This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 636 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the work of researchers in the Esprit Fully Integrated Data Environments (FIDE) projects which had the goal of substantially improving the quality of complex application systems while massively reducing the cost of building and maintaining them. It reports on the design and development of new integrated environments to support the construction and operation of persistent application systems, and on the principles employed to design, test, and implement such systems.

Download or read book Rules in Database Systems written by Norman W. Paton and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 419 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the proceedings of a workshop held at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh in August 1993. The central theme of the workshop was rules in database systems, and the papers presented covered a range of different aspects of database rule systems. These aspects are reflected in the sessions of the workshop, which are the same as the sections in this proceedings: Active Databases Architectures Incorporating Temporal Rules Rules and Transactions Analysis and Debugging of Active Rules Integrating Graphs/Objects with Deduction Integrating Deductive and Active Rules Integrity Constraints Deductive Databases The incorporation of rules into database systems is an important area of research, as it is a major component in the integration of behavioural information with the structural data with which commercial databases have traditionally been associated. This integration of the behavioural aspects of an application with the data to which it applies in database systems leads to more straightforward application development and more efficient processing of data. Many novel applications seem to need database systems in which structural and behavioural information are fully integrated. Rules are only one means of expressing behavioural information, but it is clear that different types of rule can be used to capture directly different properties of an application which are cumbersome to support using conventional database architectures. In recent years there has been a surge of research activity focusing upon active database systems, and this volume opens with a collection of papers devoted specifically to this topic.

Download or read book A Comprehensive Database of Tests on Axially Loaded Piles Driven in Sand written by Zhongxuan Yang and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2015-11-11 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Comprehensive Database of Tests on Axially Loaded Driven Piles in Sands reviews the critical need to develop better load-test databases for piles driven in sands. The key quality parameters, population of current entries and reporting formats are described before offering preliminary results obtained from comparisons between axial capacities calculated by various predictive approaches and site measurements. This book also shows that the "simplified" and "offshore" ICP and UWA variants proposed by some practitioners are over-conservative and that their use could be discontinued. The new pile capacity and stiffness database offers a broad scope for evaluating potential prediction biases relating to a wide range of soil and pile parameters. Submission of further high quality tests for inclusion in regularly updated versions is encouraged. - Presents a comprehensive and updated database for piles driven in predominantly silica sands - Features reviews of the design procedures for driven piles in sand - Assesses the performance of various mainstreams design procedures applied for piles driven in sand - Provides comprehensive information of case histories of pile load tests

Download or read book Distributed Databases in Real Time Control written by M.G. Rodd and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-07-04 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problems surrounding the subject of distributed databases in real-time control were addressed at the workshop. The difficulties included finding new, high-level conceptual models as conventional solutions are rendered useless in distributed databases. The other problems covered include the difficulties faced due to huge transaction fluxes and time constraints. The papers cover these theoretical issues plus an applications section which provides case studies of efficient applied systems which will be important for the development of this essential field.
