Book Inter vehicle Communication Systems Improvement

Download or read book Inter vehicle Communication Systems Improvement written by Najmeh Khosroshahi and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2014-03 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main goal of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) is to improve traffic efficiency and mobile safety. The Dedicated Short Range Communication system (DSRC) standard based inter-vehicle communications system plays a key role in ITS [1]. In October 1999, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) allocated the frequency spectrum between 5.850 and 5.925 GHz for DSRC, which will enable vehicles to communicate with the road infrastructure, and allows for a large number of ITS applications. This provides an opportunity for automakers, government agencies, and related commercial entities to improve highway safety. However, inter-vehicle communications must operate effectively within transmit power limits and under received signal strength uctuations and Doppler spread. Conventionally, Convolutional coding was employed for forward error correction (FEC);however, in this book, we consider DSRC performance using Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes and Quasi-Cyclic (QC)-LDPC codes under different channel conditions. Results show that a QC-LDPC code provide an attractive trade off between performance and complexity, and should be considered as an alternative for DSRC systems.

Book Inter Vehicle Communication at Intersections

Download or read book Inter Vehicle Communication at Intersections written by Thomas Mangel and published by KIT Scientific Publishing. This book was released on 2014-07-30 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book evaluates the ability of ad-hoc and cellular communication to enable cross-traffic assistance at intersections. Potential issues like Non-Line-Of-Sight (NLOS) reception with ad-hoc and limited capacity, higher latency and costs with cellular technology are investigated in two individual evaluations. A method for efficient information delivery via cellular systems and an inter-vehicle NLOS radio propagation model are proposed. Finally, the suitability of both technologies is compared.

Download or read book Inter Vehicular Data Communication written by Sophea Chhun and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2010-10 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Technology keeps improving and people keep requesting for safety and comfort. If we consider in transportation domain, the number of vehicles is increasing every day. Their popularity brings many problems in areas of safety and also environment. Therefore, there are many researchers working in this domain to find solutions on how they can improve safety, comfort in people s life and reduce pollution. There are many existing solutions in inter vehicle communication system and intelligent transportation system. However, there are still some areas that require improvement. This work, we focus on data management level rather than network level. Our goal is to collect all events and then aggregate them together in order to reduce data storage size, package transfer size and response time to driver s queries; and finally to control the exchange aggregated data process between vehicles. To solve these problems, we implemented an aggregation simulator by using a proposed aggregation data structure; and data that was generated by VESPA (Vehicular Event Sharing with a mobile P2P Architecture) parking simulator.

Book Research Study on Inter vehicle Communication Implementation in Malaysia

Download or read book Research Study on Inter vehicle Communication Implementation in Malaysia written by Mohd Fakhrul Anwar Alias and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 67 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communications systems have recently drawn great attention, because they have the potential to improve convenience and safety of car traffic. Road accidents take the life of many people in the world each year, and much more people have been injuring and maiming. Statistical studies show that accidents could be avoid by 60% if drivers were informed only half a second before the accident. The objective of this report is to make an analysis of the possibility of implementing this technology in Malaysia. This research study is as guidance to develop a concept of V2V system. Applications with early deadlines are expected to require direct V2V communications, and the only standard currently supporting this is the IEEE 802.11p, included in the wireless access in vehicular environment (WAVE). The combination of WAVE and GPS is a good idea to forming collision avoidance system. The GPS system determines the location of vehicles and the WAVE system forming an ad- hoc peer-to-peer networking among the vehicles.V2V communication enable vehicle to communicate with their neighbouring vehicles even in the absence of a central base station to provide a safer and more efficient roads and to increase passenger safety. This technology can be implements in Malaysia but in order to do it some changing had to be made first to ensure the effectiveness of the technology. V2V communication should have a Doppler sensor as a device sensor that can integrates with cruise control to form adaptive cruise control. Other than that, it also need WAVE to assure a reliable communication system between vehicles. The GPS system is needs to determine exact location of car that can be use in roadways environment such as overtaking situation.

Book Vehicular 2 X Communication

Download or read book Vehicular 2 X Communication written by Radu Popescu-Zeletin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-04-26 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Universal vehicular communication promises many improvements in terms of ac- dent avoidance and mitigation, better utilization of roads and resources such as time and fuel, and new opportunities for infotainment applications. However, before widespread acceptance, vehicular communication must meet challenges comparable to the trouble and disbelief that accompanied the introduction of traf c lights back then. The rst traf c light was installed in 1868 in London to signal railway, but only later, in 1912, was invented the rst red-green electric traf c light. And roughly 50 years after the rst traf c light, in 1920, the rst four-way traf c signal comparable to our today’s traf c lights was introduced. The introduction of traf c signals was necessary after automobiles soon became prevalent once the rst car in history, actually a wooden motorcycle, was constructed in 1885. Soon, the scene became complicated, requiring the introduction of the “right-of-way” philosophy and later on the very rst traf c light. In the same way the traf c light was a necessary mean to regulate the beginning of the automotive life and to protect drivers, passengers, as well as pedestrians and other inhabitants of the road infrastructure, vehicular communication is necessary to accommodate the further growth of traf c volume and to signi cantly reduce the number of accidents.
