Book Business Process Implementation

Download or read book Business Process Implementation written by M. A. Jackson and published by Addison-Wesley Professional. This book was released on 1997 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The speed with which today's businesses have to adapt to ever-changing circumstances and the complexity required to remain ahead in a competitive environment have forced the development of automated business process systems. Business Process Implementation describes a new method for designing and implementingoffice workflow systems. This method was developed by Graham Twaddle and his colleagues, and has been analysed and described by Michael Jackson, one of the pre-eminent contributors to current software development practices. It has been tried and tested by Sherwood International UK who have incorporated it into their award-winning Logicware software support system. The method consists of a carefully crafted combination of data and process modelling that permits highly parallel, and therefore highly efficient and flexible workflow. Moreover, it embodies a novel approach to database design and implementation that gives many of the benefits usually ascribed to object orientation but requires only a conventional relational database environment.Key Features of the book include: - A clear and insightful description of the method, its range of applicability and its use.- Innovative diagram and textual notations for data and process modelling.- A thorough description of the Logicware software support system which provides insight into implementation issues and shows how to mechanize and simplify development.- Questions at the end of each chapter, providing readers with an opportunity to check their understanding of the concepts involved. This book will be invaluable for anyone who has to develop and use business systems for information and administration and especially to those working inan environment where office workflow is an important concern. It will provide the reader with a way of clearly documenting the processes and process-related knowledge that are the end result of a Business Process Reengineering study. It also provides an approach to implementing the reengineered processes that has been tried and tested successfully in large systems for critical business applications.Michael Jackson has worked in software for thirty five years during which time he has been involved in all aspects of program and system development. In 1971 he started his own company offering courses, project support and tools for software developers. He now works as an independent consultant in London and works part-time in software development research at AT&T Research in New Jersey. He played the leading role in developing the JSP and JSD methods of program and system development, and described them in his previous books Principles of Program Design and System Development. His most recent book Software Requirements and Specifications was published by Addison Wesley in June 1995.Graham Twaddle is technical Director of Sherwood International a company specialising in the design and production of computer systems for the insurance industry. Prior to this Graham was the founding director of Beta Computers a company specialising in tools for assisting rapid application development in many industry areas.Shelf category: Software Engineering Design / Business Systems

Book Mapping the implementation process for subsidized fertilizer distribution under Ghana s Planting for Food and Jobs Program

Download or read book Mapping the implementation process for subsidized fertilizer distribution under Ghana s Planting for Food and Jobs Program written by Aberman, Noora-Lisa and published by Intl Food Policy Res Inst. This book was released on 2021-06-09 with total page 31 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) is Ghana’s flagship program for agricultural transformation and employment creation. Alongside other components, the program provides subsidized fertilizer, hybrid and open-pollinated seeds and other planting materials, improved extension services, and marketing support to smallholder farmers across the country. The objective of this study was to assess the implementation process of the PFJ input subsidy program in order to identify opportunities for strengthening the process. The study focused only on fertilizer distribution as a distinct complex process of importance, although some of the lessons will be applicable to other components of the PFJ program. The study applied the Process Net-Map method, a research approach that is particularly useful for assessing the coherence between formally prescribed procedures and how those procedures are implemented in practice, enabling the identification of inefficiencies and bottlenecks in a complex process. The implementation of the PFJ fertilizer subsidy program was mapped in interviews with key informants at national level and in six districts. Interviews with national-level stakeholders yielded important insights about the complex largely administrative process involved in the implementation of PFJ, which is generally unseen by beneficiaries. These administrative processes, however, have a considerable impact on the timeliness of the program and provide an outline of the intended implementation process at the local district level. The perspectives of farmers with regards to these processes were also investigated through in-depth interviews. Across the study districts we found some ambiguity and inconsistency in following the formally prescribed procedures for implementing the PFJ fertilizer subsidy program. While we found broad agreement among key informants and farmers that the program is meeting its objectives, some areas in which the implementation process for the PFJ fertilizer subsidy program could be improved are highlighted. These improvements will enhance the efficiency and impact of the program.

Book Process Management and Organizational Process Maturity

Download or read book Process Management and Organizational Process Maturity written by Anna Kosieradzka and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-02-02 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses the need for a better understanding of the design, implementation and improvement of process management. It presents and organizes concepts and problems in the field of process management, and indicates supporting tools assigned to each of the four basic stages of the process life cycle (modeling, implementation, verification and perfection). By comparing non-economic and economic organisations, the authors demonstrate that a uniform approach to process management (one that does not take into account the specifics of an organizations goals) is ineffective; instead, process management needs to account for the individuality of an organisation. This book will appeal to researchers studying process and organizational excellence.

Book Managing Process Innovation From Idea Generation To Implementation

Download or read book Managing Process Innovation From Idea Generation To Implementation written by Lager Thomas and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2010-10-19 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book will take the reader through a systematic examination of the factors involved in process innovation. It starts with the considerations to be initiated in the boardroom and at group management level and develops into a hands-on guide for middle management and professional engineers directly involved in the innovation of process technology. The book initially puts process innovation in a corporate perspective, providing a framework for the development of a corporate process innovation strategy. Some new methodological tools are also introduced which support the targeting and proper roadmapping of improved process capabilities, and the progression of customer and end-user product demands, into raw-material specifications in a well-managed supply and demand chain.Various aspects of the design of a process innovation organisation are reviewed in a later section. In the context of the development of process technology, this book advocates the importance of delineating and clarifying corporate work processes. Various environments for development work are discussed, from initial test work to pilot-plant testing and the use of demonstration facilities to achieve lean process innovation. The importance of an open collaborative approach is stressed. This includes involving external equipment manufacturers at an early stage as well as collaborative development of customers' use of the products in their production processes, with a view to excellence in future application development.Process innovation will not, however, generate profit or reduce operating costs until the new or improved process technology is operating well in the plant. Best practice for start-up of new process technology and process plants is examined, starting with a fresh outlook on technology transfer in general. This often-neglected area of management of process innovation is, in fact, of an importance equivalent to that of a product launch in the development of new products. The final part of the book closes the circle, discussing how to implement and measure the strategic intent of process innovation. Improving the general performance of corporate process innovation is then covered by going through success factors and key performance indicators, and their aggregation on a corporate level.
