Book excerpt: “Swear to God, his nose is so high in the air he could drown in a rainstorm.” Chase is a country boy living the dream, though most people would call it a nightmare. He’s the personal assistant to a powerful executive of a global conglomerate, a man so cold you’ll be forgiven for thinking ice water flows through his veins. When he first meets his boss he is smitten by him, but after two years of what can only be called low-paid slavery, he’s had enough. On the verge of quitting, disaster strikes, and Chase finally discovers a way to climb the corporate ladder. Unfortunately for him, that means marrying the boss. Everyone loathes Juan, and he doesn’t give a damn. His only desire is to succeed, and he doesn’t care who he steps on to achieve his goals. When it’s discovered he has violated the terms of his visa, he’s threatened with deportation. Juan will do anything to stay in the United States, and not lose his powerful and lucrative job. Panicked, he tells the board of directors he’s marrying his assistant, Chase, who promptly blackmails Juan into promoting him. Unable to say no, the two embark on a road trip to meet Chase’s eccentric southern family, and end up discovering there’s more between them than they've ever thought possible. Inconveniently Yours is the second book in the Southern Discomfort series. Prepare yourself for sweet tea and sour words, served alongside men discovering their deepest desires. Inconveniently Yours has it all; enemies to lovers, a fake relationship, and two men falling in love for the first time. So relax on your porch swing with a mint julep and a slice of pecan pie, and enjoy the journey to true love. This romantic comedy is the perfect fit for fans of Lauren Blakely, Andrew Gray, and Felice Stevens.

  • Pages : 311 pages

Download or read book An Inconvenient Book written by Glenn Beck and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2007-11-20 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Glenn Beck, the New York Times bestselling author of The Great Reset, tackles some of our country’s biggest problems in this funny, outrageous, and entertaining book. Glenn Beck believes that the reason why some of our biggest problems never seem to get fixed is simple: the solutions just aren’t very convenient. And as the host of a nationally syndicated radio show and a prime-time television show on CNN Headline News, Glenn Beck doesn’t care much about convenience; he cares about common sense. Take the issue of poverty, for example. Over the last forty years, America’s poorest cities all had one simple thing in common, but politicians will never reveal what that is (or explain how easy it would be to change). Global warming is another issue that’s rife with lies and distortion. How many times have we heard that carbon dioxide is responsible for huge natural disasters that have killed millions of people? The truth is, it’s actually the other way around: as CO2 has increased, deaths from extreme weather have decreased. But that would never be shown in an Al Gore slide show. Combining honesty with a biting sense of humor, An Inconvenient Book contains hundreds of these "why have I never heard that before?" types of facts that will leave readers wondering how political correctness, special interests, and outright stupidity have gotten us so far away from the common sense solutions this country was built on.

Book An Inconvenient Sequel Truth to Power

Download or read book An Inconvenient Sequel Truth to Power written by Al Gore and published by Rodale. This book was released on 2017-07-25 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A New York Times bestseller! The follow up to the #1 New York Times bestselling An Inconvenient Truth and companion to Vice President Al Gore’s new documentary, An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power, this new book is a daring call to action. It exposes the reality of how humankind has aided in the destruction of our planet and delivers hope through groundbreaking information on what you can do now. Vice President Gore, one of our environmental heroes and a leading expert in climate change, brings together cutting-edge research from top scientists around the world; approximately 200 photographs and illustrations to visually articulate the subject matter; and personal anecdotes and observations to document the fast pace and wide scope of global warming. He presents, with alarming clarity and conclusiveness (and with humor, too) that the fact of global climate change is not in question and that its consequences for the world we live in will be assuredly disastrous if left unchecked. Follow Vice President Gore around the globe as he tells a story of change in the making. He connects the dots of Zika, flooding, and other natural disasters we've lived through in the last 10+ years—and much more. The book also offers a comprehensive how-to guide on exactly how we can change the course of fate. With concrete, actionable advice on topics ranging from how to run for office to how to talk to your children about climate change, An Inconvenient Sequel will empower you to make a difference—and lets you know how exactly to do it. Where Gore’s first documentary and book took us through the technical aspects of climate change, the second documentary is a gripping, narrative journey that leaves you filled with hope and the urge to take action immediately. This book captures that same essence and is a must-have for everyone who cares deeply about our planet.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Illuminates with cutting truth the layers of longing and grief which underlie a transracial adoption . . . sharply written, intense, and page-turning.” —Randy Susan Meyers, bestselling author of Waisted Rowan Kelly knows she’s lucky. After all, if she hadn’t been adopted, she could have spent her days in a rice paddy, or a windowless warehouse assembling iPhones—they make iPhones in Korea, right? Either way, slowly dying of boredom on Long Island is surely better than the alternative. But as she matures, she realizes that she’ll never know if she has her mother’s eyes, or if she’d be in America at all had her adoptive parents been able to conceive. Rowan sets out to prove that she can be someone’s first choice. After running away from home—and her parents’ rules—and ending up beaten, barefoot, and topless on a Pennsylvania street courtesy of Bad Boy Number One, Rowan attaches herself to Never-Going-to-Commit. When that doesn’t work out, she fully abandons self-respect and begins browsing Craigslist personals. But as Rowan dives deeper into the world of casual encounters with strangers, she discovers what she’s really looking for. With a fresh voice and a quick wit, Lauren J. Sharkey dispels the myths surrounding transracial adoption, the ties that bind, and what it means to belong. A Finalist for Foreword Review’s 2020 INDIES Book of the Year Award in Adult Fiction—Multicultural “Stirring . . . a moving account of Rowan’s difficult reckoning with her identity. This is an adept portrayal of the long shadow of abuse and the difficulty of being an adoptee.” —Publishers Weekly

