Book In Phase and Quadrature Imbalance

Download or read book In Phase and Quadrature Imbalance written by Yabo Li and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-10-01 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a unified IQ imbalance model and systematically reviews the existing estimation and compensation schemes. It covers the different assumptions and approaches that lead to many models of IQ imbalance. In wireless communication systems, the In-phase and Quadrature (IQ) modulator and demodulator are usually used as transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX), respectively. For Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) and Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) limited systems, such as multi-giga-hertz bandwidth millimeter-wave systems, using analog modulator and demodulator is still a low power and low cost solution. In these kind of systems, the IQ imbalance cannot be ignored. By explaining a variety of assumptions and models of IQ imbalance, the author provides a helpful resource for those who are new to this complex topic. The intended audience of this book is researchers working on the IQ imbalance as well as the system design engineers who use IQ imbalance in their systems.

Book Modern Digital Radio Communication Signals and Systems

Download or read book Modern Digital Radio Communication Signals and Systems written by Sung-Moon Michael Yang and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-01-07 with total page 760 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book serves as an easily accessible reference for wireless digital communication systems. Topics are presented with simple but non-trivial examples and then elaborated with their variations and sophistications. The book includes numerous examples and exercises to illustrate key points. For this new edition, a set of problems at the end of each chapter is added, for a total of 298 problems. The book emphasizes both practical problem solving and a thorough understanding of fundamentals, aiming to realize the complementary relationship between practice and theory. Though the author emphasizes wireless radio channels, the fundamentals that are covered here are useful to different channels - digital subscriber line, coax, power lines, optical fibers, and even Gigabit serial connections. The material in chapters 5 (OFDM), 6 (Channel coding), 7 (Synchronization), and 8 (Transceivers) contains new and updated information, not explicitly available in typical textbooks, and useful in practice. For example, in chapter 5, all known orthogonal frequency division multiplex signals are derived from its digitized analog FDM counterparts. Thus, it is flexible to have different pulse shape for subcarriers, and it can be serial transmission as well as block transmission. Currently predominant cyclic prefix based OFDM is a block transmission using rectangular pulse in time domain. This flexibility may be useful in certain applications. Book IQ Calibration Techniques for CMOS Radio Transceivers

Download or read book IQ Calibration Techniques for CMOS Radio Transceivers written by Sao-Jie Chen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-11-05 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 802.11n wireless standard uses 64-state quadrature amplitude modulation (64-QAM) to achieve higher spectral efficiency. Consequently, the transmitter and receiver require a higher signal to noise ratio with the same level of error rate performance. This book offers a fully-analog compensation technique without baseband circuitry to control the calibration process. Using an 802.11g transceiver design as an example, it describes in detail an auto-calibration mechanism for I/Q gains and phases imbalance.

Book Coherent Cooperative Relaying in Low Mobility Wireless Multiuser Networks

Download or read book Coherent Cooperative Relaying in Low Mobility Wireless Multiuser Networks written by Stefan Berger and published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. This book was released on 2010 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this thesis, several important aspects of cooperative wireless multiuser networks are investigated. The focus lies on coherent two-hop relaying networks where several amplify-and-forward (AF) relays assist the communication between multiple source-destination pairs. First, the impact of local oscillator (LO) imperfections and I/Q imbalance at the relays on two-hop relaying is investigated. A special focus lies on the comparison between frequency division duplexing (FDD) and time division duplexing (TDD) relays. Based on the observation that the direction in which a channel between two wireless nodes is measured has an impact on the estimate, phase synchronization requirements for coherent relaying networks are then found. Several channel estimation protocols that differ in the direction in which the single-hop channels are measured are furthermore identi'ed and their performance is compared. Next, a very simple phase synchronization scheme is presented that provides a set of relays with a common LO phase. Two coherent beamforming schemes, namely multiuser zero-forcing (MUZF) and multiuser minimum mean squared error (MMSE) relaying, are then investigated. Finally, a real-world demonstrator for distributed wireless communication networks (called RACooN Lab) is presented. It was used to implement coherent cooperative communication schemes on a practical two-hop relaying network.
