Book In Sync with the Sacred Out of Step with the World

Download or read book In Sync with the Sacred Out of Step with the World written by Tom Stella and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2023-10-11 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does it mean to live “in sync with the sacred?” For Tom Stella it means living an authentic life. It means stepping to the cadence of the sacred, which requires a specific type of courage: the courage to be different, to stand out, to be odd and perhaps even considered a threat by those who find their identity, comfort, and security in the status quo, the conventional. The good news is that we can do this while conducting our everyday lives. Unlike Thoreau, who felt he had to retreat to Walden Pond “to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach,” we don’t have to retreat to the woods. According to Stella, authenticity is first and foremost a matter of being attuned and responsive to the sacred within—to an instinct, an intuition, a sixth sense, a deep voiceless voice that can be “heard” even in a crowd. This inner guide may at times call us to live apart from others, but it surely summons us to follow a road less traveled; that is to turn away from the conventional wisdom of society, those ways of thinking, believing, and behaving that go unquestioned—busy is good, more is better, success equals wealth. Welcome to a refreshing version of spirituality.

Welcome to a refreshing version of spirituality. In this richly rewarding book, Tom Stella offers insights into what it means to live a soul-full life. More than that, he provides a guide on how to approach life in ways that make soul-sense, even if those ways seem like nonsense to the world around us. Along the way, Stella draws from the wisdom of mystics East and West, as well as from poets, philosophers, and theologians of every persuasion. He, and they, encourage us to live not only out of step with convention, but in sync with the sacred, by whatever name, and by whatever means we discover and follow it. In Sync with the Sacred, Out of Step with the World is Tom Stellas followup to his breakthrough CPR for the Soul, which won Highly Recommended in Soul & Spirits 2019 Spiritual Book Awards for Best Spiritual Author. Tom Stellas work is acknowledged to provide a clear path forward for the spiritually curious, cautious, and committed.

Book Meditations for Mediocre Mystics

Download or read book Meditations for Mediocre Mystics written by Tom Stella and published by Wood Lake Publishing Inc.. This book was released on 2023-01-27 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The term “mediocre mystics” seems a fitting way to refer to those who yearn for the nameless but do not qualify as full blown mystics. I realize that because there is nothing middling about mystics, “mediocre mystics” may appear to be an oxymoron, but the root meaning of “mediocre” is not second-rate. From the Latin mediocris, the word means moderate or ordinary and has been used figuratively to refer to one who is halfway up a mountain. Unlike ordinary folks, sainted mystics have reached the mountaintop; they are on a first-name basis with the nameless! But just because we haven’t arrived at the heights, just because our lives unfold in the valley of ordinary, everyday life doesn’t mean that we cannot or do not experience the desire that has fueled the mystic’s climb. “All my life my heart has yearned for a thing I cannot name.” –Andre´ Breton All my life I have experienced the yearning to which French writer and poet André Breton refers. For me that yearning is composed in part of a subtle discontent, a quiet feeling that something is missing despite the fact that nothing is missing. Significant relationships, meaningful work, as well as material and monetary security have never been enough to satisfy the desire for that which I cannot name. I know I’m not alone in my discontent or my longing for the nameless, for mystics of every spiritual and religious tradition have spoken of their desire for and experience of union with a spiritual entity that is as real as it is surreal. I am not claiming that just because I share their yearning I consider myself a mystic, but neither do I believe that the term “mystic” is entirely inappropriate for those of us who might glimpse briefly what certified or canonized mystics have been blinded by.

Liles shares the wisdom, guidance, insight and support that he received from God and the Christ Spirit within us over a full year of sitting in the silence every morning. Book The Science of Sacred Scripture

Download or read book The Science of Sacred Scripture written by Shema and published by The Shema. This book was released on 2012-10-22 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our creator finally provides the actual details of his design in the long sort after ?Theory of Everything.' Now, our eyes finally open to fully understand the world which we have studied. The tribes and so called races of man have all been given pieces of this massive puzzle. When put together, it weaves a tapestry of one beautiful story. The bible provides the structure, the Africans provide a first person account, Native Americans hold vital elements, the Aztecs tell us the thoughts of God and his expectations for his designs. Asian theology focuses on living today and Christianity takes us to a new tomorrow. But no story could be complete without the details, the process used, the illusive ?How,? for this we thank the final seers of science. The bible tells us that to achieve the design of man, God cursed man to become weaker, naked, to have pain during labor and the entire event is triggered in the process of eating. Geneticist confirm that the genetic mutations which transformed man are weaker muscles, a narrower pelvic cavity, a significant loss of body hair and a redesign in the jaw muscles which allows the brain to grow much larger than other primates. From this we discover that what science refers to as a genetic mutation is considered a biblical curse. And from this every curse from those relating to incest and over eating are connected to mutations. From the weaving of the universe to the wiring of the brain, every question you've ever asked about life and death and who we are is finally answered. God is not dead, he is life.

