Book Quest for the Origin of Particles and the Universe

Download or read book Quest for the Origin of Particles and the Universe written by Yasumichi Aoki and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2013 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Kobayashi-Maskawa Institute for the Origin of Particles and the Universe (KMI) was founded at Nagoya University in 2010 under the directorship of T Maskawa, in celebration of the 2008 Nobel Prize in Physics for M Kobayashi and T Maskawa, both who are alumni of Nagoya University. In commemoration of the new KMI building in 2011, the KMI Inauguration Conference (KMIIN) was organized to discuss perspectives of various fields OCo both theoretical and experimental studies of particle physics and astrophysics OCo as the main objectives of the KMI activity. This proceedings contains a welcome address by T Maskawa conveying his hopes for KMI to create new revolutionary directions in the spirit of Shoichi Sakata, a great mentor of both Maskawa and Kobayashi. Invited speakers, world-leading scientists in the fields, and the young scientists at KMI contributed to this volume containing theoretical studies of strongly coupled gauge theories in view of LHC phenomenology, string theory approach and lattice studies as well as hot/dense QCD system, and also super-symmetric GUT models, etc., together with experimental studies of LHC physics, B physics, neutrino physics and the related astrophysics and cosmology. The volume yields a unique synergy of particle physics and astrophysics, closely related to the main activity of KMI encompassing particle theory (including lattice computer simulations), particle physics experiments, cosmology, and astrophysics observations."

Download or read book Is There a Universe written by Stanley L. Jaki and published by Liverpool University Press. This book was released on 1993-01-01 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is there a Universe? Bafflingly, scientific cosmologists, from Einstein to Hawking, have invariably failed to face up to this question. This is all the more curious because some of them have claimed to know that the universe can only be such as prescribed by their theories. Some even claimed that their expertise enables them to create, in theory at least, entire universes literally out of nothing. For their strange attitudes towards the universe, this greatest object of empirical human enquiry, scientists have not been taken to task by philosophers. No wonder. The universe has become orphaned by modern philosophy. In this book the author, a renowned historian and philosopher of science, and especially of astronomy and cosmology, probes into this puzzling state of affairs. He also points out that slighting the question, Is there a Universe?, has serious consequences for science as well as for philosophy, to say nothing of theology. Most importantly, he shows that it is possible to answer the question, Is there a Universe?, in a convincingly demonstrative way.

Book The Dark Physics of The Universe

Download or read book The Dark Physics of The Universe written by Burtay Mutlu and published by Burtay Mutlu. This book was released on 2019-05-05 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book uses the knowledge of physics to interpret the events and facts in the Universe from a completely different perspective as philosophically. In a way, this is a philosophy for physic with a different Universe model proposal. It proposes some answers for the mechanism of motion in the perspective of Speed, momentum, relativistic mass, mass existence, inertia, time dilation, length contraction by using Waveform Time due to expansion of the Universe. In this view, you can see the mechanism of time dilation and length contraction in the quantum level under constant speed and acceleration. The book also suggests some explanations for The Time, The Dimension, the 4th and 5th dimensions, The Anti Matter, The Spin, The Bonds, The Chaotic Systems. And the Book gives some answers in the same viewpoint for the impossibility of traveling in Time and reaching Light Speed for the Mass.

Book excerpt: When Marcel Proust started to work on In Search of Lost Time in 1908, he wrote this question in his notebook: ‘Should I make it a novel, a philosophical study, am I a novelist?’ Throughout his famous multi-volume work, Proust directly engages several philosophers, and few novels are as thoroughly saturated with philosophical themes and concepts as In Search of Lost Time. The Proustian Mind is an outstanding reference source to the rich philosophical range of Proust’s work and the first major volume of its kind. Including 31 chapters by an international team of contributors, the volume is divided into seven clear parts: Proust’s life and works metaphysics and epistemology mind and language aesthetics ethics gender and sexuality predecessors, contemporaries and successors. Within these sections, key Proustian themes are explored from a philosophical standpoint, including time, the self, memory, imagination, jealousy, beauty, love, subjectivity and desire. The final section considers Proust in relation to important philosophers such as Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Bergson, Merleau-Ponty, Sartre, de Beauvoir and Deleuze. The Proustian Mind is essential reading for those studying aesthetics, philosophy of literature, phenomenology and ethics, and will also be of interest to those in literature studying modernism, French literature and the relationship between literature and philosophy.
