And if this work shall achieve anything towards arresting this great evil, the author will feel that he is amply compensated for the years of toil and mental labor spent in its preparation. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The World's Sixteen Crucified Saviors; Or, Christianity Before Christ" is a book written by Kersey Graves. It presents a comparative analysis of various religious and mythological figures from different cultures who share similarities with the story of Jesus Christ. Graves argues that these figures, including Horus, Mithras, Krishna, and others, predate Christianity and share common elements such as virgin births, crucifixion, and resurrection. The book challenges the uniqueness and exclusivity of Christianity by suggesting that the narrative of Jesus' life and death is not entirely original but draws upon earlier mythologies and legends. Graves explores the possibility of a universal human need for a savior figure and suggests that the story of Jesus Christ is a continuation of a long-standing mythological tradition. "The World's Sixteen Crucified Saviors" generated controversy and sparked debates upon its publication. While some scholars and critics question the accuracy and reliability of the comparative analysis presented by Graves, the book remains significant for its exploration of the historical and cultural context of religious stories and the influence of earlier traditions on Christianity.

Book excerpt: ""The World's Sixteen Crucified Saviors"" is a controversial and thought-provoking book written by Kersey Graves. Originally published in 1875, the book challenges traditional religious beliefs by presenting a comparative analysis of various mythological figures from different cultures who share similarities with the story of Jesus Christ. Graves argues that the narratives of these figures, including Osiris, Mithras, and Krishna, predate Christianity and feature similar motifs such as virgin births, miraculous deeds, and crucifixions. The book examines historical and mythological sources to highlight these parallels, suggesting that the story of Jesus may have been influenced by earlier mythologies. ""The World's Sixteen Crucified Saviors"" sparked debates about the origins of religious beliefs and the historical accuracy of biblical accounts. While some scholars criticize Graves's methodology and conclusions, others view the book as a pioneering work in the study of comparative religion and mythology.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is one of the most controversial books about the Christian narrative of Jesus ever published. Graves tried to gather together all of what was known at the time about other similar stories of gods who walked the earth, preached ethical and mystical doctrines, and ended up as Deicides. Today, folklorists have discovered a set of world-wide themes relating a story of a culture-hero who has a miraculous birth and tragic death. This is one of the archetypal stories which Jung and Campbell discussed. This does not lessen the impact, however, on traditional believers in these narratives as the absolute truth. So is the need for a deathless hero who saves humanity part of the deep structure of our brain? Is religion simply filling a psychological need which is part of being human? The World's Sixteen Crucified Saviors raised a host of questions, few of which have yet been adequately answered, over a century later.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE DEATH OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST is a subject of never- failing interest to all who study prayerfully the scripture of truth. This is so, not only because the believer's all both for time and eternity depends upon it, but also, because of its transcendent uniqueness. Four words appear to sum up the salient features of this mystery of mysteries: the death of Christ was natural, unnatural, preternatural, and supernatural. The death of Christ was natural. By this we mean that it was a real death. It is because we are so familiar with the fact of it that the above statement appears simple and commonplace, yet, what we here touch upon is to the spiritual mind one of the main elements of wonderment. The one who was "taken, and by wicked hands" crucified and slain was none other than Jehovah's "Fellow". The blood that was shed on the accursed tree was divine - "The church of God which he purchased with his own blood"
