Book A Time Accurate Adaptive Grid Method and the Numerical Simulation of a Shock Vortex Interaction

Download or read book A Time Accurate Adaptive Grid Method and the Numerical Simulation of a Shock Vortex Interaction written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-06-29 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A time accurate, general purpose, adaptive grid method is developed that is suitable for multidimensional steady and unsteady numerical simulations. The grid point movement is performed in a manner that generates smooth grids which resolve the severe solution gradients and the sharp transitions in the solution gradients. The temporal coupling of the adaptive grid and the PDE solver is performed with a grid prediction correction method that is simple to implement and ensures the time accuracy of the grid. Time accurate solutions of the 2-D Euler equations for an unsteady shock vortex interaction demonstrate the ability of the adaptive method to accurately adapt the grid to multiple solution features. Book ICASE Workshop on Programming Computational Grids

Download or read book ICASE Workshop on Programming Computational Grids written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A workshop on Programming Computational Grids for distributed applications was held on April 12-13, 2001 at ICASE, NASA Langley Research Center. The stated objective of the workshop was to define, discuss, and clarify issues critical to the advancement of Problem Solving Environments/Computational Frameworks for solving large multi-scale, multi-component scientific applications using distributed, heterogeneous computing systems. This report documents a set of recommendations for NASA that suggest an approach for developing an application development environment that will meet future application needs.

Book Unlimited Horizons

Download or read book Unlimited Horizons written by Peter W. Merlin and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Designed as a stopgap measure to provide overhead reconnaissance capability during the early years of the Cold War, the versatile U-2 has since evolved to meet changing requirements well into the 21st century. Though many authors have documented the airplane's operational history, few have made more than a cursory examination of its technical aspects or its role as a NASA research platform. This volume includes an overview of the origin and development of the Lockheed U-2 family of aircraft with early National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) involvement, construction and materials challenges faced by designers and builders, releasable performance characteristics and capabilities, use of U-2 and ER-2 airplanes as research platforms, and technical and programmatic lessons learned.

Book Engineering Fundamentals An Introduction to Engineering SI Edition

Download or read book Engineering Fundamentals An Introduction to Engineering SI Edition written by Saeed Moaveni and published by Cengage Learning. This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 702 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Specifically designed as an introduction to the exciting world of engineering, ENGINEERING FUNDAMENTALS: AN INTRODUCTION TO ENGINEERING encourages students to become engineers and prepares them with a solid foundation in the fundamental principles and physical laws. The book begins with a discovery of what engineers do as well as an inside look into the various areas of specialization. An explanation on good study habits and what it takes to succeed is included as well as an introduction to design and problem solving, communication, and ethics. Once this foundation is established, the book moves on to the basic physical concepts and laws that students will encounter regularly. The framework of this text teaches students that engineers apply physical and chemical laws and principles as well as mathematics to design, test, and supervise the production of millions of parts, products, and services that people use every day. By gaining problem solving skills and an understanding of fundamental principles, students are on their way to becoming analytical, detail-oriented, and creative engineers.
