Book Scandinavian Information Systems Research

Download or read book Scandinavian Information Systems Research written by Karlheinz Kautz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-08-14 with total page 165 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The First Scandinavian Conference on Information Systems (SCIS 2010) took place during August 20–22, 2010 in Rebild, Denmark. The conference was held in conjunction with the traditional IRIS seminar for information systems research in Scandinavia. The IRIS seminar has a long-standing recognition for furthering information systems research. The objective of SCIS 2010 was to extend and formalize a part of the seminar to a full conference. The purpose of the conference was to exchange and publish high-quality research with a particular view on the Scandinavian research community. The theme of the conference was “Engaged Scandinavian Information Systems Research.” Scandinavian information systems research has for several decades been concerned with its relevance for practitioners of the field, for users, for industry, and for society at large. This concern for the usefulness outside the realms of research has shaped the Scandinavian researchers’ awareness, attention, research conduct, and most importantly a focus on who we interact with on which issues, why we do this, and for whom we do it.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book documents the research I conducted on the subject of Electronic Data Inter change during my time at the Institute of Business Informatics, University of Berne, Switzerland. In this effort I enjoyed a great deal of help from numerous others, in cluding professional colleagues, interview partners, and members of my family. Even though I cannot possibly mention them all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for their selfless support. Above all, I am grateful to Prof. Dr. Gerhard Knolmayer who contributed to the book both in its formative stages and throughout its development. He has been an unwavering source of encouragement during the many difficult stages of the investigation and I greatly benefitted from our discussions of the subject matter. Moreover, he was ex tremely generous with his time in carefully reviewing all the five chapters. The fmancial support for this book came from the Hasler Foundation in Berne. I wish to thank the Foundation, and especially its Managing Director, Dr. P.A. Jaeger, for funding the empirical part of the research project. Likewise, I am grateful to the Uni versity of Berne for providing me with the necessary computer and other resources. The Institute of Business Informatics should be commended particularly for its very stim ulating work environment.

Book Electronic Government and the Information Systems Perspective

Download or read book Electronic Government and the Information Systems Perspective written by Kim Normann Andersen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-08-18 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In front of you are the proceedings of the First International Conference on Electronic Government and Information Systems Perspective, EGOVIS. This conference builts on the tradition of its predecessors, the Electronic Government Conferences (EGOV) under the DEXA umbrella, which have been ongoing for nine years, but it also - cluded some innovations. In view of the large number of electronic government c- ferences, we found it important to focus the scope of the conference a little and to increase the quality requirements. Hence this year’s conference featured a tougher review process and a smaller set of accepted papers. As a result, these proceedings contain the very best papers of 2010 covering various important aspects of electronic government and information systems used in the public sector. With an acceptance rate of less than 20% EGOVIS belongs to the top ten conferences in the world. The Program Committee accepted 13 full papers and 11 short papers, covering the most recent research trends in electronic government implementations, such as ICT for eGovernment services and monitoring, knowledge and content management systems for temporal and geo-spatial applications, interoperability for electronic government integrated architectures, decision and support tools for eDemocracy and direct parti- pation of citizens in the policy-making strategies, and Web 2. 0 and 3. 0 approaches for collaborative and transparent public sector services.

Book Information Technology and the Challenge for Hong Kong

Download or read book Information Technology and the Challenge for Hong Kong written by Janice M. Burn and published by Hong Kong University Press. This book was released on 1997-09-01 with total page 395 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The twenty-first century is frequently cited as the Asia-Pacific Century due to the phenomenal success of Asian countries over the last three decades. Nowhere has this been more visible than in Hong Kong which became the first Newly Industrialized Economy to enter the world's top ten trading communities in 1991. This book describes the current state of information technology (IT) exploitation in Hong Kong and the role of IT in the rapid advancement of the Asia-Pacific region. It raises issues - such as the impact of politics, culture and societal growth on IT effectiveness - but does not try to provide all the answers, and is therefore of interest to both business and IT managers in global organizations or companies operating in cross-cultural settings. It is also invaluable for students of business, management and IT who will play a strategic role in the future development of the new global economy.
