Book Integration of Vocational Education and Training Experiences

Download or read book Integration of Vocational Education and Training Experiences written by Sarojni Choy and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-06-19 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book draws on experiences from a range of vocational education systems in different nation states and re-examines the purpose of providing experiences outside educational institutions; the kinds and extent of those experiences; and efforts made to ensure the integration of students’ experiences across sites. Analyses of the various vocational education systems, their purposes and practices across nations, and challenges experienced by different stakeholders illustrate different approaches to the integration of learning at different sites. The book includes a consideration of what constitutes the integration and reconciliation of experiences, and their attendant educational implications. This extends an appraisal of the concepts of integration, reconciliation, curriculum and work readiness, each of which has a range of connotations. Integration or reconciliation is differentiated from transfer of learning, which is commonly based on simple assumptions that the educational institutions will provide theory and that the workplaces will provide practice from the workplaces, and that the two can be easily linked by students. The contributions from different nation states clearly demonstrate that integration is a collaborative process and requires the agency of stakeholders operating at global, national and specific learning site levels.

Download or read book Exploring the Evolution of Special Education Practices A Systems Approach written by Joe Ifeanyi Monye and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2013-04 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Exploring the history of disability and special education practices from the seventeenth to the twenty-first century indicates similar ideas and similar human approaches that have developed independently over time. People who survived the eugenics movement were placed in asylums and segregated special schools. In Europe and America, the general systems theory has been applied as a "logico-mathematical" discipline to include students of all special needs categories in their placements and education. The systems approach to special education practices has evolved from a historical model of diagnoses and cures to the biological and ecological models, integrating technology as the driving force in implementing curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

Used as a textbook in many universities, it lists and explains dozens of new U.S. laws and amendments from the past decade and situates them in the context of states and districts. It investigates the goals and requirements of dozens of education programs and clarifies government regulations affecting students as well as citizens who come in contact with schools, e.g., disabled individuals, job-seekers, employees, non-English-speaking parents and many other groups. Encompassing and yet going far beyond special education, the text offers pointers and case studies on how programs should be administered to improve learning outcomes as well as heighten a school's community profile. The detailed, concrete information in this book is indispensable for understanding government requirements, accessing the right agencies, reducing discrimination, and avoiding legal entanglements. At the same time, the 10 chapters of this volume are readily integrated into a syllabus for courses on special programs in schools.

Book The Global Convergence Of Vocational and Special Education

Download or read book The Global Convergence Of Vocational and Special Education written by John Richardson and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2016-12-01 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The global trend in educational participation has brought with it a cross-national consequence: the expansion of students with "special needs" (SEN) placed in special education and the growth of "low achieving" students diverted to vocational tracks. This book explores the global expansion of special and vocational education as a highly variable event, not only across nations of considerable economic, political and cultural difference, but between nations with evident similarities as well. The Global Convergence of Vocational and Special Education analyzes how the concept of secular benevolence underscores the divergent and convergent trajectories that vocational and special education have taken across the globe. The authors embrace national differences as the means to observe two dicta of comparative research: similar origins can result in very different outcomes, and similar outcomes can be the result of very different origins.
