This book was released on 2004 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: L'OBJECTIF FONDAMENTAL DE CETTE THESE EST L’ANALYSE PAR MICROSCOPIE ELECTRONIQUE EN TRANSMISSION DES MECANISMES D’ACCOMMODATION DES DISLOCATIONS DE MATRICE DISSOCIEES DANS LES JOINTS DE GRAINS DU CUIVRE, ETUDE PRIMORDIALE POUR COMPRENDRE LE COMPORTEMENT MECANIQUE DES MATERIAUX CRISTALLINS.DANS LES JOINTS DE BASSE ENERGIE S3 {111}, DEUX RESULTATS IMPORTANTS SONT OBTENUS: SI LE PLAN DE L’INTERFACE EST UN PLAN DE GLISSEMENT POUR LA DISLOCATION INCIDENTE, UNE INCORPORATION PAR RECOMBINAISON DES DISLOCATIONS PARTIELLES DE SHOCKLEY EST MISE EN EVIDENCE. EN CAS CONTRAIRE, L’HYPOTHESE LA PLUS PROBABLE CONSIDERE L’ENTREE PUIS LA DECOMPOSITION DE LA DISLOCATION PARTIELLE DE TETE EN UNE DISLOCATION GLISSILE DU RESEAU DE JOINT ET UNE DISLOCATION SESSILE DE TYPE STAIR-ROD, PROCESSUS SUIVIS DE L’ENTREE DE LA SECONDE PARTIELLE.DANS UN JOINT DE HAUTE ENERGIE S9 {221}, L’EVOLUTION RAPIDE DE L’ACCOMMODATION A TEMPERATURE AMBIANTE DES PRODUITS DE DECOMPOSITION D’UNE DISLOCATION EXTRINSEQUE DANS LE RESEAU INTRINSEQUE TEMOIGNE D’UNE FORTE DIFFUSIVITE DU JOINT A BASSE TEMPERATURE. PAR AILLEURS, LA STRUCTURE DES JOINTS S9, OBSERVEE PAR MICROSCOPIE ELECTRONIQUE A HAUTE RESOLUTION, SE COMPOSE DE FACETTES SYMETRIQUES ET ASYMETRIQUES. LE COUPLAGE OBSERVATIONS-SIMULATIONS ATOMIQUES MONTRE QUE LES PARTIES ASYMETRIQUES SE DECRIVENT PAR LE MODELE DES UNITES STRUCTURALES ET QU’ELLES SONT DE PLUS BASSE ENERGIE QUE LES PARTIES SYMETRIQUES.ENFIN, POUR UN JOINT GENERAL, UN ESSAI PAR DEFORMATION IN-SITU REVELE L’ACCOMMODATION SPONTANEE DE DISLOCATIONS DES LEUR ENTREE DANS LE JOINT. CE DERNIER SEMBLE SE COMPORTER COMME UNE COUCHE QUASI-VISQUEUSE, LA DISLOCATION EXTRINSEQUE COMME UNE DENSITE DE DEFORMATION.

Book Les joints de grains

Download or read book Les joints de grains written by Louisette Priester and published by EDP Sciences. This book was released on 2012-12-03T00:00:00+01:00 with total page 507 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Physics of Solid Solution Strengthening

Download or read book Physics of Solid Solution Strengthening written by E. Collings and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the proceedings of a Symposium entitled "The Physics of Solid-Solution Strengthening in Alloys" which was held at McCormick Place, Chicago, on October 2, 1973, in association with a joint meeting of the American Society for Metals (ASM) and The Metallurgical Society (TMS) of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers (AIME). The symposium, which was initiated and organized by the editors of this volume, was sponsored by the Committee on Alloy Phases, Institute of Metals Division, TMS, AIME, and the Flow and Fracture Section of the Materials Science Division, ASM. The discipline of Alloy Design has been very active in recent years, during which considerable stress has been placed on the roles of crystallography and microstructure in the rationalization and prediction of properties. Underestimated as a component of alloy design, however, has been the importance of physical property studies, even though physical property measurements have tradi tionally been employed to augment direct or x-ray observations in the determination of phase equilibrium (and, indeed, metastable equilibrium) boundaries.

Book Biochar for Environmental Management

Download or read book Biochar for Environmental Management written by Dr. Johannes Lehmann and published by Earthscan. This book was released on 2009 with total page 449 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Biochar is the carbon-rich product when biomass (such as wood, manure, or crop residues) is heated in a closed container with little or no available air. It can be used to improve agriculture and the environment in several ways, and its stability in soil and superior nutrient-retention properties make it an ideal soil amendment to increase crop yields. In addition to this, biochar sequestration, in combination with sustainable biomass production, can be carbon-negative and therefore used to actively remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, with major implications for mitigation of climate change. Biochar production can also be combined with bioenergy production through the use of the gases that are given off in the pyrolysis process. This book is the first to synthesize the expanding research literature on this topic. The book's interdisciplinary approach, which covers engineering, environmental sciences, agricultural sciences, economics and policy, is a vital tool at this stage of biochar technology development. This comprehensive overview of current knowledge will be of interest to advanced students, researchers and professionals in a wide range of disciplines"--Provided by publisher.

Book Defects Fracture and Fatigue

Download or read book Defects Fracture and Fatigue written by G. Sih and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Second International Symposium on Defects, Fracture and Fatigue took place at Mont Gabriel, Quebec, Canada, May 30 to June 5, 1982, and was organized by the Mechanical Engineering Department of McGill University and Institute of Fracture and Solid Mechanics, Lehigh University. The Co-Chairmen of the Sympo sium were Professor G.C. Sih of Lehigh University and Professor J.W. Provan of McGill University. Among those who served on the Organizing Committee were G.C. Sih (Co-Chairman), J.W. Provan (Co-Chairman), H. Mughrabi, H. Zorski, R. Bullough, M. Matczynski, G. Barenblatt and G. Caglioti. As a result of the interest expressed at the First Symposium that was held in October 1980, in Po land, the need for a follow-up meeting to further explore the phenomena of mate rial damage became apparent. Among the areas considered were dislocations, per sistent-slip-bands, void creation, microcracking, microstructure effects, micro/ macro fracture mechanics, ductile fracture criteria, fatigue crack initiation and propagation, stress and failure analysis, deterministic and statistical crack models, and fracture control. This wide spectrum of topics attracted researchers and engineers in solid state physics, continuum mechanics, applied mathematics, metallurgy and fracture mechanics from many different countries. This spectrum is also indicative of the interdisciplinary character of material damage that must be addressed at the atomic, microscopic and macroscopic scale level.

Book Continuum Scale Simulation of Engineering Materials

Download or read book Continuum Scale Simulation of Engineering Materials written by Dierk Raabe and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2006-03-06 with total page 885 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book fills a gap by presenting our current knowledge and understanding of continuum-based concepts behind computational methods used for microstructure and process simulation of engineering materials above the atomic scale. The volume provides an excellent overview on the different methods, comparing the different methods in terms of their respective particular weaknesses and advantages. This trains readers to identify appropriate approaches to the new challenges that emerge every day in this exciting domain. Divided into three main parts, the first is a basic overview covering fundamental key methods in the field of continuum scale materials simulation. The second one then goes on to look at applications of these methods to the prediction of microstructures, dealing with explicit simulation examples, while the third part discusses example applications in the field of process simulation. By presenting a spectrum of different computational approaches to materials, the book aims to initiate the development of corresponding virtual laboratories in the industry in which these methods are exploited. As such, it addresses graduates and undergraduates, lecturers, materials scientists and engineers, physicists, biologists, chemists, mathematicians, and mechanical engineers.
