Such a fun and addictive read!" A captivating tale of rebellion and romance that spans parallel worlds. Everything repeats. You. Your best friend. Every person you know. Many worlds, many lives—infinite possibilities. Welcome to the multiverse. Sixteen-year-old Sasha Lawson has only ever known one small, ordinary life. When she was young, she loved her grandfather's stories of parallel worlds, inhabited by girls who looked like her but led totally different lives. Sasha never believed such worlds were real—until now, when she finds herself thrust into one against her will. To prevent imminent war, Sasha must slip into the life of an alternate version of herself, a princess who has vanished on the eve of her arranged marriage. If Sasha succeeds in fooling everyone, she will be returned home; if she fails, she'll be trapped in another girl's life forever. As time runs out, Sasha finds herself torn between two worlds, two lives, and two young men vying for her love—one who knows her secret, and one who believes she's someone she's not. "Clever and exhilarating—each page is a pleasure."—Ally Condie, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Matched

After a failed engagement and her mother’s battle with cancer, Charlotte Carter’s life is finally turning around now that she’s landed a dream job teaching music. He never imagined he’d run into Charlotte Carter, his brother’s ex-fiancé, or that everyone would believe he and Charlotte are an item. He certainly didn’t dream he’d end up riding a tandem bicycle hundreds of miles with her in an attempt to raise funds for a defunct music program, but how can he say no when the prize money would help him out of his financial predicament too? Charlotte is sure she can set aside her differences with Zach long enough to cross the finish line and win the giant cash prize . . . can’t she? A few hundred miles in, she’s questioning her deeply held assumptions about Zach and wondering if maybe tandem biking is only the start of their biggest adventure yet. The analysis includes solutions of both the direct and the inverse problems. These problems are solved by conformally mapping the tandem cascade onto the region between two concentric circles in which region there are suitably placed flow singularities. Book excerpt: "In October 2017, four internationally influential practitioners of immersive experiences gathered at the Snug Harbor Cultural Center on Staten Island in New York for a panel discussion on the creation of immersive productions. The panel, entitled "All the World is a Stage," was part of the Future of Storytelling Festival 2017 (FoST FEST), advertised as "the world's leading immersive storytelling event." During this discussion, each of the four panelists described examples of their work. Hector Harkness, Associate Director of Punchdrunk International, explained how the company created productions that "rip up the rules for the audience" so they can "go beyond the boundaries of closed environments." Food technologist, experience designer, and multimedia artist Emilie Baltz described inviting audiences to step up to a microphone and use their tongues, teeth, and lips to play musical popsicles in an installation called PopStars. Jon Sands, founder of Poets in Unexpected Places, revealed how his strategic placement of poets on subway cars across New York City turned commutes into impromptu poetry slams for unsuspecting riders, some of whom joined in by improvising their own poetic works. Justin "JB" Bolognino, CEO (Chief Experience Officer) of META, an experience production company, described his commissioning of Jon Morris, artistic director of the Brooklyn-based Windmill Factory, to design a music-festival queue into an experiential artwork. Entitled Right Passage, the work was a "room-scale sound and light performance installation" involving moving walls that guided festival participants efficiently into the concert venue (Windmill Factory 2017). Through their detailed descriptions of how their productions organized the bodies of performers and spectators in space and time, the panelists hinted at the presence of choreography in their productions"--

Book Tandem Computers Unplugged

Download or read book Tandem Computers Unplugged written by Gaye I. Clemson and published by Fastpencil Incorporated. This book was released on 2012-07-01 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ABOUT THE BOOK "Lots of histories have been written about Silicon Valley companies. What makes this one about Tandem unique is that it reflects, through the eyes and hearts of the employees who worked there, what they respected about the company. This is valuable insight for CEOs trying to decide what kind of company to build and for employees trying to decide what kind of company to work for." -Jimmy Treybig, President "Gaye does an amazing job capturing not only the historical timeline of events, but the very soul of the company... the success, the fun, and the departure of the unforgettable once-in-a-career experience that was Tandem. You'll smile from start to finish." -Jan Seamons, Former Program Manager, Sales and Marketing "Gaye has weaved a story that tells of a great experiment in corporate culture. Tandem strived to build not only a unique computer, but a unique work environment based on collaboration of outstanding people. Tandem Computers Unplugged gives an insight in to the successes and failures of that experiment through very personal stories in a delightful read." -Jim Katzman, Co-Founder "It seems ironic that we speak so highly of a corporate culture that is no longer with us. Gaye has captured, not only as a historian but through her own personal experiences at Tandem and through her writing style, the essence of what was a pillar of Silicon Valley. A sense of loss that I have felt over the years, in Tandem's passing, is now filled with this wonderful tribute." -Ed Martin, Former Project Manager, Philosophy Program ABOUT THE AUTHOR Since 2002, Gaye I. Clemson, a Tandem Computers employee from 1984 to 1992, has been collecting stories and recollections from fellow employees in an effort to capture the voices and history of this amazing company that thrived in Silicon Valley from 1974 to 2002. Though her 8th book in the oral history tradition, this is her first venture into using social media as the primary story collection medium and her first use of this narrative process for a high technology company. Clemson resides in Capitola, California, though in summer can usually be found paddling her canoe on a wilderness lake in Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada.