Then to whom will these ideas be inconvenient? Perhaps: to people who care about ideas, and who know that good ideas call forth an active response on the part of the hearer. So let's hope that the ideas in this book are good, and that the reader is inconvenienced in a useful way.

Book Parents with Inconvenient Truths about Trans

Download or read book Parents with Inconvenient Truths about Trans written by Dina S. and published by Pitchstone Publishing (US&CA). This book was released on 2023-08-14 with total page 443 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A medical scandal is currently unfolding across Western liberal societies. As Parents with Inconvenient Truths about Trans reveals, the primary victims are vulnerable, socially awkward kids with normally developing bodies who fall for the Internet-fueled promise that they can solve their emotional, psychological, or physical discomfort by adopting an opposite-sex identity. With deep reservations about the new gender orthodoxy that informs this promise and the irreversible one-size-fits-all medical prescription that comes with it, the parent contributors to this anthology share deeply personal stories about transition and desistance that won't be told at the gender clinic. They also offer practical advice based on hard-earned experience that won't be found in mainstream media. Whether progressive or conservative, gay or straight, secular or religious, they all share the aim of protecting children from the physical and emotional harms of the gender industry and seek to empower and encourage other parents and individuals to combat gender ideology at home, in schools, in clinics, and beyond.

Download or read book This Is I T Inconvenient Truth written by and published by A.M. Styles Enterprises. This book was released on with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In life people find it hard to believe some things they may not understand and/or isn’t the “norm.” The sad fact is this is an inconvenient truth which may be preventing them in accepting other thoughts or ideas in which they are not accustomed. Can you see or define someone else’s pain if you have not experienced it or know there is a disease that centers on pain caused by nerve damage? I am sitting here trying to figure out how to talk about Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, also known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (CRPS/RSD) - a rare, chronic (long-term) and progressive condition characterized by severe pain, inflammation and changes in the skin. People who suffer from this disease commonly describe the pain as a burning sensation, which affects one of the arms, legs, hands or feet. Medical professionals are not sure what the cause of CRPS is, but some know that injury or surgery may have occurred before the onset of symptoms. However, in many cases no previous injury took place and there is no evidence of neurological or physical damage to the affected area. You can do a web search to find out more about the disease and its treatments.

Book The Inconvenient Child

Download or read book The Inconvenient Child written by dee mcquesten and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2020-07-05 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “dee mcquesten brings to life the phrase ‘It takes a village…’ From dee’s early childhood on, the villagers in her life instilled in her the capacity for resilience. The concept of resiliency, attributed to early 20th Century thinker Walter Lippmann, is the capacity for personal growth, for recalibration, and for principled improvisation in the face of new circumstances. dee’s story is this definition expressed in her own life of obstacles overcome, and in a life dedicated to making our village a better place, from the Elwha River Dam Project, to our historic market; but most importantly for the children abused, traumatized and abandoned by the rest of our society.” ~ Christopher Staeheli, M.D., Child Psychiatrist “I’ve always known that dee was a tremendously strong person with unrelenting empathy for children enduring trauma and toxic stress. Now I understand where that came from. She is a model of how to turn childhood trauma into lasting resilience. dee’s experience will bring hope to others and inspire them to give back to their communities. Read this book to be inspired by an amazing woman.” ~ Kaaren Andrews: Washington Director, Center for High School Success; Principal for 9 years of the Academy for traumatized and marginalized teens in Seattle’s Columbia City. “dee’s life exemplifies the saying “ Do not hide one’s light under a bushel.” She was born with a light that years of abuse could not diminish. dee’s story, with her vivid memory of details, including her ‘Norman Rockwell style’ formative years, years of abuse mentally and physically and final happiness, gives us courage to use our talents and become the persons we were meant to be. Her intelligence and creativity, boosted by her sense of spiritual need, have helped her to find many ways to care for others. For the past 38 years, dee has worked and struggled to provide for her son and done so with humility and humor. The amount of personal and communal good work she has done at the same time is truly astounding. We cheer for her when she finds happiness with a man who is equally kind and generous. ~ Pam Schell, Co-founder of two successful theater companies, Seattle’s Intiman Theatre and Whidbey Island’s WICA (Whidbey Island Center for the Arts); formerly Seattle’s “First Lady”, as wife of Seattle Mayor Paul Schell)
