Book The Williams Family and an Iguana Named Diego A Lesson in Unconditional Love and Acceptance No Matter the scale

Download or read book The Williams Family and an Iguana Named Diego A Lesson in Unconditional Love and Acceptance No Matter the scale written by Jennifer Foreman de Grassi Williams and published by Williams Family Animal Tale of. This book was released on 2019-02-20 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Book number 8 is about our very own pet dragon, an Iguana named Diego. It is funny how animals end up in a household.Sometimes there is a grand scheme and lots of planning, and other times, by luck or chance, an opportunity happens. Iwasn't looking to have an Iguana, though I always admired their very prehistoric good looks. There happened to be anad, in which someone was looking to rehome their very large Iguana, because the husband had his pet banished to thegarage. The man liked his Iguana, and had him since he was 6" long. The now 4 foot lizard intimated his wife. Anyone who knows an Iguana realizes that they can stare at you without blinking an eye. The wife found this unnerving as she never could figure what Diego was really thinking. As a matter of fact, I was sent to the garage to meet Diego by myself, and there he was looking at me from behind his giant glass aquarium. For me, it was instant curiosity, admiration and love. Life with what nature had allowed us to experience in his handsomely primitive beauty, was also witness to how he could weave his innate andinstinctive behaviors, into our lives.

Book World Wildlife Crime Report 2020

    Book Details:

  • Release : 2021-03-31

Download or read book World Wildlife Crime Report 2020 written by United Nations Publications and published by UN. This book was released on 2021-03-31 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report presents the latest assessment of global trends in wildlife crime. It includes discussions on illicit rosewood, ivory, rhino horn, pangolin scales, live reptiles, tigers and other big cats, and European eel. The COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic has highlighted that wildlife crime is a threat not only to the environment and biodiversity, but also to human health, economic development and security. Zoonotic diseases - those caused by pathogens that spread from animals to humans - represent up to 75% of all emerging infectious diseases. Trafficked wild species and the resulting products offered for human consumption, by definition, escape any hygiene or sanitary control, and therefore pose even greater risks of infection.

Book American Megafaunal Extinctions at the End of the Pleistocene

Download or read book American Megafaunal Extinctions at the End of the Pleistocene written by Gary Haynes and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-12-23 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The volume contains summaries of facts, theories, and unsolved problems pertaining to the unexplained extinction of dozens of genera of mostly large terrestrial mammals, which occurred ca. 13,000 calendar years ago in North America and about 1,000 years later in South America. Another equally mysterious wave of extinctions affected large Caribbean islands around 5,000 years ago. The coupling of these extinctions with the earliest appearance of human beings has led to the suggestion that foraging humans are to blame, although major climatic shifts were also taking place in the Americas during some of the extinctions. The last published volume with similar (but not identical) themes -- Extinctions in Near Time -- appeared in 1999; since then a great deal of innovative, exciting new research has been done but has not yet been compiled and summarized. Different chapters in this volume provide in-depth resumés of the chronology of the extinctions in North and South America, the possible insights into animal ecology provided by studies of stable isotopes and anatomical/physiological characteristics such as growth increments in mammoth and mastodont tusks, the clues from taphonomic research about large-mammal biology, the applications of dating methods to the extinctions debate, and archeological controversies concerning human hunting of large mammals.
