Book Integrated Silicon Device Technology Volume Xvi Functional Design

Download or read book Integrated Silicon Device Technology Volume Xvi Functional Design written by J. N. Brown and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The design of silicon monolithic integrated circuits is discussed. The second and third major sections are concerned with general aspects of integrated circuit technology and the design and characteristics of both passive and active integrated components. These two sections are intended primarily for those individuals who are not familiar with integrated circuit concepts. Factors such as the desirability and ease of employing relatively large numbers of active devices, matched components, resistance ratios and temperature and voltage compensation in integrated circuits are discussed. The fourth section is a discussion of digital integrated circuits. Different logic types are compared and the design of single gates as well as more complex digital circuits and systems are considered. Analog circuit design is discussed in the last section. One of the major objectives of this section is the presentation of methods for eliminating the need for inductance and large-value capacitance in integrated circuits. Unconventional approaches to designing frequency selective circuits and 'desensitized' circuits are also covered. (Author).

Book Silicon Devices and Process Integration

Download or read book Silicon Devices and Process Integration written by Badih El-Kareh and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-01-09 with total page 614 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Silicon Devices and Process Integration covers state-of-the-art silicon devices, their characteristics, and their interactions with process parameters. It serves as a comprehensive guide which addresses both the theoretical and practical aspects of modern silicon devices and the relationship between their electrical properties and processing conditions. The book is compiled from the author’s industrial and academic lecture notes and reflects years of experience in the development of silicon devices. Features include: A review of silicon properties which provides a foundation for understanding the device properties discussion, including mobility-enhancement by straining silicon; State-of-the-art technologies on high-K gate dielectrics, low-K dielectrics, Cu interconnects, and SiGe BiCMOS; CMOS-only applications, such as subthreshold current and parasitic latch-up; Advanced Enabling processes and process integration. This book is written for engineers and scientists in semiconductor research, development and manufacturing. The problems at the end of each chapter and the numerous charts, figures and tables also make it appropriate for use as a text in graduate and advanced undergraduate courses in electrical engineering and materials science.

Book Polycrystalline Silicon for Integrated Circuits and Displays

Download or read book Polycrystalline Silicon for Integrated Circuits and Displays written by Ted Kamins and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 391 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Polycrystalline Silicon for Integrated Circuits and Displays, Second Edition presents much of the available knowledge about polysilicon. It represents an effort to interrelate the deposition, properties, and applications of polysilicon. By properly understanding the properties of polycrystalline silicon and their relation to the deposition conditions, polysilicon can be designed to ensure optimum device and integrated-circuit performance. Polycrystalline silicon has played an important role in integrated-circuit technology for two decades. It was first used in self-aligned, silicon-gate, MOS ICs to reduce capacitance and improve circuit speed. In addition to this dominant use, polysilicon is now also included in virtually all modern bipolar ICs, where it improves the basic physics of device operation. The compatibility of polycrystalline silicon with subsequent high-temperature processing allows its efficient integration into advanced IC processes. This compatibility also permits polysilicon to be used early in the fabrication process for trench isolation and dynamic random-access-memory (DRAM) storage capacitors. In addition to its integrated-circuit applications, polysilicon is becoming vital as the active layer in the channel of thin-film transistors in place of amorphous silicon. When polysilicon thin-film transistors are used in advanced active-matrix displays, the peripheral circuitry can be integrated into the same substrate as the pixel transistors. Recently, polysilicon has been used in the emerging field of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), especially for microsensors and microactuators. In these devices, the mechanical properties, especially the stress in the polysilicon film, are critical to successful device fabrication. Polycrystalline Silicon for Integrated Circuits and Displays, Second Edition is an invaluable reference for professionals and technicians working with polycrystalline silicon in the integrated circuit and display industries.
