Book Atlas of Regional Anatomy of the Brain Using MRI

Download or read book Atlas of Regional Anatomy of the Brain Using MRI written by Jean C. Tamraz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-02-08 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A unique review of the essential topographical anatomy of the brain from an MRI perspective, correlating high-quality anatomical plates with high-resolution MRI images. The book includes a historical review of brain mapping and an analysis of the essential reference planes used. It provides a detailed review of the sulcal and the gyral anatomy of the human cortex, guiding readers through an interpretation of the individual brain atlas provided by high-resolution MRI. The relationship between brain structure and function is approached in a topographical fashion with an analysis of the necessary imaging methodology and displayed anatomy. An extensive coronal atlas rounds off the book.

Book Architectonics of the Human Telencephalic Cortex

Download or read book Architectonics of the Human Telencephalic Cortex written by H. Braak and published by Springer. This book was released on 2011-12-16 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a timely opus. Most of us now are too young to remember the unpleasant ring of a polemic between those who produced "hair-splitting" parcellations of the cortex (to paraphrase one of O. Vogt's favourite expressions) and those who saw the cortex as a homogeneous matrix sus taining the reverberations of EEG waves (to paraphrase Bailey and von Bonin). One camp accused the other of producing bogus preparations with a paint brush, and the other way around the accusation was that of poor eye-sight. Artefacts of various sorts were invoked to explain the opponent's error, ranging from perceptual effects (Mach bands crispening the areal borders) to poor fixation supposedly due to perfusion too soon (!) after death. I have heard most of this directly from the protagonists' mouths. The polemic was not resolved but it has mellowed with age and ultimately faded out. I was relieved to see that Professor Braak elegantly avoids dis cussion of an extrememist tenet, that of "hair-sharp" areal boundaries, which makes little sense in developmental biology and is irrelevant to neurophysiology. It was actually detrimental to cortical neuroanatomy, since its negation led to the idea that structurally distinct areas are not at all existent. Yet, nobody would deny the reality of five fingers on one hand even if the detailed assignment of every epidermal cell to one finger or another is obviously impossible.

Book Ph nomenologie der schwachen Phantasie

Download or read book Ph nomenologie der schwachen Phantasie written by Dieter Lohmar and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-11-29 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an effort to bring genetic-phenomenological analyses in contact with empirical psychology, neurology, cognitive science and research in primate cognition. The conclusion reached is that most higher-order achievements of our mind might in fact be accomplished without language in the low-level system of phantasmatic imagination. This leads to an "inclusive theory of the subject" which allows us to understand how higher-organized animals like primates can think.

Book Mental Neuroimplants

    Book Details:
  • Author : Margit M Schreier
  • Publisher : Independently Published
  • Release : 2020-11-05
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 334 pages

Download or read book Mental Neuroimplants written by Margit M Schreier and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2020-11-05 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mental Neuroimplants provides a new take on personality development through brain research - a book for the general reader and practitioner alike. It shows how mental health is influenced by basic neuroscientific rules, and how these can be stabilised and strengthened using a new approach: Mental Neuroimplants. Individual positive emotional worlds can directly impact the brain and - in turn - the psychological health of the person in question. This study shows how this can directly improve quality of life. The authors emphasise that the individual's lifestyle can lead to long-term physical and environmentally induced changes - which can even be effective across generations. The central message of this book is to raise awareness; how using psychological neuroimplants can have a positive impact on numerous areas of life including emotion, health and material prosperity. Hans J. Markowitsch was Professor of Physiological Psychology at the University of Bielefeld, Germany. He studied psychology and biology at the University of Konstanz, had professorships for biopsychology and physiological psychology at the Universities of Konstanz, Bochum, and Bielefeld. He was offered chairs of psychology and neuroscience at both Australian and Canadian Universities. His research centres on the neural and mental bases of memory disorders and on interactions between memory, emotion and consciousness. He is author, co-author or editor of about 30 books and has written around 700 scientific articles. Margit M. Schreier has been working since 1999 as an Independent Management Consultant. She founded the brand NIKU in Germany and the USA. She studied Rightsizing and Upgrading Management at the Georg Simon Ohm Management Institute of the Nuremberg University for Applied Sciences. After many years of personal interest and research in neurosciences, she decided to combine her insights in NIKU. NIKU is a support system for mental autonomy and psychological strength, independent of personal background and opportunities. www.niku-neuro.com
