Book Applying Ada Programming Support Environment APSE Concepts for Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems CIMS Solutions

Download or read book Applying Ada Programming Support Environment APSE Concepts for Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems CIMS Solutions written by Kathleen M. Austin and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis compares the concepts of Ada Programming Support Environments (APSE) and Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems (CIMS) to see if they are similar enough to apply APSE concepts for solving CIMS problems. After establishing a discussion baseline for each of the concepts, the objectives, design guidelines and pictorial representations of an APSE and a CIMS are first compared. Then the two concepts are compared at the database, interfaces and toolset level. The major differences between an APSE and a CIMS are also identified. Finally, after establishing that similarities do exist between APSE and CIMS concepts, recommendations are made for applying APSE concepts for CIMS solutions that will contribute to achieving Air Force as well as U.S. manufacturing goals. Book Key Characteristics of Ada Trademark Programming Support Environments

Download or read book Key Characteristics of Ada Trademark Programming Support Environments written by E. C. Grund and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 49 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Department of Defense has developed and standardized a new programming language, Ada. Many Air Force Systems Command programs will be required to use Ada for software development; as a result, there is a need to understand the characteristics of the programming environments useful in supporting Ada software development. This paper describes key characteristics of Ada Programming Support Environments (APSEs). It draws together information from any sources to provide the foundation knowledge needed to begin the specification or selection of an APSE. A programming support environment is a set of tools and techniques used to develop or maintain software. The programming environment that a software organization employs affects its productivity and the quality of its software products. In addition to developing Ada, the DoD has evolved requirements for an APSE through various levels of refinement, culminating in the Stoneman document. Stoneman addresses the high level functions of an environment needed to realize the potential of the Ada technology. It envisions an environment that is portable and extensible, supporting activities throughout the software life cycle. It also identifies a minimal set of tools for the design, coding, and configuration management of source programs.

Book A Quantitative Analysis of a Software Development in Ada

Download or read book A Quantitative Analysis of a Software Development in Ada written by Victor R. Basili and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page 47 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Department of Defense has spent a considerable amount of money and resources on the development of the new programming language Ada. To develop a better understanding of the nature of this language, it is necessary to pull it out of the research arena and use it in an industrial environment where one must deal with issues such as training, budgets and support facilities. To gain insight into the use of this new language, the University of Maryland and General Electric have jointly undertaken a study of the development of a software project written in Ada. A set of goals and questions was established at the beginning of the project. These include generic goals for any software development project, goals relating to Ada as a design and implementation language, and goals relating to metrics for the Ada Programming Support Environment (APSE). Data collected from the project were analyzed. This paper describes the observations which provide answers to a subset of the goals and questions. While some of the answers are relevant only to our particular environment, others apply to any group wishing to use Ada for the first time, and still others apply to any Ada environment. More specifically, this paper addresses those goals that are related to effort, changes, errors and programmer characteristics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The collection of papers published in this book was initially presented at the Workshop on Software Factories and Ada, held on Capri, May 26-30, 1986. The subject of the book is software development environments. Software development is treated from three viewpoints: methodologies, language issues and mechanisms. Of particular interest are the discussions of automation of the development process and the formalization of software development specifications. Several new methodologies are described, many of which are available on the commercial market. New is in particular the formalization of the design and development process. Interesting ideas are presented on planning the design process and on supporting project management by formal tools. The reader will find a variety of interesting methodologies and mechanisms that are operational. The book is suitable for readers interested in knowing in which direction programming environment research is moving.

Book Ada for Multi Microprocessors

Download or read book Ada for Multi Microprocessors written by M. Tedd and published by CUP Archive. This book was released on 1984 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multi-processor systems are becoming more prevalent due to the many advantages which they offer over single-processor systems. A multi-microprocessor system can smoothly accommodate expansion and increasing levels of integration of separate controllers, facilitating modernization of industrial plants without large capital outlay. This book deals with the ways in which Ada can be used for such distributed systems. The main part of the book is devoted to the issue of how to construct and run an Ada program for a variable target configuration of several microcomputers, interconnected through shared memories, multi-access busses, local area networks or end-to-end lines. It is recognized that Ada and current Ada Programming Support Environments (APSEs) do not address distributed targets, and different approaches are therefore considered for coping with distribution without changing the language or unduly restricting the way in which it is used. The approach which emerges as the most natural is one where the designer is required to cluster tightly coupled Ada tasks into 'virtual nodes'. The implications of this approach for the user and the APSE are examined in detail, and further implications concerning use of the multi-microprocessor approach to achieve reliability and extensibility are also studied.

Book 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design

Download or read book 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design written by Department Justice and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2014-10-09 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: (a) Design and construction. (1) Each facility or part of a facility constructed by, on behalf of, or for the use of a public entity shall be designed and constructed in such manner that the facility or part of the facility is readily accessible to and usable by individuals with disabilities, if the construction was commenced after January 26, 1992. (2) Exception for structural impracticability. (i) Full compliance with the requirements of this section is not required where a public entity can demonstrate that it is structurally impracticable to meet the requirements. Full compliance will be considered structurally impracticable only in those rare circumstances when the unique characteristics of terrain prevent the incorporation of accessibility features. (ii) If full compliance with this section would be structurally impracticable, compliance with this section is required to the extent that it is not structurally impracticable. In that case, any portion of the facility that can be made accessible shall be made accessible to the extent that it is not structurally impracticable. (iii) If providing accessibility in conformance with this section to individuals with certain disabilities (e.g., those who use wheelchairs) would be structurally impracticable, accessibility shall nonetheless be ensured to persons with other types of disabilities, (e.g., those who use crutches or who have sight, hearing, or mental impairments) in accordance with this section.
