Download or read book I AM WOMAN HEAR ME ROAR written by Sidney St. James and published by BeeBop Publishing Group. This book was released on 2020-08-18 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our story has its quiet beginning at a convention in Seneca Falls, New York, in 1848. Susan B. Anthony attended, and it was here her legacy began. This convention launched the suffrage movement. This novel is based on actual events in history, although it is written as creative fiction. There are two parts to this Victorian Romance, Women's Rights, and State's Rights. It gets underway after the convention in the summer of 1860 with four young women, known throughout the reading as the four musketeers, who are all single and graduate from the Hampton Women's College in Virginia. It follows their courtship with handsome men from all walks of life, Colonel Richard 'Dick' Jackson, Reverend Russell James Keiner, Brett Meyer, and an Italian opera star, Carlos Orsi. The lead character in the novel is Dianne Jenkins, who is portrayed as man-hater… but is she really! The rights usually enjoyed by women were often taken away when she married. As a matter of fact, a woman gave up so many civil and property rights upon walking across that threshold that she was said to be entering a state of "civil death." One such woman who would not stand for this inequality was Dianne Jenkins. She loves Reverend Russell Keiner with all her heart but hates him with all her mind. Her moving speech as Magna Cum Laude at Hampton's College describes her feeling toward inequality while not pulling any punches. Married women were not allowed to make contracts, devise their last will and testament, or take part in other legal transactions. Women, once married, were not in control of the wages they earned. In our story, Dianne Jenkins is an outspoken woman. She disliked the fact that women were expected once they married to do the maintenance of the family from sewing a pair of socks to doing the laundry to cooking the meals and, of course, bearing as many children as she could until it killed her. Because the laws were written by men, a married woman was supposed to remain home and take care of the cooking, cleaning, and getting pregnant every time she hung her husband's pants on the clothes' line. As the first of this two-volume novel unfolds, we find our four women standing beside their fathers while our country splits, and they fight for the glory of the 'Star-Spangled Banner' in State's Rights. Or, do they take up arms with the Confederacy? At the same time, one of our women fights not to be controlled by a man she so dearly loves. The problem is that she loves him and desires him with her heart, but something from her past keeps her mind from letting him into her heart! Some quotes from women during this story: "The best protection any woman can have is courage." – Elizabeth Cady Stanton "I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires." – Susan B. Anthony "There shall never be another season of silence until women have the same rights men have on this green earth." – Susan B. Anthony "I never doubted that equal rights were the right direction. Most reforms, most problems are complicated. But to me, there's nothing complicated about ordinary equality." – Alice Paul

Book Can You Hear Me Now

Download or read book Can You Hear Me Now written by Annie O'Sullivan and published by Central Avenue Publishing. This book was released on 2012-04-09 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published as only parts of her life, this book brings together the full life story of the woman known as Annie O'Sullivan. Horribly abused at the hand of her father, it is a collection of essays that graphically recount memories of her life as a confused child and young adult as she careened through life without compass, to ultimately, and against all odds, prosper. Culminating in the event that brought a degree of closure to her torture, O'Sullivan brings the reader on an intimate life journey through the eyes of this child’s misunderstanding, will to persevere and desire to seek goodness despite her circumstances. Terrifying, infuriating and uplifting, this book touches not only survivors; but parents, childcare workers and teachers; reminding us of the true vulnerability of children and our collective responsibility to protect them.

Book Flowers and Promises A True Story

Download or read book Flowers and Promises A True Story written by Hanna Vanora and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2011-10-17 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In writing this book, I would like to relate the pattern of domestic abuse and its affect on my own life and others around me. Maybe you know someone in a similar situation or you yourself are in this type of situation. After leaving the destructive cycle I was in, I felt inspired with an overwhelming need to share my experiences and to reach out to others that may be going through similar circumstances. As you read this true story, look for the characteristics (listed at the beginning of this book) that each person had, the unhealthy patterns in my relationships, and how my thought perceptions kept me in it for so long. The end of this book contains useful information on how to get help for yourself or someone you know, and how to create a safety plan. This book has a powerful story that will bring to light what many are going through and may be the first step toward getting help. It is a valuable resource for victims, advocates, shelters, counselors, health care facilities, and family/friends of victims!

The creatures had military tactics and were smarter than the average human. Along the way, Sergeant Major lost, and he also gained. He found Dr. Zhan, whose goal was to redirect cancer cells and cause them to fight each other in order to destroy cancer, but one of his associates, Dr. Phoin, had other plans. Download or read book Rigatoni written by Jeffery F Dow and published by Jeffery F. Dow. This book was released on 2021-02-12 with total page 1529 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sarah Bartlett was an Academy Award-nominated film star, an Emmy-nominated television actress and a Tony-nominated stage performer. She was also awarded her very own Varsity Jacket by the former director of the US Department of Music’s Federal Hip Hop Administration. Appearing in over 20 films (including Hearts of Sorrow, Hearts of Celery; Perkwit’s Secret Bramboráky (the fourth installment of the Blurg movies); and Shadow of the Fish), she also starred on stage in such shows as Howling at the Moon: The Dog Musical; Billiard Balls of Death; and Dreadful About Those Shock Treatments, Eh? The woman was also an accomplished musician who performed guitar and baglama not only with her own group (Zooey’s Lampshade) but also with the Hattiesburg Symphony Orchestra and Industrial Pole Bean Outlet; with the Palm Frond and Banana Spider Symphony Orchestra; and with the ’56 Elvis Quintet at the Memphis in November: From Too Cool to Too Cold Music, Art and Law Practice Festival). There were other sides to Sarah, sides that she preferred people not know much about, sides involving Queen Victoria costumes, drinking way too many sodas at one sitting, and that whole ceramic curry serving bowl (from 2400 BCE) incident, which she knew would greatly upset anthropologists all over the world. Here, for the first time, is the entire story of Sarah Bartlett’s life, including her children, her husband, her boyfriend, her shoes, her Toyota Cadberry, and her dreams (some of them involving picture frames made of cheese; some of them involving the Poky Little Puppy; some of them involving Gloria Swanson wearing a miniskirt, a pair of orange flip-flops and a T-shirt with a picture of Andy Warhol and the phrase “Hey, look, I’m a can of soup” on it; some of them involving cats with lobster claws for legs; and some of them involving copious amounts of Ranch Dressing). The book also includes over 150 illustrations, and some of them actually make sense. If you’re looking for a book that offers the best ratio of cost per laugh, look no further. Further? Farther? Wait, let’s think this through. Uhh, farther has an a in it, and measure has an a in it, so farther relates to distance. So, yeah, further is the right adjective to use. The Seattle Drainpipe Gazette says, “Rigatoni is to books as cat hair is to dogs.” The Farmington Inquirer calls Rigatoni “unobtrusive,” “mildly trapezoidal,” and “looks great under some flowerpots.” And the Tucson Rock Trader says, “If we crowdfund, we can raise enough money to get this author the serious help he so obviously needs. This isn’t a cry for help, this is a sustained scream through a set of Peavey Dark Matter DM 118 Powered PA Subwoofer Speakers.”
