Book excerpt: SICICA'97 was the third symposium in the series (1992, Malaga - Spain; 1994, Budapest - Hungary). It was sponsored by the Technical Committee on Components and Instruments and was organized by the Laboratoire d'Automatique et de MicroInformatique Industrielle, Universiteacute; de Savoie, on behalf of AFCET, the National Member Organization. The symposium was held in the Impeacute;rial Palace Congress Center, Annecy. 178 papers were submitted as draft papers and reviewed by the International Program Committee members who selected 117 papers coming from 25 countries. The topics covered include: the evolution of electronic components, especially mircocontrollers and digital signal processors which can be used for the implementation of instruments where intelligence is located in the processing; problems and solutions using fieldbuses for the control of automated processes; and the principal phases in the industrialisation of microsystems which associate micromechanics and microelectronics. The Symposium showed the vitality of the research in the field of intelligent instruments and components.

These proceedings focus on 13 sessions, covering, fieldbus based systems, services, protocols and profiles, system integration with heterogeneous networks, management, real-time, safety, dependability and security, distributed embedded systems, wireless networking for field applications, education and emerging trends. Two keynote speeches from experts outside Europe are featured. The first one entitled "Bandwidth Allocation Scheme in Fieldbuses" by Prof. Seung Ho, Hanyang University, Korea. The second by, Prof. I.F. Akyildiz, Georgia Institute of Technology, USA, "Key Technologies for Wireless Networking in the Next Decade". - Featuring 36 high quality papers from 13 countries - Keynote speech reflecting the current interest of wireless communications for industrial applications - FeT'2005 was supported by a International Program Committee of around 40 members from 15 countries, 6 from Europe
Download or read book Intelligent Assembly and Disassembly 2001 written by Peter Kopacek and published by Pergamon. This book was released on 2002 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rapid development observed in modern production systems is firmly connected with the development of new assembly and disassembly systems. One of the oldest forms of industrial production, assembly, and its twin area disassembly, have both enjoyed tremendous modernisation in the era of the Information Revolution. New enabling technologies, including prominent examples such as virtual CAD, Design for Assembly and Disassembly (DFAD), Robotic and Intelligent Assembly and Flexible Assembly (FA) are now becoming commonplace. This volume presents the papers from the 2nd IFAC Workshop on 'Intelligent Assembly and Disassembly - IAD 2001'. The colloquium highlighted the issues of IAD, showed the actual results of the research and development work, set the direction of future development, and analysed the possibility of introducing IAD into production processes. Including 3 invited papers, and 17 technical papers authored by researchers from across the globe, the papers cover important fields of product development such as product design, development of planning systems, simulation and modelling, as well as sessions on e-manufacturing and education.
Download or read book Diagnosis and Fault Tolerant Control written by Mogens Blanke and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 583 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents model-based analysis and design methods for fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control. Architectural and structural models are used to analyse the propagation of the fault through the process, test fault detectability and reveal redundancies that can be used to ensure fault tolerance. Case studies demonstrate the methods presented. The second edition includes new material on reconfigurable control, diagnosis of nonlinear systems, and remote diagnosis, plus new examples and updated bibliography.

Aristotle Teaching should be such that what is offered is perceived as a valuable gift and not as a hard duty. Albert Einstein The second most important job in the world, second only to being a good parent, is being a good teacher. S.G. Ellis The fast technological changes and the resulting shifts of market conditions require the development and use of educational methodologies and opportunities with moderate economic demands. Currently, there is an increasing number of edu- tional institutes that respond to this challenge through the creation and adoption of distance education programs in which the teachers and students are separated by physical distance. It has been verified in many cases that, with the proper methods and tools, teaching and learning at a distance can be as effective as traditional fa- to-face instruction. Today, distance education is primarily performed through the Internet, which is the biggest and most powerful computer network of the World, and the World Wide Web (WWW), which is an effective front-end to the Internet and allows the Internet users to uniformly access a large repertory of resources (text, data, images, sound, video, etc.) available on the Internet.

Download or read book Industrial Communication Systems written by Bogdan M. Wilamowski and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 963 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Industrial Electronics Handbook, Second Edition, Industrial Communications Systems combines traditional and newer, more specialized knowledge that helps industrial electronics engineers develop practical solutions for the design and implementation of high-power applications. Embracing the broad technological scope of the field, this collection explores fundamental areas, including analog and digital circuits, electronics, electromagnetic machines, signal processing, and industrial control and communications systems. It also facilitates the use of intelligent systems—such as neural networks, fuzzy systems, and evolutionary methods—in terms of a hierarchical structure that makes factory control and supervision more efficient by addressing the needs of all production components. Enhancing its value, this fully updated collection presents research and global trends as published in the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics Journal, one of the largest and most respected publications in the field. Modern communication systems in factories use many different—and increasingly sophisticated—systems to send and receive information. Industrial Communication Systems spans the full gamut of concepts that engineers require to maintain a well-designed, reliable communications system that can ensure successful operation of any production process. Delving into the subject, this volume covers: Technical principles Application-specific areas Technologies Internet programming Outlook, including trends and expected challenges Other volumes in the set: Fundamentals of Industrial Electronics Power Electronics and Motor Drives Control and Mechatronics Intelligent Systems
