Book Improvement of the Ozonation Process Through the Use of Static Mixers

Download or read book Improvement of the Ozonation Process Through the Use of Static Mixers written by C. Mysore and published by IWA Publishing. This book was released on 2004-01-01 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Among the known disinfectants, ozone has been demonstrated to be very effective in inactivating protozoans. Current and proposed regulations impose additional treatment requirements for Cryptosporidium parvum. These regulatory trends tend to place more stringent performance demands on disinfection systems and have therefore increased the need for improvements in the design. The static mixer offers one alternative method for improving the efficiency of the dissolution of ozone and optimizing its use in the disinfection process. The overall objective of this research was to quantify the potential benefits of ozone application through the use of static mixers in terms of increased transfer efficiency, disinfection capacity, and enhanced chemical reactions at laboratory-, pilot-, and full-scale systems. Specific goals were to identify and quantify the effect of several water quality parameters and environmental/engineered factors on the disinfection capacity of the ozone-static mixer system and assess bromate formation under optimum conditions for microbial inactivation.Originally published by AwwaRF for its subscribers in 2003 This publication can also be purchased and downloaded via Pay Per View on Water Intelligence Online - click on the Pay Per View icon below

Book Chemical Water and Wastewater Treatment III

Download or read book Chemical Water and Wastewater Treatment III written by Rudolf Klute and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Exactly ten years ago an experiment was started that proved to be extremely successful: the First Gothenburg Symposium. Its intent was to further the under standing of all processes pertaining to Chemical Water and Wastewater Treatment, and to bring together specialists working in basic research as well as in devel opment and administration. Now, the Proceedings of the Sixth Symposium are about to be published, clearly proving that there is a need for this forum. They dramatically illustrate the significance and the dynamic development of the topics of these symposia. It is fascinating to witness that in this time of reduced economic growth or even standstill, the environmental drive has not come to a halt, as many anticipated or feared. It is accepted more and more that the protection of the environment, a constant theme in all the Gothenburg Symposia, is not only a topic to be dealt with in times of affluence; it is now also seen as an instrument for cutting ex penditure, saving energy, and husbanding resources. The ever growing interest in these Gothenburg Symposia, documented by the large number of contributions the scientific panel received and the large demand for the books of this series that always exceeds the supply, testify to this commitment.

Book Water wastewater and soil treatment by advanced oxidation processes AOPs

Download or read book Water wastewater and soil treatment by advanced oxidation processes AOPs written by Vincenzo Naddeo and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2011-06-01 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) have gained attention rapidly worldwide since they have been proven to be effective in the removal of wide spectrum of organic and inorganic contaminants from water and soil. However, the issues related to the formation of oxidation intermediates which may be more toxic than parent compounds as well as the operating costs are the main obstacles to a wider spread at full scale. This volume is addressed to researchers and professionals with a background in environmental science and engineering. The objective is to provide them with knowledge about AOPs related applications such as fundamentals and technology, analytical characterization of emerging contaminants and oxidation by products, ecotoxicity and biodegradability tests, urban and industrial wastewater treatment, sludge treatment and reduction, soil treatment, solar driven AOPs.

Book Ozonation of Water and Waste Water

Download or read book Ozonation of Water and Waste Water written by Christiane Gottschalk and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-07-11 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ozonation of compounds in water is a complex process. The mechanisms are very complicated, the parameters are many, but the possibilities of developing cost-effective treatment schemes for drinking water and waste water are large. Most books available today concentrate on either drinking water or waste water treatment, seldom dealing with both or explaining the essential differences. And only rare exceptions deal with the how-to of ozone experiments. This practical guide fills the gap. It contains the cumulative knowledge on experimental design, execution, interpretation and application. Drawing on experience gained from hours spent on laboratory research with drinking and waste waters, literature study, intensive discussion with leading experts, perplexed reflection and deep thought, the book offers practical help to avoid common pitfalls and unnecessary work. This book is aimed at professionals in industry and research currently using ozonation who want to optimize their system, as well as students beginning work with ozonation. It contains just enough information for beginners to start with, but goes rapidly to the detailed information that advanced readers need.
