Book Temperate Agroforestry Systems

Download or read book Temperate Agroforestry Systems written by Andrew M Gordon and published by CABI. This book was released on 2018-03-07 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organic animal production has increased rapidly in recent years to keep up with the increasing consumer demand for organic meats. There are many guidelines and restrictions on what should go into the feedstuffs of organically farmed animals, from which difficulties arise when trying to ensure a well-balanced, nutritious diet without the use of any supplements. The book has been completely updated and revised to address how to formulate organic diets in situations where there is a declining supply of organic feed, as well as the feasibility of utilizing novel feedstuffs and their acceptability by consumers of organic meat products. Including the experiences of producers in relation to appropriate breeds and production systems for forage-based organic production, this book is an important read for researchers and students of organic food animal production, veterinary sciences and food; as well as food industry personnel and organic farmers.

Download or read book Phenolic Compounds written by Teresa Garde-Cerdán and published by Nova Science Publishers. This book was released on 2017 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Phenolic compounds are a large family of metabolites that result from the secondary metabolism of plants. Novel insights about phenolic chemical structure, analytical methods, therapeutic effects, sensory properties, viticultural practices to modify their content and the use of these compounds found in agro-industrial wastes have been gathered in this book. A comprehensive overview on phenolic compounds and neurodegenerative disorders, highlighting their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory properties and their effects on Parkinsons disease have been compiled. In relation to antioxidant properties, the metabolism and bioavailability of several hydroxycinnamic acids present in coffee have been studied in detail, and also the methods to determine antioxidant capacity have been included. Different strategies in order to improve the extraction and determination of phenolic compounds in a complex matrix by analytical techniques are provided, reporting problems and new analytical solutions. The role of these compounds in colour stabilisation and also in bitterness and astringency perception has been reported. Moreover, the interactions that take place among no volatile and volatile compounds present in wine affecting sensory perception have been briefly introduced. Furthermore, the use of cover crops in vineyards and their effects on agronomical and enological behaviour -- particularly, their impact on phenolic compounds -- have been highlighted. Finally, the biological properties of phenolic compounds from industrial wastes have been tackled, since they are a promising alternative to transform agro-industrial wastes into a source of natural and healthy compounds.

Book Les pesticides dans le sol

Download or read book Les pesticides dans le sol written by Raoul Calvet and published by France Agricole Editions. This book was released on 2005 with total page 644 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Pesticide Contamination in Freshwater and Soil Environs

Download or read book Pesticide Contamination in Freshwater and Soil Environs written by Mohammad Aneesul Mehmood and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-07-28 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Taking into consideration that the agricultural industry is greatly dependent on pesticide chemicals to deal with the damage caused due to pests, this new volume details the challenges along with the bioremediation and remediation measures, such as the use of beneficial microorganisms, polymeric nanocomposites for nanoremediation, phytoremediation, and more. It looks at pesticide contamination from agricultural activities in a variety of different environs and a selection of sustainable and eco-friendly remediation approaches. It provides a spectrum of concepts, ideas, and knowledge related to the detrimental actions of pesticides on the environment directly and on human beings indirectly and provides insight into sustainable and advanced pesticide remediation technology. It fills a gap in the available literature in this field and will provide valuable for academicians, researchers, agriculturists, and students.

Book Estimation des risques environnementaux des pesticides

Download or read book Estimation des risques environnementaux des pesticides written by Enrique Barriuso and published by Editions Quae. This book was released on 2004 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
