Download or read book Infiltration Theory for Hydrologic Applications written by Roger Elton Smith and published by American Geophysical Union. This book was released on 2002-01-21 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This reference and guide for those interested in modern infiltration theory presents the theoretical and mathematical basis of physically- based infiltration functions and tells how to apply theory to various hydrologic problems. It is assumed that the reader has an understanding of mathematics including basics of partial differential equations; however, mathematical complexities, especially lengthy derivations, are avoided when not needed. Emphasis is on one- dimensional, vertical infiltration such as for the rainfall-on-soil condition. Robust equations are supplied which can be applied in hydrologic models at a variety of scales for different objectives. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR.
Download or read book Assessing Infiltration and Exfiltration on the Performance of Urban Sewer Systems written by Bryan Ellis and published by IWA Publishing. This book was released on 2010-02-10 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sewer systems constitute a very significant heritage in European cities. Their structural quality and functional efficiency are key parameters to guarantee the transfer of domestic and industrial wastewater to treatment plants without infiltration nor exfiltration. Infiltration of groundwater is particularly detrimental to treatment plant efficiency, while exfiltration of wastewater can lead to groundwater contamination. The European research project APUSS (Assessing infiltration and exfiltration on the Performance of Urban Sewer Systems) was devoted to sewer infiltration and exfiltration questions. It was structured in three main Work Areas dealing respectively with i) the development of new measurement methods based on tracer experiments and accounting for detailed uncertainty analyses, ii) the implementation of models and software tools to integrate structural and experimental data and to facilitate data display, operational management and decision-making processes and iii) the integration of economic and operational questions by means of cost estimation, economic evaluation, performance indicators and multi-criteria methods applied to investment/rehabilitation strategies. This final report describes the objectives, methods and main results for each Work Area. References to detailed methods, protocols, reports and tools are given in this final report which will be an invaluable source of information for all those concerned with the performance of urban sewer systems.
Download or read book Infiltration written by Colin McLaren and published by Melbourne Univ. Publishing. This book was released on 2011-02-01 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For two years police detective Colin McLaren disappears off the face of the earth, surfacing in Griffith as a dodgy art dealer with a pretty girlfriend, and talks his way into the Mafia. For days, weeks, then months and years, Colin eats with them, sits in their homes and cuddles their kids, all the while climbing the N'Drangheta, finally befriending the Griffith Godfather, Antonio Romeo. This is the world of listening devices, wire taps and of trying to stay sane while doing deals to buy pure cocaine and tonnes of cannabis. In the meantime, the Mafiosi know they have a snitch and are leaving no stone unturned in their search for the traitor ... Infiltration tells the story of two of the bloodiest decades in organised crime, when the ethos was to shoot first and ask questions later.

Download or read book Infiltration written by Taylor Marshall and published by Sophia Institute Press. This book was released on 2019-05-21 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It took nearly two millennia for the enemies of the Catholic Church to realize they could not successfully attack the Church from the outside. Indeed, countless nemeses from Nero to Napoleon succeeded only in creating sympathy and martyrs for our Catholic Faith. That all changed in the mid-19th century, when clandestine societies populated by Modernists and Marxists hatched a plan to subvert the Catholic Church from within. Their goal: to change Her doctrine, Her liturgy, and Her mission. In this captivating and carefully documented book, Dr. Taylor Marshall pulls back the curtain on their nefarious plan, showing how these enemies of Christ strategically infiltrated the seminaries, then the priesthood, then the episcopacy, and eventually the cardinal-electors all with the eventual goal of electing one of their own as pope. You'll come to see that the seemingly endless scandals plaguing the Church are not the result, as so many think, of cultural changes, or of Vatican II, but rather the natural consequences of an orchestrated demonic plot to destroy the Church. In these gripping pages, you'll discover: How popes of the 1800s discovered a plot to infiltrate the Church. How theologians suspected of being Modernists became Vatican powerbrokers. How modifications in Catholic canon law enabled predator priests like Theodore McCarrick to stay in positions of power. How Our Lady of La Salette gave a prophetic warning of the plot to infiltrate the Church. How the chief architect of liturgical reforms was discovered to be a Freemason. Archbishop Fulton Sheen's role in exposing the Communist infiltration of the priesthood. How the confusing history of the Third Secret of Fatima relates to the infiltration of the Catholic Church. That Pope Paul VI explained that Vatican II was not infallible. How Pope Paul VI revoked the voting rights of cardinals over 80, thus guaranteeing that all voting cardinals were appointed by him. How the criteria for sainthood shifted from a person's historical acts to his personal beliefs. The complex roots of the St. Gallen Mafia and how they plotted to modify Catholic doctrine and elect Pope Francis.

Book excerpt: To face the threats to the water supply and to maintain sustainable water management policies, detailed knowledge is needed on the surface-to-subsurface transformation link in the water cycle. Recharge flux is covered in this book as well as many other groundwater issues, including a comparison of the traditional and modern approaches to determine groundwater recharge. The authors also explain in detail the fate of groundwater recharge in the subsurface by hydraulic and geologic means, in order to stimulate adapted groundwater-management strategies.
