Book The Transbeingness of Man

Download or read book The Transbeingness of Man written by Thomas Martin Newald and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2016-08-26 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is my contribution of intuitive epistemology. This book discusses many new understandings of ultimate reality but, primarily, new understandings of the nature of God, the nature of man, and the nature and origin of our present universe. God is described as not personal, not all-powerful, not all-knowing, and not all-present. Individualized man is described as the unknowing expression of God. The universe is described as composed, in part, of the formless realm, the physical realm, the purgatorial realm, the spiritual realm, and the infinite void. The transbeingness of man is described as formless man, physical man, purgatorial man, and spiritual man. Individualized man, a nonspecific term for individualizations of infinite man, is described as alternately existing in two realities. The first reality is core reality. In core reality, individualized man is in total self-conscious unity and harmony with God. Thus, in core reality, individualized man exists in a mental self-realizing state of total harmony and bliss. The second reality is objective reality. In objective reality, individualized man experiences his infinite existence. This experiencing of existence is described as the purpose for individualized mans existence. Also, a fundamental understanding of this book is understanding the difference between real experiences and nonreal experiences. All functions within ultimate reality comprise real experiences. All experiences self-consciously created by individualized man are nonreal experiences. It is through the creative experiencing of objective existence that individualized man understands himself, God, and the purpose for his infinite existence. Finally, this book describes heaven and hell. Individualized man self-punishes himself for all his wrongdoings; God punishes no one. Hell is reserved for the individualizations of man that self-consciously reject God, but real physical hell is not a place of punishment.

Book Regular and Chaotic Motions in Dynamic Systems

Download or read book Regular and Chaotic Motions in Dynamic Systems written by A. S. Wightman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fifth International School ~ Mathematical Physics was held at the Ettore Majorana Centro della Culture Scientifica, Erice, Sicily, 2 to 14 July 1983. The present volume collects lecture notes on the session which was devoted to'Regular and Chaotic Motions in Dynamlcal Systems. The School was a NATO Advanced Study Institute sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Public Education, the Italian Ministry of Scientific and Technological Research and the Regional Sicilian Government. Many of the fundamental problems of this subject go back to Poincare and have been recognized in recent years as being of basic importance in a variety of physical contexts: stability of orbits in accelerators, and in plasma and galactic dynamics, occurrence of chaotic motions in the excitations of solids, etc. This period of intense interest on the part of physicists followed nearly a half a century of neglect in which research in the subject was almost entirely carried out by mathematicians. It is an in dication of the difficulty of some of the problems involved that even after a century we do not have anything like a satisfactory solution.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern science has abstracted, as compensation for establishing rigorousness, the complexity of the real world, and has inclined toward oversimpli?ed ?ctitious n- ratives; as a result, a disjunction has emerged between the wisdom of science and reality. Re?ecting on this, we see the need for science to recover reality; can it reveal new avenues for thought and investigation of the complexity? The study of science is the pursuit of clarity and distinctness. Physics, after Galilei placed it in the realm of mathematics, has been trying to establish clearness by mathematical logic. While physics and mathematics, respectively, have different intellectual incentives, they have intersected in history on countless occasions and have woven a ?awless system of wisdom. The core of rigorous science is always made of mathematical logic; the laws of science cannot be represented without the language of mathematics. Conversely, it is undoubtedly dif?cult to stimulate ma- ematical intellect without a reference to the interests of science that are directed to the real world. However, various criticisms have been raised against the discourses of sciences that explain the events of the real world as if they are “governed” by mathematical laws. Sciences, being combined with technologies, have permeated, in the form of technical rationalism, the domain of life, politics, and even the psychological world. The criticisms accuse seemingly logical scienti?c narratives of being responsible for widespread destruction and emergence of crises, unprecedented suffering of hum- ity.

Book The Jewel Tree of Tibet

  • Author : Robert Thurman
  • Publisher : Simon and Schuster
  • Release : 2005-02-10

Download or read book The Jewel Tree of Tibet written by Robert Thurman and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2005-02-10 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Few teachers in the West possess both the spiritual training and the scholarship to lead us along the path to enlightenment. Robert Thurman is one such teacher. Now, in his first experiential course on the essentials of Tibetan Buddhism, adapted and expanded from a popular retreat he led, Thurman -- the first Westerner ordained by His Holiness the Dalai Lama himself -- shares the centuries-old wisdom of a highly valued method used by the great Tibetan masters. Using a revered, once-secret text of a seventeenth-century Tibetan master, along with a thorough explanation for contemporary Westerners, The Jewel Tree of Tibet immerses you fully in the mysteries of Tibetan spiritual wisdom. A retreat in book form as well as a spiritual and philosophical teaching, it offers a practical system of understanding yourself and the world, of developing your learning and thought processes, and of gaining deep, transforming insight. Tibetans think of their cherished tradition of Buddhism as a "wish-fulfilling jewel tree" for its power to generate bliss and enlightenment within all who absorb its teachings. Happiness, in fact, is the true goal of Tibetan spirituality, and the wish-fulfilling jewel tree will put you on the road to that reachable goal. This beautiful jewel-tree imagery, which acts like a mandala or a yoga pose to focus your attention on truths larger than yourself, will help you break through worn-out ideas and habits, strengthen positive abilities, develop more energy and creativity, and change your life -- and future -- for the better. As Thurman writes, "Readers learn to cultivate the sensitivity and appreciation to love more fully, feel compassion more intensely, and become a fountain of cheerfulness for all they meet and know." Because the path to enlightenment requires more than sitting in meditation, The Jewel Tree of Tibet offers a rich, intellectually riveting course with many specific spiritual practices, including: eleven steps to create the spirit of enlightenment, here and now; the truths and stories of the ancient Indian and Tibetan sages; and guided meditations to experience the blessings of the wish-fulfilling jewel tree. You can do these practices with others or on your own, while living your daily life. And as you travel this road to deeper self-realization, self-understanding, and infectious happiness, you will also learn how the principles of Tibetan Tantra can open the doors to "infinite compassion and continuity," and how to discover states of consciousness that transcend even death. One of the most explicit teachings of the steps to the path of enlightenment available, explained by a skilled Western teacher, The Jewel Tree of Tibet will enable you to honor the full subtlety and hidden depths of the Tibetan Buddhist path and realize at last its deeper mysteries and rewards -- for yourself and others.

