Download or read book Geology of the Appalachian Caledonian Orogen in Canada and Greenland written by Harold Williams and published by Geological Society of America. This book was released on 1995 with total page 951 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume focuses on the Canadian Appalachian region. The chapter on the East Greenland Caledonides stands alone and there is no attempt to integrate the geological accounts of the two far removed regions. Rocks of the Canadian Appalachian region are described under four broad temporal divisions: lower Paleozoic and older, middle Paleozoic, upper Paleozoic, and Mesozoic. The rocks of these temporal divisions define geographic zones, belts, basins, and graben, respectively. The area is of special interest because so many modern concepts of mountain building are based on Appalachian rocks & structures.
Download or read book Geology of the Northern and Eastern Cape Breton Highlands Nova Scotia written by R. P. Raeside and published by Geological Survey of Canada. This book was released on 1992 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper describes the area in northern Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, including upland parts of Victoria County and parts of Inverness County north of the Grande Anse River. The report gives the regional setting, then describes the Blair River complex, Aspey Terrace and Bras d'Or Terrane. The structural geology and metamorphism of the area is described, along with the economic geology.
Download or read book Relations Between Metamorphism and Magmatism Near Cheticamp Cape Breton Island Nova Scotia written by Kenneth L. Currie and published by Geological Survey of Canada. This book was released on 1987 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Study concentrating on a little known region of the Cape Breton Highlands inan attempt to extract all possible information from the relations of granitoid and metamorphic rocks, particularly small scale relations inmetamorphic complexes. The study aimed to identify igneous and metamorphiccomponents of such complexes, and determine the relations between them, thenintegrate this information with previous studies to produce a more detailedand unified picture. Economic considerations are included, as well asreferences.

Download or read book The Design Construction and Application of Airborne Gamma ray Spectrometer Calibration Pads Thailand written by R. L. Grasty and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Four concrete pads 7.6 m x 7.6 m x 0.5 m thick were constructed in Thailandfor calibration of airborne gamma-ray spectrometers. They comprised a lowradioactivity background pad, a potassium pad, a uranium pad and a thoriumpad. The background pad was constructed of masonry sand and cement, theuranium and thorium pads with a small quantity of uranium and thorium oreadded to the same background matrix, and the potassium pad from feldspar andcement. The uranium ore, from Canada, was in radioactive equilibrium and alow emanator of radon. The thorium ore, a separated monazite beach sand, andthe feldspar were both obtained in Thailand. This report presents a detailed account of calibration pad construction.
