The descriptive survey design was employed for the study and random sampling technique was used to select 120 teachers in ten different secondary schools in Ilorin metropolis. The instrument used was a self-designed questionnaire with test re-test reliability coefficient of 0.89. Data collected were analyzed using percentage, t-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) statistics. The findings of the study revealed that continuous assessment helps students to remember what has been learned, to concentrate effort on difficult areas of subject and helps identify their areas of strengths and weaknesses. It was also found that there was no significant difference in the teacher’s view of influence continuous assessment to students’ academic achievement based on gender and educational qualification.

Over the years, the practice of continuous assessment has been the pre-evaluation process of the academic success of students before their final examination period. Nowadays, however, it appears that teachers are not using continuous assessment to prepare students for examinations. In view of this, the study investigates the impact of continuous assessment regarding the academic performance of students. The descriptive survey design was employed for the study and a random sampling technique was used to select 120 teachers in ten different secondary schools in Ilorin Metropolis. The instrument used was a self-designed questionnaire entitled "Impact of CA Academic Performance Questionnaire (ICAAPQ)". The study reveals that continuous assessment helps students to remember what has been learnt, to concentrate on difficult areas of a subject, and help to identify their areas of strengths and weaknesses. The author recommends that teachers should work with school counsellors to critically examine students performances in continuous assessment in order to understand their areas of weaknesses.

The aim of the first paper in this book is to describe the relationship between the goals of adolescents, their everyday life and the influence these factors have on academic achievement. Chapter two focuses on a longitudinal investigation of students' well-being experiences within the framework of motivational beliefs. Chapter three aims to analyze differences in academic self-attributions and learning strategies between aggressive and nonaggressive Spanish adolescents, and to identify the predictive role of self-attributions and learning strategies in academic promotion of aggressive Spanish adolescents. Chapter four analyzes a simulation software and sensitivity analysis for future student academic performance. Chapter five establishes how personal self-regulation and different contexts of stress produce differences in the coping strategies used by students, whether university students or graduates who are preparing for competitive exams. Chapter six provides a model with the main variables that can predict, with a certain degree of accuracy, school achievement and success, in order to put forward interventions and counseling to prevent students from dropping-out of health professions degree courses. Chapter seven critically reviews the different assessments and processes used within medical training and considers the affective implications for students, educators and eventually patients. At a time when traditional testing is subject to increasing criticism, research suggests that new, exciting approaches to assessment may be on the horizon.
