Download or read book Implementing an Evangelism Strategy for the First Vietnamese Baptist Church of Dalton Georgia written by Vu Nguyen and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The project details the office of deacon as presented in Acts and 1 Timothy. The project seeks to design training processes that develop a biblical and theological understanding and deportment of church leaders in the First Vietnamese Baptist Church of Dalton. Methods include a synergistic approach to training in evangelism, character development, and leadership through service. Chapter 1 presents the purpose, goals, context, rationale, definitions, limitations, and delimitations of the project. It describes the context of ministry for the First Vietnamese Baptist Church of Dalton and includes a history of the church and the present situation of the church. This chapter includes a detailed demographic analysis of the community of the church. It also describes the context of the ministry project, which comes from the rationale for evangelism and church growth. Chapter 2 formulates the biblical and theological basis. It addresses the biblical and theological foundations for evangelism and church growth. Without biblical and theological foundations, the church's growth will be weak. Standing on theological truth helps church members be stronger in fighting against the schemes of Satan in the spiritual warfare for their souls. Chapter 3 examines the scriptural principles of spiritual authority. It relates the theoretical and practical issues concerning Vietnamese history, culture, religions, and immigration to the United States as they apply to the project. This chapter describes the effective communications needed to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with Vietnamese Americans, who are often unprepared to meet God. Sound theology for cross-cultural evangelism will help church leaders improve their capability to do missions effectively. Chapter 4 presents the curriculum and practicum administered during the course of the project. It presents the guidelines for the implementation of the project, which includes twelve weeks for training, two weeks for outreach practice, and one week for evaluation. This chapter is to be seen as a template for evangelism and church growth, which may be transferred and tailored to other small Vietnamese American communities in the United States. Chapter 5 presents an evaluation of the effectiveness of the project. It includes the results from the participants' survey, which the author evaluated. The purpose, goals, strengths, and weaknesses of the project are presented, along with personal reflections on the project. An assessment addresses appropriate changes for improvements to this project.

Download or read book Fundamentalism and Education in the Scopes Era written by A. Laats and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-05-24 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book takes a new look at one of the most contentious periods in American history. The battles over schools that surrounded the famous Scopes "monkey" trial in 1925 were about much more than evolution. Fundamentalists fought to maintain cultural control of education. As this book reveals for the first time, the successes and the failures of these fundamentalist campaigns transformed both the fundamentalist movement and the nature of education in America. In turn, those transformations determined many of the positions of the "culture wars" that raged throughout the twentieth century.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This fresh assessment of covenant theology may represent the first book-length examination of the structural relationships of the Old Testament covenants. Tremper Longman, a professor of Old Testament at Westminster Theological Seminary, describes The Covenants of Promise as “a marvelously written and profound book which deals with some of the most crucial issues in biblical theology.” “The significance of The Covenants of Promise,” writes the author, “is in its application of the structure of the covenants to biblical theology. . . . The division of the Old Testament covenants into the categories ‘promissory’ and ‘administrative’ is unique in the literature on the covenants.” This complex “bi-covenantal” structure within which God disposes of the inheritance promised to his people becomes discernible in the biblical text through a sound application of proper exegetical theology. The textual evidence leads one to question the way some tenets of traditional covenant theology have been expressed, but not the tenets themselves. The author first explores the promise in its Old and New Testament settings. He deals with the way in which the promise is expressed in the major covenants, devoting considerable space to the law in the teachings of Jesus and Paul. Next he argues that the promise covenant is eternally valid and that circumcision, the law, and the new covenant are “administrative covenants.” Finally he examines the implications of this structure for biblical theology. Selected topics are the redemptive relationship between Father and Son, the covenant of works, law and grace, and the relationship between the testaments.

Book The Gospel Comes with a House Key

Download or read book The Gospel Comes with a House Key written by Rosaria Butterfield and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2018-04-16 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What did God use to draw a radical, committed unbeliever to himself? Did God take her to an evangelistic rally? Or, since she had her doctorate in literature, did he use something in print? No, God used an invitation to dinner in a modest home, from a humble couple who lived out the gospel daily, simply, and authentically. With this story of her conversion as a backdrop, Rosaria Butterfield invites us into her home to show us how God can use this same "radical, ordinary hospitality" to bring the gospel to our lost friends and neighbors. Such hospitality sees our homes as not our own, but as God's tools for the furtherance of his kingdom as we welcome those who look, think, believe, and act differently from us into our everyday, sometimes messy lives—helping them see what true Christian faith really looks like.
