In practice, there may be more than one way to synthesize an inorganic compound. However, there is no strict criterion for determining the suitability of a synthesis procedure. The only way to determine that a synthesis is suitable is to estimate whether a new or modified experimental procedure is applicable to a variety of related compounds, and ensuring that at least one of those compounds is critically important for industrial use or for research. Research in this field aims at developing innovative synthesis procedures for compounds that are not readily available on a commercial basis at reasonable prices. This book will provide a detailed account of the techniques that are used in inorganic chemistry for synthesizing inorganic compounds.
