An important contribution to the scientific literature, Bandwidth-Efficient Digital Modulation with Application to Deep Space Communications * was commissioned by the JPL Deep Space Communications and Navigation System Center of Excellence * highlights many NASA-funded technical contributions pertaining to deep space communications systems * is a part of the prestigious Deep Space Communications and Navigation Series The Deep Space Communications and Navigation Series is authored by scientists and engineers with extensive experience in astronautics, communications, and related fields. It lays the foundation for innovation in the areas of deep space navigation and communications by disseminating state-of-the-art knowledge in key technologies.