The messages that are displayed out in number provide all of the evidence required to permit both purpose and hope to be achieved.

Book Of Levinas and Shakespeare

Download or read book Of Levinas and Shakespeare written by Moshe Gold and published by Purdue University Press. This book was released on 2018-03-15 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scholars have used Levinas as a lens through which to view many authors and texts, fields of endeavor, and works of art. Yet no book-length work or dedicated volume has brought this thoughtful lens to bear in a sustained discussion of the works of Shakespeare. It should not surprise anyone that Levinas identified his own thinking as Shakespearean. "The play's the thing" for both, or put differently, the observation of intersubjectivity is. What may surprise and indeed delight all learned readers is to consider what we might yet gain from considering each in light of the other. Comprising leading scholars in philosophy and literature, Of Levinas and Shakespeare: "To See Another Thus" is the first book-length work to treat both great thinkers. Lear, Hamlet, and Macbeth dominate the discussion; however, essays also address Cymbeline, The Merchant of Venice, and even poetry, such as Venus and Adonis. Volume editors planned and contributors deliver a thorough treatment from multiple perspectives, yet none intends this volume to be the last word on the subject; rather, they would have it be a provocation to further discussion, an enticement for richer enjoyment, and an invitation for deeper contemplation of Levinas and Shakespeare.

Book Lady Gaga and Popular Music

Download or read book Lady Gaga and Popular Music written by Martin Iddon and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-01-03 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a multi-faceted, interdisciplinary examination of the music and figure of Lady Gaga, combining approaches from scholars in cultural studies, art, fashion, and music. It represents one of the first scholarly volumes devoted to Lady Gaga, who has become, over a few short years, central to both popular (and, indeed, populist) as well as more scholarly thought in these areas and who, the contributors argue, is helping to shape—directly and indirectly—thought and culture both in the fields of the "scholarly" and the "everyday." Lady Gaga's output is firmly embedded in a self-consciously intellectual pop culture tradition, and her music videos are intertextually linked to icons of pop culture intelligentsia like Alfred Hitchcock and open to multiple interpretations. In examining her music and figure, this volume contributes both to debates on the status of intertextuality, held in tension with originality, and to debates on the figuring of the sexualized female body, and representations of disability. There is interest in these issues from a wide range of disciplines: popular musicology, film studies, queer studies, women’s studies, gender studies, disability studies, popular culture studies, and the burgeoning sub-discipline of aesthetics and philosophy of fashion.

Book Re treating Religion

    Book Details:
  • Author : Alena Alexandrova
  • Publisher : Fordham Univ Press
  • Release : 2012
  • ISBN : 0823234649
  • Pages : 417 pages

Download or read book Re treating Religion written by Alena Alexandrova and published by Fordham Univ Press. This book was released on 2012 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the most complicated and ambiguous tendencies in contemporary western societies is the phenomenon referred to as the "turn to religion." In philosophy, one of the most original thinkers critically questioning this "turn" is Jean-Luc Nancy. Re-treating Religion is the first volume to analyze his long-term project "The Deconstruction of Christianity," especially his major statement of it in Dis-Enclosure. Nancy conceives monotheistic religion and secularization not as opposite worldviews that succeed each other in time but rather as springing from the same history. This history consists in a paradoxical tendency to contest one's own foundations--whether God, truth, origin, humanity, or rationality--as well as to found itself on the void of this contestation. Nancy calls this unique combination of self-contestation and self-foundation the "self-deconstruction" of the Western world. The book includes discussion with Nancy himself, who contributes a substantial "Preamble" and a concluding dialogue with the volume editors. The contributions follow Nancy in tracing the complexities of Western culture back to the persistent legacy of monotheism, in order to illuminate the tensions and uncertainties we face in the twenty-first century.

Download or read book High Bias written by Marc Masters and published by UNC Press Books. This book was released on 2023-09-14 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The cassette tape was revolutionary. Cheap, portable, and reusable, this small plastic rectangle changed music history. Make your own tapes! Trade them with friends! Tape over the ones you don't like! The cassette tape upended pop culture, creating movements and uniting communities. This entertaining book charts the journey of the cassette from its invention in the early 1960s to its Walkman-led domination in the 1980s to decline at the birth of compact discs to resurgence among independent music makers. Scorned by the record industry for "killing music," the cassette tape rippled through scenes corporations couldn't control. For so many, tapes meant freedom—to create, to invent, to connect. Marc Masters introduces readers to the tape artists who thrive underground; concert tapers who trade bootlegs; mixtape makers who send messages with cassettes; tape hunters who rescue forgotten sounds; and today's labels, which reject streaming and sell music on cassette. Their stories celebrate the cassette tape as dangerous, vital, and radical.
