Book Input output Economics

Download or read book Input output Economics written by Wassily Leontief and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 1986 with total page 449 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of writings provides the only comprehensive introduction to the input-output model for which Leontief was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1973. The structural approach to economics developed by Leontief, and known as input-output analysis, paved the way for the transformation of economics into a truly empirical discipline that could utilize modern data processing technology. This thoroughly revised second edition includes twenty essays--twelve of which are new to this edition--that reflect the past developments and the present state of the field. Beginning with an introductory chapter, the book leads the reader into an understanding of the input-output approach--not only as formal theory but also as a research strategy and powerful tool for dealing with a complex modern economy.

Book Input Output Models for Sustainable Industrial Systems

Download or read book Input Output Models for Sustainable Industrial Systems written by Raymond R. Tan and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-09-12 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses the specialized topic of input–output models for sustainable industrial systems. While these models are well-established tools for economic analysis, their underlying mathematical structure is also applicable to the analysis and optimization of a wide range of systems that are characterized by linear interdependencies among their components. This means that input–output models can be used for diverse networks, such as processes within industrial plants, industrial plants in a supply chain, or departmental units within an organization. The models can also be readily extended to interactions between man-made systems and the environment, e.g. flows of natural resources and/or pollutants. Furthermore, model variants with excess degrees of freedom can be formulated to allow optimization and decision-making to be integrated within the framework. This book examines how input–output models can be applied to sustainable industrial systems. Each major variant is discussed separately in a dedicated chapter, and representative case studies and supporting LINGO code are also included.

Book Economic Structure and Maturity Collected Papers in Input output Modelling and Applications

Download or read book Economic Structure and Maturity Collected Papers in Input output Modelling and Applications written by Ranko Bon and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-10-26 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This title was first published in 2000: A collection of Ranko Bon's papers on input-output analysis and its applications. The underlying feature of the papers is a focus on the supply-side input-output model, which better predicts the behaviour of mature economic sectors, such as agriculture and mining, than the demand-sided model. The construction sector is especially relevant in the context of economic stability and maturity issues, as it offers an index of economic maturity for entire economies. This is the main theme that evolves through the papers collected in the book.

Book Regional Input output Modelling

Download or read book Regional Input output Modelling written by John Hugh Llewelyn Dewhurst and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a collection of papers written for a conference held in September 1989. The papers deal with topics of current debate in regional and inter-regional input-output groups: a set which consider the internal analysis of input-output tables; a set which consider sophisticated regional analysis based on regional tables; and a set that considers the problems of using input-output tables in more complex models of regional and inter-regional economies. The papers strike a balance reviewing the current practice in input-output analysis and suggesting possible avenues for future development of the area.

Book Handbook of Input Output Economics in Industrial Ecology

Download or read book Handbook of Input Output Economics in Industrial Ecology written by Sangwon Suh and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-05-13 with total page 885 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Industrial Ecology (IE) is an emerging multidisciplinary field. University departments and higher education programs are being formed on the subject following the lead of Yale University, The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Leiden University, University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Carnegie Mellon University, University of California at Berkeley, Institute for Superior Technology in Lisbon, Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH) Zürich, and The University of Tokyo. IE deals with stocks and flows in interconnected networks of industry and the environment, which relies on a basic framework for analysis. Among others, Input-Output Analysis (IOA) is recognized as a key conceptual and analytical framework for IE. A major challenge is that the field of IOA manifests a long history since the 1930s with two Nobel Prize Laureates in the field and requires considerable analytical rigor. This led many instructors and researchers to call for a high-quality publication on the subject which embraces both state-of-the-art theory and principles as well as practical applications.

Book The Economics of Input Output Analysis

Download or read book The Economics of Input Output Analysis written by Thijs ten Raa and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2006-01-19 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Input-output analysis is the main tool of applied equilibrium analysis. This textbook provides a systematic survey of the most recent developments in input-output analysis and their applications, helping us to examine questions such as: which industries are competitive? What are the multiplier effects of an investment program? How do environmental restrictions impact on prices? Linear programming and national accounting are introduced and used to resolve issues such as the choice of technique, the comparative advantage of a national economy, its efficiency and dynamic performance. Technological and environmental spillovers are analysed, both at the national level (between industries) and the international level (the measurement of globalisation effects). The book is self-contained, but assumes some familiarity with calculus, matrix algebra, and the microeconomic principle of optimizing behaviour. Exercises and review questions are included at the end of each chapter, and solutions at the end of the book.

Book Economic Effects of Natural Disasters

Download or read book Economic Effects of Natural Disasters written by Taha Chaiechi and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2020-10-16 with total page 665 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Economic Effects of Natural Disasters explores how natural disasters affect sources of economic growth and development. Using theoretical econometrics and real-world data, and drawing on advances in climate change economics, the book shows scholars and researchers how to use various research methods and techniques to investigate and respond to natural disasters. No other book presents empirical frameworks for the evaluation of the quality of macroeconomic research practice with a focus on climate change and natural disasters. Because many of these subjects are so large, different regions of the world use different approaches, hence this resource presents tailored economic applications and evidence. Connects economic theories and empirical work in climate change to natural disaster research Shows how advances in climate change and natural disaster research can be implemented in micro- and macroeconomic simulation models Addresses structural changes in countries afflicted by climate change and natural disasters

Book Advances in Input Output Analysis

Download or read book Advances in Input Output Analysis written by William Peterson and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 1991-11-14 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Input-output analysis, developed by Nobel Prize winner Wassily Leontief, continues to be a vital area of research.
