Questo studio descrive, attraverso la testimonianza dell'ultimo pittore di cartelloni discendente da un'illustre famiglia di artigiani assai rinomata tra i pupari, le tecniche di fabbricazione tradizionali di questo "manifesto popolare" ed analizza la trasformazione della sequenza narrativa della Rotta di Roncisvalle attraverso le scansioni di tre cartelloni di epoche diverse dedicati allo stesso soggetto.
