Download or read book IEEE Computer Society Workshop on VLSI 2000 written by Asim Smailagic and published by Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers(IEEE). This book was released on 2000 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contains 23 papers from the April 2000 workshop which identified system level design as a dominant VLSI research theme for the next decade. System design is converging on a model which combines general purpose commodity chips and full custom mixed analogy with digital application specific integrated circuits integrated via programmable gate arrays on custom printed circuit boards or complete silicon boards, creating a system-on-a-chip. Some of the papers discuss the constraints of complexity, power consumption, heat dissipation, mechanical packaging, ergonomics, and design effort. Other major topics are timing issues, analysis and synthesis of asynchronous circuits, and advances in multiplier design. No subject index. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR.

This book was released on 2008 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The thrid and final DVD in the ED'S STORY series contains the following films: My Garden and Ask Forgiveness My Garden: When we meet someone, one of the first questions we ask is, "So, what do you do?" It's easy to become wrapped up in a career or job. But who are we outside of our work? What happens when that job is no longer there? Are we still ourselves? A pastor for many years, Ed struggled to adjust to a life without the pulpit. But he eventually discovered there is much more to who we are than what we do. Ask Forgiveness: When Ed was told his life would be over in a few short years, he found his priorities drastically rearranged. Things that used to be important became mildly relevant, while things that didn't seem to matter were now all that did. Ed realized this probably meant he could have done certain things better. As he asked those around him for forgiveness, perhaps he also helped them to see what is truly important in his life.

Book Interconnect Centric Design for Advanced SOC and NOC

Download or read book Interconnect Centric Design for Advanced SOC and NOC written by Jari Nurmi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-03-20 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Interconnect-centric Design for Advanced SoC and NoC, we have tried to create a comprehensive understanding about on-chip interconnect characteristics, design methodologies, layered views on different abstraction levels and finally about applying the interconnect-centric design in system-on-chip design. Traditionally, on-chip communication design has been done using rather ad-hoc and informal approaches that fail to meet some of the challenges posed by next-generation SOC designs, such as performance and throughput, power and energy, reliability, predictability, synchronization, and management of concurrency. To address these challenges, it is critical to take a global view of the communication problem, and decompose it along lines that make it more tractable. We believe that a layered approach similar to that defined by the communication networks community should also be used for on-chip communication design. The design issues are handled on physical and circuit layer, logic and architecture layer, and from system design methodology and tools point of view. Formal communication modeling and refinement is used to bridge the communication layers, and network-centric modeling of multiprocessor on-chip networks and socket-based design will serve the development of platforms for SoC and NoC integration. Interconnect-centric Design for Advanced SoC and NoC is concluded by two application examples: interconnect and memory organization in SoCs for advanced set-top boxes and TV, and a case study in NoC platform design for more generic applications.

Book Sensor Network Protocols

Download or read book Sensor Network Protocols written by Imad Mahgoub and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-08 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sensor networks continue to grow in importance for modern communication networks. Communication protocols are at the core of these networks, determining their ability to function, their capabilities, and the environments in which they are able to operate. In chapters carefully selected from the popular Handbook of Sensor Networks, Sensor Network Protocols supplies a sharply focused reference on protocols, security, data processing, and energy management in communication sensor networks that is ideal for specialists in the field. Providing a succinct guide to the protocols currently used in advanced sensor networks, this book focuses on four main areas: routing protocols; data gathering and processing; security and reliability; and energy management. The book opens with a survey of the challenges and opportunities facing the field. Then, expert contributors authoritatively discuss routing technologies, next-generation enabling technologies, comparative study of energy-efficient protocols for wireless sensor networks, techniques to reduce computation and communication energy consumption, energy-aware routing, localized algorithms for sensor networks, and much more. Sensor Network Protocols details the techniques and technologies that are at the heart of modern sensor networks. It is an ideal reference for anyone interested in designing, planning, or building emerging sensor and communications networks.
