Book The Master Plan

Download or read book The Master Plan written by Chris Wilson and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2020-02-04 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Master Plan is less of a road map and more of a philosophy that we should all take to heart: We are all better than our worst decision, our sense of justice should honor the redemptive possibilities inherent in every person, and our destinies are truly intertwined."--Wes Moore, author of The Other Wes Moore Growing up in Washington, DC, Chris Wilson was surrounded by violence and despair. He watched his family and neighborhood shattered by trauma, and he lost his faith. One night when he was seventeen, defending himself, he killed a man. He was sentenced to life in prison with no hope of parole. But what should have been the end of his story became the beginning. Behind bars, Wilson embarked on a remarkable journey of self-improvement--reading, working out, learning languages, even starting a business. At nineteen, he sat down and wrote a list of all the things he intended to accomplish, and all the steps he'd have to take to get there. He called it his Master Plan. He revised that plan regularly and followed it religiously. Sixteen years later, it led him to an unlikely opportunity--and to a promise he has been working hard to live up to every day since. Harrowing, heartbreaking, and ultimately triumphant, The Master Plan is a memoir for this moment, proving that every person is capable of doing great things.

Any further information would warrant a spoiler alert! Suffice to say... as if the craziness of MASTER PIECE wasn't crazy enough... things look like they're going to get even more complicated... twisted... nail-biting... philosophically deep... and seemingly impossible to resolve in the second instalment of Andy Dane Nye’s hilarious & highly original MASTER trilogy. “Just brilliant. Witty, clever and totally enthralling. Couldn't put it down.” Amazon review for Master Piece. “Captivating from beginning to end.” Amazon review for Master Piece. “An unfolding intelligent puzzle that’s gripping all the way through.” Amazon review for Master Piece. “A rollicking good read!” Amazon review for Master Piece. “Brilliant, surreal and laugh out loud funny.” Amazon review for Master Piece. “So good I read it twice.” Amazon review for Master Piece. A definite must for those who love their fictional intrigue to be mixed with a healthy dose of philosophical musings... and plenty of laughs!

Book His Master Plan

Download or read book His Master Plan written by Inece Hughes and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-08-30 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the story of a talented athlete, Brendon Hughes, who had a heart condition that had not been detected. As a result of strenuous exercise, playing football, baseball, basketball, and track, he suffered a fatal heart attack. After Brendon's death, I felt compelled to write this book for the sole purpose of being an inspiration to others who may have suffered a loss such as ours. Death is always difficult to deal with especially if it is the death of a young person. It is always a comfort to know that we are not alone in our pain, and there are other people that have experienced the same thing. I sincerely hope that this personal account, which is written from the heart, will be a help to everyone who reads it.

There’s lots to do and plenty of people to meet, especially women. Because there’s just one tiny problem in Fool’s Gold: the men don’t seem to stick around. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An incisive narrative history of the Islamic State, from the 2005 master plan to reestablish the Caliphate to its quest for Final Victory in 2020 Given how quickly its operations have achieved global impact, it may seem that the Islamic State materialized suddenly. In fact, al-Qaeda’s operations chief, Sayf al-Adl, devised a seven-stage plan for jihadis to conquer the world by 2020 that included reestablishing the Caliphate in Syria between 2013 and 2016. Despite a massive schism between the Islamic State and al-Qaeda, al-Adl’s plan has proved remarkably prescient. In summer 2014, ISIS declared itself the Caliphate after capturing Mosul, Iraq—part of stage five in al-Adl’s plan. Drawing on large troves of recently declassified documents captured from the Islamic State and its predecessors, counterterrorism expert Brian Fishman tells the story of this organization’s complex and largely hidden past—and what the master plan suggests about its future. Only by understanding the Islamic State’s full history—and the strategy that drove it—can we understand the contradictions that may ultimately tear it apart.

Book The proposal for a national policy statement on ports

Download or read book The proposal for a national policy statement on ports written by Great Britain: Parliament: House of Commons: Transport Committee and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2010-03-17 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: National Policy Statements (NPS) are a key component of the new planning system for nationally significant infrastructure projects, introduced by the Planning Act 2008. The Act stipulates that a proposal for a National Policy Statement will be subject to public consultation and allows for parliamentary scrutiny before designation as national policy by the Secretary of State. The draft Ports National Policy Statement (Department for Transport, 2009) has been welcomed by many organisations as a good start which can be built upon. The Committee has recommended a number of modifications and expects the Department will improve the draft as a result of the consultation and scrutiny processes. The Committee has reservations regarding the Government's 2007 policy for ports and the lack of guidance on location for port development in the NPS but this, of itself, does not make the NPS unfit for purpose. But the Committee cannot recommend designation at this stage on two counts. Firstly, a key, related policy statement - the National Networks NPS - has yet to be published. Secondly, the organisation likely to be one of the principal decision-makers for port development - the Marine Management Organisation - has yet to be established and so has been unable to comment on guidance that will be of great importance to its role. These are fundamental flaws in the consultation process and the Ports NPS should not be designated until they are rectified.

Book excerpt: Before he died, Peter looked into the eyes of his wife of forty years and said, When I am gone find the mission God has for you . . . Three years later Janet Drake learns of a recently widowed father with four young children. She believes caring for this family is her mission and heads for the motherless Harrison home. But Tom, the father, considers her neither heaven-sent nor especially qualified. However with no other applicant in sight, he agrees to give her a one week try-out. On her second day in town a chance meeting re-ignites a college friendship with Stu Mudoch, now a widowed missionary. He is convinced their meeting was a divine appointment while Janet is more than a little surprised at the strong stirrings of her heart. The childrens grief and their misbegotten ideas overwhelm her. But she is ready to do serious battle when an ambitious non-maternal woman casts her seductive web around Tompulling him off course from the fathering his children need. Meanwhile Janets secret Mary Poppins fantasy evaporates when the kids spurn her healthy cooking and none of the pervasive litter throughout the house jumps back into instant order in her wake. Friends of the deceased mom come alongside to help and she, in turn, mentors them as they deal with crushing disappointments and haunting histories. Through it all one over-riding question plagues her. Is serving the Harrison family truly the answer to Peters challenge, or are the Harrisons just a stepping stone on the way to the real mission?
