Book Non Linear Differential Equations

Download or read book Non Linear Differential Equations written by G. Sansone and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-06 with total page 553 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International Series of Monographs in Pure and Applied Mathematics, Volume 67: Non-Linear Differential Equations, Revised Edition focuses on the analysis of the phase portrait of two-dimensional autonomous systems; qualitative methods used in finding periodic solutions in periodic systems; and study of asymptotic properties. The book first discusses general theorems about solutions of differential systems. Periodic solutions, autonomous systems, and integral curves are explained. The text explains the singularities of Briot-Bouquet theory. The selection takes a look at plane autonomous systems. Topics include limiting sets, plane cycles, isolated singular points, index, and the torus as phase space. The text also examines autonomous plane systems with perturbations and autonomous and non-autonomous systems with one degree of freedom. The book also tackles linear systems. Reducible systems, periodic solutions, and linear periodic systems are considered. The book is a vital source of information for readers interested in applied mathematics.

Book Tame Geometry with Application in Smooth Analysis

Download or read book Tame Geometry with Application in Smooth Analysis written by Yosef Yomdin and published by Springer. This book was released on 2004-02-07 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Morse-Sard theorem is a rather subtle result and the interplay between the high-order analytic structure of the mappings involved and their geometry rarely becomes apparent. The main reason is that the classical Morse-Sard theorem is basically qualitative. This volume gives a proof and also an "explanation" of the quantitative Morse-Sard theorem and related results, beginning with the study of polynomial (or tame) mappings. The quantitative questions, answered by a combination of the methods of real semialgebraic and tame geometry and integral geometry, turn out to be nontrivial and highly productive. The important advantage of this approach is that it allows the separation of the role of high differentiability and that of algebraic geometry in a smooth setting: all the geometrically relevant phenomena appear already for polynomial mappings. The geometric properties obtained are "stable with respect to approximation", and can be imposed on smooth functions via polynomial approximation.

The questions considered are about the structure of singularities and how they function.

This book was released on 2007-07-08 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book attempts to give a presentation of the advance of our knowledge of phase portraits of quadratic systems, paying special attention to the historical development of the subject. This the only book that organizes the portraits into classes, using the notions of finite and infinite multiplicity and finite and infinite index. Classifications of phase portraits for various classes are given using the well-known methods of phase plane analysis.

Book Singularities of Differentiable Maps

Download or read book Singularities of Differentiable Maps written by V.I. Arnold and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 498 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present. volume is the second volume of the book "Singularities of Differentiable Maps" by V.1. Arnold, A. N. Varchenko and S. M. Gusein-Zade. The first volume, subtitled "Classification of critical points, caustics and wave fronts", was published by Moscow, "Nauka", in 1982. It will be referred to in this text simply as "Volume 1". Whilst the first volume contained the zoology of differentiable maps, that is it was devoted to a description of what, where and how singularities could be encountered, this volume contains the elements of the anatomy and physiology of singularities of differentiable functions. This means that the questions considered in it are about the structure of singularities and how they function. Another distinctive feature of the present volume is that we take a hard look at questions for which it is important to work in the complex domain, where the first volume was devoted to themes for which, on the whole, it was not important which field (real or complex) we were considering. Such topics as, for example, decomposition of singularities, the connection between singularities and Lie algebras and the asymptotic behaviour of different integrals depending on parameters become clearer in the complex domain. The book consists of three parts. In the first part we consider the topological structure of isolated critical points of holomorphic functions. We describe the fundamental topological characteristics of such critical points: vanishing cycles, distinguished bases, intersection matrices, monodromy groups, the variation operator and their interconnections and method of calculation.

Book Distributions and Convolution Equations

Download or read book Distributions and Convolution Equations written by Semen Grigorʹevich Gindikin and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1992 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors apply the results of many years of their own original research to a systematic presentation of the theory of distributions in this monograph which can also be used as a (very expensive) textbook on the theory of distribution for graduate students. The first part is devoted to the Cauchy problem, while the second part deals with the Wiener-Hopf equation and related topics in the theory of boundary value problems for convolution equations. To make their work more accessible to readers new to this field, the authors restrict initial treatment of problems to the half-line and formulate only principal results, in their simplest form. Special results and possible generalizations are presented as problems and exercises. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

Book Making the Soviet Intelligentsia

Download or read book Making the Soviet Intelligentsia written by Benjamin Tromly and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2013-12-19 with total page 541 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Making the Soviet Intelligentsia explores the formation of educated elites in Russian and Ukrainian universities during the early Cold War. In the postwar period, universities emerged as training grounds for the military-industrial complex, showcases of Soviet cultural and economic accomplishments and valued tools in international cultural diplomacy. However, these fêted Soviet institutions also generated conflicts about the place of intellectuals and higher learning under socialism. Disruptive party initiatives in higher education - from the xenophobia and anti-Semitic campaigns of late Stalinism to the rewriting of history and the opening of the USSR to the outside world under Khrushchev - encouraged students and professors to interpret their commitments as intellectuals in the Soviet system in varied and sometimes contradictory ways. In the process, the social construct of intelligentsia took on divisive social, political and national meanings for educated society in the postwar Soviet state.

Book Recent Developments in the Solution of Nonlinear Differential Equations

Download or read book Recent Developments in the Solution of Nonlinear Differential Equations written by Bruno Carpentieri and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2021-09-08 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonlinear differential equations are ubiquitous in computational science and engineering modeling, fluid dynamics, finance, and quantum mechanics, among other areas. Nowadays, solving challenging problems in an industrial setting requires a continuous interplay between the theory of such systems and the development and use of sophisticated computational methods that can guide and support the theoretical findings via practical computer simulations. Owing to the impressive development in computer technology and the introduction of fast numerical methods with reduced algorithmic and memory complexity, rigorous solutions in many applications have become possible. This book collects research papers from leading world experts in the field, highlighting ongoing trends, progress, and open problems in this critically important area of mathematics.
