Download or read book Reflexiones sobre la formaci n investigadora en Europa written by Alberto Ruiz Jimeno and published by Ed. Universidad de Cantabria. This book was released on 2021-11-09 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. In the context of the European Higher Education Area, the training of new researchers is essential to achieve the European Research Area, in which international and intersectorial mobility play an important role, as well as multidisciplinarity. This implies new challenges in research training and its preparation for the world inside or outside academia. The professionalisation of supervision is a pending task in this context. In this small book I reflect on how Europe has been preparing to address this issue in a globalised world and in line with the Transferable Development Goals. I also analyse the Spanish situation in the European context and how, through the Doctoral Schools, methods and proposals for improvement are being established to achieve the objectives of quality, responsible and sustainable doctoral training.

Download or read book La participaci n de los estudiantes en la universidad written by José Luis Parejo Llanos and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Las misiones de las universidades europeas y estadounidenses written by Joan Pedro Carañana and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book University and School Collaborations During a Pandemic

Download or read book University and School Collaborations During a Pandemic written by Fernando M. Reimers and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on twenty case studies of universities worldwide, and on a survey administered to leaders in 101 universities, this open access book shows that, amidst the significant challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, universities found ways to engage with schools to support them in sustaining educational opportunity. In doing so, they generated considerable innovation, which reinforced the integration of the research and outreach functions of the university. The evidence suggests that universities are indeed open systems, in interaction with their environment, able to discover changes that can influence them and to change in response to those changes. They are also able, in the success of their efforts to mitigate the educational impact of the pandemic, to create better futures, as the result of the innovations they can generate. This challenges the view of universities as "ivory towers" being isolated from the surrounding environment and detached from local problems. As they reached out to schools, universities not only generated clear and valuable innovations to sustain educational opportunity and to improve it, this process also contributed to transform internal university processes in ways that enhanced their own ability to deliver on the third mission of outreach

Download or read book Leaving College written by Vincent Tinto and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2012-04-27 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this 1994 classic work on student retention, Vincent Tinto synthesizes far-ranging research on student attrition and on actions institutions can and should take to reduce it. The key to effective retention, Tinto demonstrates, is in a strong commitment to quality education and the building of a strong sense of inclusive educational and social community on campus. He applies his theory of student departure to the experiences of minority, adult, and graduate students, and to the situation facing commuting institutions and two-year colleges. Especially critical to Tinto’s model is the central importance of the classroom experience and the role of multiple college communities.

Book Universities and the Global Knowledge Economy

Download or read book Universities and the Global Knowledge Economy written by Henry Etzkowitz and published by Burns & Oates. This book was released on 2006-02 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: University and industry, up to now relatively separate and distinct institutional spheres, are assuming tasks that were formerly largely the province of the other in the development of new technologies. A new social contract is being drawn up between the university and the larger society, in which public funding for the university is made contingent upon a more direct contribution to the economy. Has economic development become a function of the university in addition to teaching and research? As the university crosses traditional boundaries through linkages to industry, it must devise ways to make its multiple purposes compatible with each other. The impetuses include: the industrial activities of individual academics in forming firms, which take on a collective force as they become Increasingly common; the organisational inititiatives of academic administrators in establishing procedures and administrative offices for university-industry relations...

This fits with counselling process, where the intention is to increase the client's power and autonomy. This book gives practical examples of ways in which this method has been carried out and considers some of the dilemmas facing both students and trainers. Self-directed Learning in Counsellor Training provides a developmental model of self-directed learning together with exercises and methods of facilitating. It looks at ways of managing entry into this form of learning and demonstrates methods of designing courses which reinforce the principles. There is a discussion of the underlying philosophy, the possible outcomes and examples of ways to self and peer assess.

Book Engaging People in Sustainability

Download or read book Engaging People in Sustainability written by Daniella Tilbury and published by IUCN. This book was released on 2004 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is based on the exchange of professional experiences which featured in an IUCN CEC workshop in August 2002. Practitioners from around the world shared their models of good practice and explored the challenges involved in engaging people in sustainability. The difficulties facing practitioners vary between country and context but some challenges are universal: A lack of clarity in communicating what is meant by sustainable development; An ambition to educate everyone to bring about a global citizenship; Social, organisational or institutional factors constrain change to sustainable development, yet there is an emphasis on formal education, and community educators do not receive the same support; A lack of balance in addressing the integration of environmental, social and economic dimensions leading to an interpretation that ESD is mainly about environment and conservation issues; New learning (rather than teaching) approaches are called for to promote more debate in society. Yet, few are trained or experienced in these new approaches. Practitioners need support to explore new ways of promoting learning. [Foreword, ed].