Book McManus 2 in 1 Soul Cravings Barbarian Way

Download or read book McManus 2 in 1 Soul Cravings Barbarian Way written by Erwin Raphael McManus and published by Thomas Nelson. This book was released on 2011-05-21 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A collection of two titles authored by Erwin McManus. BARBARIAN WAY: Erwin McManus wasn't raised in a Christian home, so when he came to Christ as a college student, he didn't know the rules of the "religious club." He didn't do well in Shakespeare courses, so he didn't really understand the KJV Bible he was given either. But he did understand that prayer was a conversation, and he learned to talk to God and wait for answers. Erwin's way was passionate and rough around the edges-a sincere, barbaric journey to Christ. SOUL CRAVINGS: We can spend our whole lives trying to satisfy the one insatiable part of our being, our soul craving. Our capacity for spiritual experience both proves our need for something greater than ourselves and leaves us wanting when we fill it with anything but God. Soul Cravings is a powerful, down-to-earth exposition that interprets our need for intimacy, meaning, and destiny as common sense apologetics pointing to the existence of and our need for God. The book will deeply stir the reader to consider and chase after the spiritual implications of their soul's deepest longings.

After a fateful encounter with a high initiate of the ancient Fellowship of Isis, she began researching the history of Judaism and Christianity to find out how and when the Divine Feminine became lost. She discovered a forgotten age when the Creator was honored as female and humanity lived in peaceful societies completely free of war. She shows how we can return to an age of peace and celestial light if we work to bring the masculine and feminine energies of the world back into balance. Sharing her journey into the heart of the Divine Mother, McCannon details her initiation into the Fellowship of Isis, a process rich with ceremony, ritual, and myths of the Goddess from ancient Egyptian, Celtic, Greek, Hebrew, and Native American traditions. She reveals how the many archetypes of the Goddess, including Isis, Ishtar, Brigit, and the Black Madonna, can become our allies for self-transformation. She explores Mysteries at the heart of Christianity that have remained hidden for nearly 2,000 years and how the Gnostic goddess Sophia is tied to the Second Coming, Mary Magdalene, and the Female Christ. She reveals the lost teachings of Jesus about the Divine Mother and Father and about the Divine Daughter and Son. Through her story and her in-depth research, McCannon takes us on a journey to awaken the creative power of the Divine Feminine within each of us. Equipped with the teachings of the Goddess, we gain the mastery to overcome the deeply rooted masculine-feminine imbalance of the patriarchy and to embark into the future as Homo luminous, beings of light.

And in the heart of the city, under the Pantheon’s great dome, a woman’s body lies on the marble floor, carefully positioned with a gruesome carving on her back....In David Hewson’s ingenious new thriller, this horrific murder hurtles Rome’s police force into a collision with U.S. agents–and a secret that has festered for fifteen years, now unraveling in the world’s most enigmatic city. When Detective Nic Costa arrives at the scene, he is unprepared for what he finds, or for the ambush that leaves his only witness vanished into the night. The dead woman was American. Within hours, U.S. agents descend with a take-no-prisoners style and a shocking story to tell: the killer has struck before, in monuments all over the world, leaving the same cryptic message carved onto the bodies of the victims. But one agent, beautiful, blond Emily Deacon, has yet another story to tell Nic–about a stunning act of deception that may lead back to the U.S. government, and her own chilling, personal connection to the killer. Now, as the first murder leads to more grisly slayings and a motley crew of veteran Roman cops jousts with the Americans, Nic is pulled into a woman’s harrowing search for the truth…a search that will take them both into the mind of a madman, into a shocking conspiracy–and into a dark episode in a nation’s long-forgotten past. From its haunting opening to its nerve-shattering climax, The Sacred Cut defies all our expectations, proving once again the unique and compelling genius of David Hewson. From the Hardcover edition.

Polarizing, us-against-them discussions divide us and distract us from thinking clearly and communicating lovingly with others. Scott Sauls, like many of us, is weary of the bickering and is seeking a way of truth and beauty through the conflicts. Jesus Outside the Lines presents Jesus as this way. Scott shows us how the words and actions of Jesus reveal a response that does not perpetuate the destructive fray. Jesus offers us a way forward—away from harshness, caricatures, and stereotypes. In Jesus Outside the Lines, you will experience a fresh perspective of Jesus, who will not (and should not) fit into the sides.
