Book Image Collection Exploration

Download or read book Image Collection Exploration written by Fouad Sabry and published by One Billion Knowledgeable. This book was released on 2024-05-05 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is Image Collection Exploration Image collection exploration is a mechanism to explore large digital image repositories. The huge amount of digital images produced every day through different devices such as mobile phones bring forth challenges for the storage, indexing and access to these repositories. Content-based image retrieval (CBIR) has been the traditional paradigm to index and retrieve images. However, this paradigm suffers of the well known semantic gap problem. Image collection exploration consists of a set of computational methods to represent, summarize, visualize and navigate image repositories in an efficient, effective and intuitive way. How you will benefit (I) Insights, and validations about the following topics: Chapter 1: Image collection exploration Chapter 2: Integrated development environment Chapter 3: Web crawler Chapter 4: Image retrieval Chapter 5: Automatic summarization Chapter 6: Visualization (graphics) Chapter 7: Content-based image retrieval Chapter 8: Similarity measure Chapter 9: Tag cloud Chapter 10: Quartz Composer (II) Answering the public top questions about image collection exploration. (III) Real world examples for the usage of image collection exploration in many fields. Who this book is for Professionals, undergraduate and graduate students, enthusiasts, hobbyists, and those who want to go beyond basic knowledge or information for any kind of Image Collection Exploration.

Download or read book Exploration Interactive Incr mentale Et Multi niveau de Larges Collections D images written by Frédéric Rayar (docteur en informatique).) and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The research work that is presented and discussed in this thesis focuses on large and evergrowing image collections. More specifically, we aim at providing one the possibility to explore such image collections, either to extract some kind of information and knowledge, or to wander in the collections. This thesis addresses this issue from the perspective of Interactive Data Exploration and Analytics. We take advantage of the similarity-based image collection browsing paradigm and aim at meeting simultaneously the three following constraints: (i) handling large image collections, up to millions of images, (ii) handling dynamic image collections, to deal with ever-growing image collections, and (iii) providing interactive means to explore image collections. To do so, we jointly study the indexing and the interactive visualisation of large and ever-growing image collections.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is Image Retrieval An image retrieval system is a computer system used for browsing, searching and retrieving images from a large database of digital images. Most traditional and common methods of image retrieval utilize some method of adding metadata such as captioning, keywords, title or descriptions to the images so that retrieval can be performed over the annotation words. Manual image annotation is time-consuming, laborious and expensive; to address this, there has been a large amount of research done on automatic image annotation. Additionally, the increase in social web applications and the semantic web have inspired the development of several web-based image annotation tools. How you will benefit (I) Insights, and validations about the following topics: Chapter 1: Image retrieval Chapter 2: Information retrieval Chapter 3: Content-based image retrieval Chapter 4: Automatic image annotation Chapter 5: Google Images Chapter 6: Image meta-search Chapter 7: Visual search engine Chapter 8: Reverse image search Chapter 9: TinEye Chapter 10: Image collection exploration (II) Answering the public top questions about image retrieval. Download or read book Distant Viewing written by Taylor Arnold and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2023-10-17 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new theory and methodology for the application of computer vision methods to the computational analysis of collected, digitized visual materials, called “distant viewing.” Distant Viewing: Computational Exploration of Digital Images presents a new theory and methodology for the computational analysis of digital images, offering a lively, constructive critique of computer vision that you can actually use. What does it mean to say that computer vision “understands” visual inputs? Annotations never capture a whole image. The way digital images convey information requires what researchers Taylor Arnold and Lauren Tilton call “distant viewing”—a play on the well-known term “distant reading” from computational literary analysis. Recognizing computer vision’s limitations, Arnold and Tilton’s spirited examination makes the technical exciting by applying distant viewing to the sitcoms Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie, movie posters and other popular forms of advertising, and Dorothea Lange’s photography. In the tradition of visual culture studies and computer vision, Distant Viewing’s interdisciplinary perspective encompasses film and media studies, visual semiotics, and the sciences to create a playful, accessible guide for an international audience working in digital humanities, data science, media studies, and visual culture studies.

Book The Metadata Manual

Download or read book The Metadata Manual written by Rebecca Lubas and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-07-31 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cultural heritage professionals have high levels of training in metadata. However, the institutions in which they practice often depend on support staff, volunteers, and students in order to function. With limited time and funding for training in metadata creation for digital collections, there are often many questions about metadata without a reliable, direct source for answers. The Metadata Manual provides such a resource, answering basic metadata questions that may appear, and exploring metadata from a beginner’s perspective. This title covers metadata basics, XML basics, Dublin Core, VRA Core, and CDWA schemes and provides exercise in the creation of metadata. Finally, the book gives an overview of metadata, including mapping and sharing. Outlines the most popular metadata schema written by practicing metadata librarians Focuses on what you “need to know Does not require coding experience to use and understand

Book Computer Vision ECCV 2010

Download or read book Computer Vision ECCV 2010 written by Kostas Daniilidis and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-09-08 with total page 828 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 2010 edition of the European Conference on Computer Vision was held in Heraklion, Crete. The call for papers attracted an absolute record of 1,174 submissions. We describe here the selection of the accepted papers: Thirty-eight area chairs were selected coming from Europe (18), USA and Canada (16), and Asia (4). Their selection was based on the following criteria: (1) Researchers who had served at least two times as Area Chairs within the past two years at major vision conferences were excluded; (2) Researchers who served as Area Chairs at the 2010 Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition were also excluded (exception: ECCV 2012 Program Chairs); (3) Minimization of overlap introduced by Area Chairs being former student and advisors; (4) 20% of the Area Chairs had never served before in a major conference; (5) The Area Chair selection process made all possible efforts to achieve a reasonable geographic distribution between countries, thematic areas and trends in computer vision. Each Area Chair was assigned by the Program Chairs between 28–32 papers. Based on paper content, the Area Chair recommended up to seven potential reviewers per paper. Such assignment was made using all reviewers in the database including the conflicting ones. The Program Chairs manually entered the missing conflict domains of approximately 300 reviewers. Based on the recommendation of the Area Chairs, three reviewers were selected per paper (with at least one being of the top three suggestions), with 99.
