This book is a compilation of 116 recipes that were submitted, photos, stories and dedications from the members of this page. The proceeds of our book will benefit a local charity (Stephen Siller Foundation/Tunnel to Towers Covid19 Heroes Fund) that is supporting front line heroes. This book will also serve as a piece of history. It will remind any one who purchases it that during a very dark time in our country's history there was that one group who stuck together and supported one another through cooking and meals for our families. It has been nothing short of amazing to have created this with my daughters and to now turn it into a much asked for book. We have many front line members/family who contributed to our book and the stories will reflect it. The feedback on this project has been amazing. People love it and so do we.

Book excerpt: The Dutch scholar Christiaan Snouck Hurgronje (1857–1936) was one of the most famous orientalists of his time. He acquired early fame through his daring research in Mecca in 1884-85, masterly narrated in two books and accompanied by two portfolios of photographs. As an adviser to the colonial government in the Dutch East Indies from 1889 until 1906, he was on horseback during campaigns of “pacification” and published extensively on Indonesian cultures and languages. Meanwhile he successively married two Sundanese women with whom he had several children. In 1906 he became a professor in Leiden and promoted together with colleagues abroad the study of modern Islam, meant to be useful for colonial purposes. Despite his considerable scholarly, political, and cultural influence in the first decades of the twentieth century, nowadays Snouck Hurgronje has been almost forgotten outside a small circle of specialists, since he mainly published in Dutch and German. The contributors to this volume each offer new insights about this enigmatic scholar and political actor who might be considered a classic proponent of “orientalism.” Their detailed studies of his life and work challenge us to reconsider common views of the history of the study of Islam in European academia and encourage a more nuanced “post-orientalist” approach with ample attention for cooperation, exchange, and hybridization. Ephraim Prindle, born circa 1755 arrived in Clinton County, NY by the time the 1800 Federal census was taken; and he with his six sons and one daughter farmed and raised families in that area. As the new West frontier opened up, the families migrated by rail, mostly to Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Kansas, Texas and then some on to California, Oregon and Washington. Newspaper accounts of everyday life events and obituaries of their deaths are included. Hundreds of photographs of these Prindle/Prindel descendants, their homes, and headstones, along with some rare historical documents and maps have also been introduced into this book. These Prindles married into many other families during the past 250 years. Two surnames in particular stand out; the Goodwins and the Daddows. These surnames are given extra attention and are followed for a couple of generations. Personal accounts of living experiences and remembrances of some Prindle/Prindel family members are shared. Also mentioned in the book is a brief explanation of the surname Prindle; where it originated, what its meaning is and how it has changed over the years.
