Download or read book Industrial Color Physics written by Georg A. Klein and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique book starts with a short historical overview of the development of the theories of color vision and applications of industrial color physics. The three dominant factors producing color - light source, color sample, and observer - are described in detail. The standardized color spaces are shown and related color values are applied to characteristic color qualities of absorption as well as of effect colorants. The fundamentals of spectrometric and colorimetric measuring techniques together with specific applications are described. Theoretical models for radiative transfer in transparent, translucent, and opaque layers are detailed; the two, three, and multi-flux approximations are presented for the first time in a coherent formalism. These methods constitute the fundamentals not only for the important classical methods, but also modern methods of recipe prediction applicable to all known colorants. The text is supplied with 52 tables, more than 200 partially colored illustrations, an appendix, and a detailed bibliography. This work is recommended particularly for physicists, chemists, and engineers in color industry and related fields of research, development, production, and processing; this work provides the fundamentals over the widespread physical properties and applications of absorption and effect colorants and is suitable for both the beginner and experienced developer. The author, Georg A. Klein, was awarded his Ph. D. in polymer physics from the University of Mainz, Germany. After several years of R&D in the chemical industry, he became a professor for physics, color physics, and technology of polymers at the University of Applied Sciences in Stuttgart. His extensive decades-long experience in color physics and color technology in Germany and abroad is condensed in the present book.

Book A Cultural History of Color in the Age of Industry

Download or read book A Cultural History of Color in the Age of Industry written by Alexandra Loske and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2022-08-31 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Cultural History of Color in the Age of Industry covers the period 1800 to 1920, when the world embraced color like never before. Inventions, such as steam power, lithography, photography, electricity, motor cars, aviation, and cheaper color printing, all contributed to a new exuberance about color. Available pigments and colored products - made possible by new technologies, industrial manufacturing, commercialization, and urbanization – also greatly increased, as did illustrated printed literature for the mass market. Color, both literally and metaphorically, was splashed around, and became an expressive tool for artists, designers, and writers. Color shapes an individual's experience of the world and also how society gives particular spaces, objects, and moments meaning. The 6 volume set of the Cultural History of Color examines how color has been created, traded, used, and interpreted over the last 5000 years. The themes covered in each volume are color philosophy and science; color technology and trade; power and identity; religion and ritual; body and clothing; language and psychology; literature and the performing arts; art; architecture and interiors; and artefacts. Alexandra Loske is Curator at the Royal Pavilion and Museums, Brighton, UK Volume 5 in the Cultural History of Color set. General Editors: Carole P. Biggam and Kirsten Wolf

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ‘Chromatic Note’ are my lecture notes for Color Formulators who attended my Color Technology Courses . ‘ Why Colors do not match?’ is the first question asked by Colorists . For this , one has to understand the “History of Color Revolution’, ‘Cause and Effect of Color’, ‘Color and Appearance, Color Measurement , Metamerism and ‘Instumental Pass/Fail’ Technique’. I have covered these topics in detais. I have covered the topics of Color Instrumentation and Computer Color Matching Systems for Color Industries such as paints, plastics, inks and textiles.I have discussed the Color Matching Software for predicting color recipe formula and color correction strategy required in color production. Process parameters are also discussed and how to obtain a color match in ‘Zero Shot’ is explained by sharing practical experiences. New “Web based color match systems” are discussed for obtaining the “Instant Color Matching”.

Book Color Trends and Selection for Product Design

Download or read book Color Trends and Selection for Product Design written by Doreen Becker and published by William Andrew. This book was released on 2016-05-13 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Color Trends and Selection for Product Design: Every Color Sells a Story speaks to the needs of the manufacturing level where colorants are developed, helping manufacturers to understand where their colors will sell and for what period of time these products will be viable. It covers issues such as stability, color measurement, and new methods of incorporation, which are critical in the development of new colorants. The book helps product designers more effectively reach their target audiences by helping them understand more about how colors are chosen for particular markets and how certain colors will perform in designs, including how to evaluate color under different lighting conditions and in, or on, different materials. Knowing how colors will perform in each material and how they will be seen on a store shelf or show room floor is vital. The book gives an important insight into future trends, including new design methods for creating color prototypes and regulatory requirements. The color designer needs to better understand the world of the color formulator, and the formulator conversely needs to understand the needs of the designer, so this book is written for both. Provides an expert assessment of future trends in color, helping color manufacturers to understand how their customers and brand owners select colors Covers the critical issues of stability, color measurement, and new methods of incorporation, helping engineers evaluate color performance in different designs, materials, and lighting conditions Helps readers stay ahead of the competition with discussions of important regulations and trends in ‘green’ colors and product design
