Book A Kingdom for Us

  • Release : 2024-02-28
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 444 pages

Download or read book A Kingdom for Us written by Kathy Zuziak and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2024-02-28 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Kingdom for Us was written to answer questions that everybody has. Is there really a devil, and what can he do? What is the big deal about praise and worship? What is the baptism in the Holy Spirit, and do we need it? How do you get the kind of faith that produces miracles? Where are we in the timeline? If you have wondered about any of these things, you are not alone. This Bible study was designed to help all of us understand what is going on. There is a Kingdom and Jesus is the King. Jesus tells us that the Kingdom is coming and also that the Kingdom is within us. This would not seem to make sense unless you realize that Jesus is speaking of both physical and spiritual kingdoms. Either way, the Kingdom brings heaven on earth. Wouldn't we like to have some of that? This is good stuff, my friend. If you are a regular, nonreligious sort of person that just wants to know the truth, even someone who has never read the Bible, then this study is for you. If you have some previous knowledge but aren't sure how it all works together, this study is for you too. Perhaps it will help connect the dots. 139 167

Book excerpt: You probably think a resort on the beach in Florida would be a great place to relax and have some fun. Ordinarily, you'd be right. UNLESS: You're the General Manager, the Spring Break Bacchanalia is sinking to new levels of depravity, your Executive Chef is making a fool of herself with an improbably good looking but curiously out of place guest, and one sunny afternoon, you discover that somebody has--improbably, and curiously--left Mr. Gorgeous under a cabana with his throat cut. Maureen Delaney, a recovering lawyer and the tough-talking and hard-headed manager of the SeaHorse Grand Resort, thought she had a pretty nice life--living and working with her best friends, and having a smart and funny saxophone player come around every once in a while to heat up the sub-tropical nights. But when said Executive Chef is charged with the murder of said Mr. Gorgeous, Mo and her other best friends must scramble to find out who really killed him in order to liberate her from orange jumpsuit hell. Their investigation ultimately leads them to a crooked HMO, corruption in high places, and surprising revelations about people they thought they knew.

Book Exploring Newspaper Language

Download or read book Exploring Newspaper Language written by Gisle Andersen and published by John Benjamins Publishing. This book was released on 2012 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes new methodological and technological approaches to corpus building and presents recent research based on the Norwegian Newspaper Corpus. This is a large monitor corpus of contemporary Norwegian language, compiled through daily harvesting of web newspapers. The book gives an overview of the corpus and its system architecture, and presents tools used for tasks such as text harvesting, annotation, topic classification and extraction and frequency profiling of new words and phrases. Among the innovative technologies is Corpuscle, a corpus query engine and management system which is flexible enough to handle very large corpora in an efficient way. The individual research contributions based on the corpus explore different aspects of Norwegian, including the occurrence of anglicisms, neologisms and terminology, and the use of metonymy and metaphor in newspaper language. The book also describes an innovative method of applying correspondence analysis and implicational analysis to investigate interdependencies between morphosyntactic variants.

Book New Approaches to Specialized English Lexicology and Lexicography

Download or read book New Approaches to Specialized English Lexicology and Lexicography written by Marián Alesón and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2010-10-12 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gathers some of the latest approaches to Lexicology and Lexicography, which span from research on language for specific purposes to the study of lexical constellations and translation. It aims to present a multifaceted insight on current trends and, thus, includes papers that explore lexical processes in several areas, which comprise fields so diverse and riveting such as the language of cinema, fashion, tourism, and even comics. In addition, other papers examine the lexicon of well-established professional languages, such as the language of law, medicine and business, by revealing leading-edge perspectives on topics such as translation, word-formation, cultural clashes, or lexical selection. Key issues on learning and teaching are also considered, as part of a long tradition in the study of professional and academic languages that posits users’ learning needs as the cornerstone to the study of these languages. Therefore, this work proposes a strong emphasis on lexis and terminology, which are highlighted as the fundamental core of the definition and analysis of specialized languages. All in all, this publication intends, on the one hand, to embrace current trends in the study of specialized lexicon and terminology from the perspective of both Lexicology and Lexicography, and, on the other hand, to open new possibilities for future research.

Book Language Youth and Identity in the 21st Century

Download or read book Language Youth and Identity in the 21st Century written by Jacomine Nortier and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2015-03-19 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The language of young people is central in sociolinguistic research, as it is seen to be innovative and a primary source of knowledge about linguistic change and the role of language. This volume brings together a team of leading scholars to explore and compare linguistic practices of young people in multilingual urban spaces, with analyses ranging from grammar to ideology. It includes fascinating examples from cities in Europe, Africa, Canada and the US to demonstrate how young people express their identities through language, for example in hip-hop lyrics and new social media. This is the first book to cover the topic from a globally diverse perspective, and it investigates how linguistic practices across different communities intersect with age, ethnicity, gender and class. In doing so it shows commonalities and differences in how young people experience, act and relate to the contemporary social, cultural and linguistic complexity of the twenty-first century.

Book Children s Language

Download or read book Children s Language written by K. E. Nelson and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2014-03-18 with total page 496 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1983. This series, Children’s Language, reflects the conviction that extensive work on entirely new fronts along with a great deal of reinterpretation of old-front data will be necessary before any persuasive and truly orderly account of language. For all volumes in the series there is a common scheme of operation with two tactics. First, to give authors sufficient planning time and freedom to arrive at a chapter-length account of their area of thinking which vividly shows both the progress and the problems in that area, with the author of each chapter free to find a workable proportion of new experimental contributions, review, and theory. The second tactic concerns the selection of topics for each volume. This is Volume 4. Structures about language and thought and children as employed in certain other fields may well be shaken and stimulated, particularly in education, sociology, anthropology, literature, and language remediation.
