Download or read book I Have to Start at School Today written by Simon Philip and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2020-07-23 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Another laugh-out-loud picture book from the award-winning author of You Must Bring a Hat, I Don't Know What to Call My Cat and Be More Bernard. I have to start at school today. "You'll have such fun!" my parents say. I know they think I'll be okay, But what if things don't go my way? Starting at a new school can be scary business. From rhinos at the gate to bears who won't share, there are all SORTS of things that could go wrong. Luckily, Grandma is on hand to point out that there's no need to fright, as things could just as easily . . . go right! Simon Philip's latest picture book is a riotously funny but ultimately reassuring look at one child's far-fetched imaginings about the first day of school, brought to life by Ged Adamson's (Shark Dog) bold and fabulously expressive illustrations.

Book A Letter from Your Teacher

Download or read book A Letter from Your Teacher written by Shannon Olsen and published by Life Between Summers. This book was released on 2022-03 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the author and illustrator of Our Class is a Family, this touching picture book expresses a teacher's sentiments and well wishes on the last day of school. Serving as a follow up to the letter in A Letter From Your Teacher: On the First Day of School, it's a read aloud for teachers to bid a special farewell to their students at the end of the school year. Through a letter written from the teacher's point of view, the class is invited to reflect back on memories made, connections formed, and challenges met. The letter expresses how proud their teacher is of them, and how much they will be missed. Students will also leave on that last day knowing that their teacher is cheering them on for all of the exciting things to come in the future. There is a blank space on the last page for teachers to sign their own name, so that students know that the letter in the book is coming straight from them. With its sincere message and inclusive illustrations, A Letter From Your Teacher: On the Last Day of School is a valuable addition to any elementary school teacher's classroom library.

Book So You Want to Raise a Boy

Download or read book So You Want to Raise a Boy written by W. Cleon Skousen and published by Verity Publishing. This book was released on 1962 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In writing this book, Dr. Skousen takes considerable comfort from the fact that there are no “experts” on the subject of raising boys. He comes about as close as anyone, since he is the father of five sons and three daughters—and the grandfather of fifty grandchildren. In this book is his description of “boyhood” from birth to the age of twenty-one, a portrait of physical and emotional development, year by year, an outline of behavior patterns and problems and how parents should react to them. He considers such matters as the boy’s relation to the family, adjusting to school, stuttering, telling tales, and even such everyday problems as getting a boy to clean up his room or take a bath. Inevitably there will be difficult boys and with this in mind Dr. Skousen gives helpful and knowledgeable advice to parents about alcohol, drugs, and suggested preventative measures. Without preaching and with a fine sense of humor and good common sense, Dr. Skousen has compiled a concrete guide to raising non-delinquent boys who are happy and well-adjusted. This eBook includes the original index, illustrations, footnotes, table of contents and page numbering from the printed format.

Book My Wounded Heart

Download or read book My Wounded Heart written by Martin Doerry and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2009-09-07 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My Wounded Heart tells the heart-breaking story of a gifted Jewish doctor, the mother of five children, who, after being divorced by her Aryan husband, is arrested on an absurd charge and sent to a corrective labour camp in 1942. Lilli was a prolific letter writer and miraculously almost all her letters to her children and friends, together with a huge number of their letters to her (smuggled out of the camp at Breitenau before she was sent to Auschwitz), survived the Second World War and only came to light on the death of her son in 1998. In the letters and in Martin Doerry's superb commentary, we see the deterioration of a whole country through the eyes of an ordinary family driven asunder by pressure from the Nazi regime. We see Lilli's initial optimism and love of her husband begin to crack. We see her trying to support and run the family home from Breitenau camp, but relying totally on her twelve-year-old daughter, Ilse. And we see the difficulties for the children of living with their father's mistress, now his wife, after a bombing raid destroys the family home. And perhaps most moving of all, we see Ilse's heroic attempts to meet her mother, even though it means going into the labour camp itself, and Lilli's courage in the face of her inevitable end.
