Book Thin Layer Chromatography in Drug Analysis

Download or read book Thin Layer Chromatography in Drug Analysis written by Lukasz Komsta and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2013-12-20 with total page 1070 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Used routinely in drug control laboratories, forensic laboratories, and as a research tool, thin layer chromatography (TLC) plays an important role in pharmaceutical drug analyses. It requires less complicated or expensive equipment than other techniques, and has the ability to be performed under field conditions. Filling the need for an up-to-date, complete reference, Thin Layer Chromatography in Drug Analysis covers the most important methods in pharmaceutical applications of TLC, namely, analysis of bulk drug material and pharmaceutical formulations, degradation studies, analysis of biological samples, optimization of the separation of drug classes, and lipophilicity estimation. The book is divided into two parts. Part I is devoted to general topics related to TLC in the context of drug analysis, including the chemical basis of TLC, sample pleparation, the optimization of layers and mobile phases, detection and quantification, analysis of ionic compounds, and separation and analysis of chiral substances. The text addresses the newest advances in TLC instrumentation, two-dimensional TLC, quantification by slit scanning densitometry and image analysis, statistical processing of data, and various detection and identification methods. It also describes the use of TLC for solving a key issue in the drug market—the presence of substandard and counterfeit pharmaceutical products. Part II provides an in-depth overview of a wide range of TLC applications for separation and analysis of particular drug groups. Each chapter contains an introduction about the structures and medicinal actions of the described substances and a literature review of their TLC analysis. A useful resource for chromatographers, pharmacists, analytical chemists, students, and R&D, clinical, and forensic laboratories, this book can be utilized as a manual, reference, and teaching source.

Gabhe and published by Anchor Academic Publishing (aap_verlag). This book was released on 2014-08 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book details: 1. Development and validation of a HPTLC-densitometric method for concurrent estimation of metformin hydrochloride, pioglitazone hydrochloride and gliclazide in combined dosage form. 2. Development and validation of a HPTLC method for simultaneous estimation of moxifloxacin hydrochloride and dexamethasone sodium phosphate in combined pharmaceutical dosage form. 3. Development and validation of a RP-HPLC method for simultaneous estimation of ciprofloxacin hydrochloride and dexamethasone in combined dosage form, which is a better alternative to existing ones. The developed analytical methods are simple, selective, accurate, robust, and precise with shorter analysis time for the analysis of drug/s in combined pharmaceutical dosage forms. All the developed HPTLC and HPLC methods have been validated as per ICH Q2 (R1) guideline. Developed analytical methods could boost analytical researchers to work more efficiently in the field of analytical method development and validation of Pharmaceutical dosage forms.

Book Quantitative Thin Layer Chromatography

Download or read book Quantitative Thin Layer Chromatography written by Bernd Spangenberg and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-01-03 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thin-layer chromatography (TLC) is widely used particularly for pharmaceutical and food analysis. While there are a number of books on the qualitative identification of chemical substances by TLC, the unique focus here is on quantitative analysis. The authors describe all steps of the analytical procedure, beginning with the basics and equipment for quantitative TLC followed by sample pretreatment and sample application, development and staining, scanning, and finally statistical and chemometric data evaluation and validation. An important feature is the coverage of effect-directed biological detection methods. Chapters are organized in a modular fashion facilitating the easy location of information about individual procedural steps.

Book Identification of Street Drugs by Thin Layer Chromatography and a Single Visualization Reagent

Download or read book Identification of Street Drugs by Thin Layer Chromatography and a Single Visualization Reagent written by JA. Vinson and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A number of reports on the use of thin-layer chromatography (TLC) in the analysis of street drugs have appeared [1-3]. Colors with various visualization agents applied in sequence are used for identification in conjunction with Rf values, spot tests [4], and crystal tests [5]. This paper reports the use of a rapid TLC screening procedure that utilizes a single developing solvent and a single visualization reagent, N,2,6-trichloro-p-benzoquinone imine (TCBI), for the preliminary identification of the drugs of abuse. In addition, other TLC developing solvents are outlined that can be used for further confirmation.

Book Countering the Problem of Falsified and Substandard Drugs

Download or read book Countering the Problem of Falsified and Substandard Drugs written by Institute of Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2013-06-20 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The adulteration and fraudulent manufacture of medicines is an old problem, vastly aggravated by modern manufacturing and trade. In the last decade, impotent antimicrobial drugs have compromised the treatment of many deadly diseases in poor countries. More recently, negligent production at a Massachusetts compounding pharmacy sickened hundreds of Americans. While the national drugs regulatory authority (hereafter, the regulatory authority) is responsible for the safety of a country's drug supply, no single country can entirely guarantee this today. The once common use of the term counterfeit to describe any drug that is not what it claims to be is at the heart of the argument. In a narrow, legal sense a counterfeit drug is one that infringes on a registered trademark. The lay meaning is much broader, including any drug made with intentional deceit. Some generic drug companies and civil society groups object to calling bad medicines counterfeit, seeing it as the deliberate conflation of public health and intellectual property concerns. Countering the Problem of Falsified and Substandard Drugs accepts the narrow meaning of counterfeit, and, because the nuances of trademark infringement must be dealt with by courts, case by case, the report does not discuss the problem of counterfeit medicines.
